Yeah I went through the acceptance phase of my grief once I realized they stopped caring when my ping was 100+. This was after a few month break already. Its like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders.
They absolutely completely and totally dropped the ball on this game. I haven't played in a loooooooong time, re-installed it, noticed they haven't updated the maps, I played a couple rounds and got bored. So sad. So lame of the devs to release the stupid demon horde mode that I've had 0 interest in playing. The multiplayer should be poppin' and have a ton of different modes, maps, and, like you said, rewards for competitive play. Imagine if they had special items to loot in multiplayer if you reach special levels of kills per map or reach certain objectives. They could've added in different arrow types, locational damage that caused effects like dizzy, limping, bleeding effects, but nothing... they got rich and decided to basically abandon the game. SAD!
What even was the demon horde.... did anyone ask for that lol. It was really bad too. I heard the devs essentially got addicted to gambling and getting richer. So spent their days stock trading over building.
High skill ceiling games like Mordhau will always die off. its a game where your individual skill is your reward and a lot of people don't care to put in the time to learn. I think the game is pretty well balanced mechanics wise and changing things in that department could ruin peoples muscle memory. as for aesthetic updates it'd be cool to see more official stuff but the devs don't have much of a budget. the game kinda sustains itself with the modding community anyways. I'd argue there's really nothing wrong with the game the way it is and there's really nothing they can do to "fix" it. It's just another niche pvp game with a small community. if a new player wants to play, great. but they have to know the established players are going to be years of experience ahead of them and the only real fair chance they have is a friend who also is interested so they can practice together.
I got Mordhau when it first came out along with 3 friends, we played it often for like a month and enjoyed it but moved onto something else after that and none of us ever played it again. Despite it being a very good game I just never felt any desire to go back. Felt like I done pretty much everything in that time and never seen any big updates that would pull me back in. And the longer you are out of the game the harder it would be to get back into due to the likely high skill of the current player base, not going to be as fun without putting in a lot of work. Which is an issue for all PvP only games. If I did have the urge for this style of game again I would just buy chivalry 2 at this stage.
I never really bothered with the game because I had played lots of Mount and Blade online and War of the Roses. War of the Roses is pretty fun, but I never really got deep into it and I felt like I'd feel the same about Mordhau. I know the two games are probably really different, but there's only so much time on Earth that I have to spend on medieval combat games.
I have always wanted to try Mount and blade online. I think i tried War of Roses for like 1 hour but couldn't get into it. I wish i had an infinite amount of time to enjoy all the games out there.
They also split balance between comp and casual too much, also for wessexes you can parry it, it’s just you had to parry later at a different angle if I’m remembering right
Yeah I wish they did a better job balancing the two modes. I remember trying to parry wessexes but could never quite figure out the timing. I think it had something to do with running away or towards the swing and having to parry at some odd angle. Either way the shit was too confusing for me to register and I always parried early anyway as a defense against what would probably be red parry accells on my 75-80+ ping lol.
I think problem is that they release random updates once in the millenium and ruined the game. They said they were done and released SDK on epic and let modders have fun and people could experience fun mods like Star Wars, LOTR, Open World Mordhau, RP mods, etc. But they decided to release an update and ruined them and nobody wants to fix errors on their mods over and over again. Plus the game has lackluster and outdated tutorial, wessex drags that ruins the immersion and dead ranked mode. I wish they bought some of the popular mods and introduced them into rotation and have a main screen rotations kinda like Chiv 2.
These points hit it 100% on the head. I remember the Star Wars Mod was sooooo good. I never got a chance to try the LOTR mod. Also thank you for being subscribed for over 3 years.
Lack of content feed and ping issues definitely didnt help. Mord never had issues attracting people, it just never kept them. I think there should be/have been a trainer that you could pop into that focused you on fundamentals for a few minutes. Just have a naked maul man feint/drag at you until you flinch and cronch you up. Get players used to how to deal with the most frustrating parts.
Put like 500 hours into it, got pretty good (mostly cause the only people I was playing against were level 150+) - it is indeed a shame. There unfortunately isnt any way to save it and unless you have a combat system like chiv2, which I agree seems very clunky, its impossible to make something like this without people that are very good ruining it for everyone else.
