I have a love/hate relationship with Psykio games, but I respect what they brought to the table when they were in their heyday. I've had Mobile Light Force for years, and haven't put that much time into it, and only toyed with the arcade version in MAME a little bit, so I'm looking forward to picking this one up on the Switch. Good review!
there is a PS2 collection called gunbird special edition featuring both games AND an extra difficulty setting. It just doesnt save your data for unknown reasons but one can take notes if prefered on those. Too bad the gunbird shown here doesnt have that option for setting difficulty.
It's nice to know that they have given the game a full english translation but did they include the Saturn / Playstation Japanese Animated Intro with song? If they did, then it could become the definitive version of the game.
Why is this show so god damn awesome. It's nice to see you guys take on such a beloved classic such as gunbird because I have a lot of fondness for mid 1990's shoot'em up games. The only time I've played it was an arcade version through MAME but I definitely got my enjoyment out of it regardless of how the difficulty level was. It's really nice to see the Nintendo Switch keep releasing more and more shoot'em ups. I think they're finding a great way to appeal to a mass video game audience without being so gung ho about triple a titles. Just release some good games regardless of how old or new they are and as long as the gameplay is solid then people will definitely get their enjoyment out of them.
For one, its still awesome, and it always has been, but its been a while since you've last said that quote before, or maybe I missed it a few episodes ago, lol. But yeah, I tried it out too before, and yes, the difficulty can kick it up a notch.
I see, but yeah, what if the off chance that Gunbird 2 gets ported to Switch, will that be affordable instead? I know there's the other home ports, but...who knows.
Gunbird 2 is probably my favorite shooter of all time. I personally like the characters better in GB2. I'm curious to see the difference between the US and JP versions. I looked for some info on the differences online but didn't really find anything.
Ash doesn't just like em' young, he gets with Tetsu in their co-op ending as well(watch it if you can, it's hilarious). Dude will fuck anything that moves!
Iv'e enjoyed playing gunbird on my saturn.Though, recently i just got a switch i so may buy this game again. The e-shop sure is getting allot of shooters as of late for the switch.
It's just kind of insane. If you had asked me on March 1st whether the Switch would have been a good place for shmups, I would have laughed you out of the thread. Now there are over 20 shooting games of varying types. That said I miss the animated intro from the Saturn version.
Ditto since arcade version lacks it.I wonder,if the switch will get gunbird 2 at this point to.It be some thing else to if the switch got ports of cave shmups for on the go play.
So is the switch trying to rival the PS4 for this console generations go-to for the largest and best shmup library the way the Xbox360 was for the last generation?
Tomb76ski I think it's just by luck, but I'm definitely eating my words; i was pretty sarcastic when it came to talking about getting a switch when there was a good amount of shmups.... as it turned out...
Well, sweet that Gunbird gets its spotlight, Gunbird 2 when? (lol) Anyways, if anything, do you think you'd go back to the other versions like the PS/Saturn versions, and mention about the additional stuff that was on them, or is this a one-and-done review? Yes, we heard that the "Mobile Life Force" version stripped all of its story, and content, leaving it very basic (and yeah, don't remind me about the hilariously name changes for some characters). Its even on Steam for crying out loud, and it costs less than the Switch version, lol.
Man it's never enough, is it hahaha... I don't know, we'll have to see. We have the Saturn Version like we said, but in terms of other like the PS2 version, it's more of a stretch. We actually really