I think they could have potentially just did better with matchmaking or a separate causal vs competitive modes where competitive would be more rewarding than bullying noobs.
I've gotten decent at the game so I dont even try anymore, I basically fuck around with emotes to get a laugh. Maybe trap someone, then point and laugh after I bonk em, but then ill put the game down for months, just to come back play a few rounds. Thinking about putting in up for good
Mordhau has lost it's time to gain new long-term new players. I've got 2300+ hours in this game, and consider myself pretty good, being in the top 75 of ranked 1v1. However, I'd already sunk my teeth into this game when it was a lot more accessible (2021). At this point, I don't play the game how I used to, my only motivators are to continue climbing the skill ladder, as i've already came so far. Any potential new players don't have this insentive, nor the more generalised content to attract them and keep them when more accessible and valued swordgames are out there. It's a shame, I love this game in it's entirety, as there isn't another like it. However, along the way, the realisation that Triternion dropped the ball has set it's presence. I'll continue playing, hoping that another Mordhau may shine like this one could've, some day.
I played Chiv 1 until we could only fill a single 64 player community server. I'm happy with Chiv 2 until that point. As of right now, there's still new content being released on a decent schedule, and plenty of full servers
i think that if they would do an singleplayer campain or something like l4d type with coop to this game (around 7-8 hour long) with enemies ai trained on players in normal game mode i think it would give this game a breath of fresh air it needed. some simple story of war with sieges and field fights or something like that. but its just wishfull thinking. they did little to this game after release so its all i can do :(
Naked maul players trying their best to be annoying and the fact of how easy it is to turtle, parry and stall fights is what ruins it for me. Ffa is the worst because they stand there, team up, target you like the ego players
@@Stoukeer Absolutely agree, skill ceiling is good to an extent, but in a melee game like this, it ends up looking goofy and alienates regular people. So you end up with an exclusively hardcore sweat playerbase. It's anti-fun to most people.
@NuttyDavid when they added MTX they decided to cut costs by only having servers where it's cheapest. That's my theory at least. Game is on life support
@NuttyDavid LMAO 🤣 Everyone did. I was always focused. I just wanted different arrow tips for different armor types. I honestly haven't played the game in a very long time.
Oh that is really interesting. I have really sensitive ears so I find myself talking a little on the quite side. I have heard from a few people that I can be really quite but at the same time too loud. Let me ask some people what I should be doing for audio on my voice. I might need to turn my preamp up a little more. Sorry my voice in this video is too quite for you.
I think part of the issue is i do speak quiet in the sense that my mixing has my voice at around normal speaking in real life. Maybe a little higher... but most youtube vids crank their voice to ear damage range +6db which youtube filters back to -3db which is still loud af.
This game I am talking about just didn't add much content despite the community asking for it for years haha. But yeah lots of games don't change the maps up.
What made me stop is that, as a casual, you just have no chance and they really suck the fun out of a game. Every time you see them, you just know that the fun is over. Also, banning memers like Shokker or Shronk really killed the fun side of the game. And so many unique things like the engineer toolkit have so much unexploited potential to make teamplay even more rewarding.
I think what made the game so much fun was it did have such a light hearted memey way of playing. The roleplaying in the game was hilarious. The random spike traps you could kick people into was hilarious.
@@NuttyDavid For sure. Most fun games I have had was when messing around with the Ugly Peasants when I accidentally stumbled across them. We would do stupid shit together over multiple games like ragdolling each other in spikes, all dressing up the same, catapult trampolining on top of siege towers... So many good memories of these games.
This game dying feels like a toxic relationship naturally ended, not getting the feeling of playing this game anymore makes is surprisingly relieving

Those are all very fair points.
Honestly too mny tryhards
Yeah all the causals left the game and you just had the sweats left.
This was why I stopped. The game died like a month after release because rapier spamming child m0l3st3rs ruined it for everyone else.

That is 100% fair. There was only so much you could do and you ran out of fun after a month.
I just want a game with the fighting mechanics of something like Mordhau (or more recently Half Sword) but the sandbox campaign of Mount and Blade
Oh that would be amazing!
bro legit

Yeah it seems to be the poop tier servers in poop locations or something.
Why? Is it because they styled themselves as Chivalry and said: "Don't worry we took the fun out of Chivalry and called it Mordhau". ?
Yeah pretty much lol
Chivalry 2 to me is just more fun. Mordhau felt too serious and incomplete. Idk.
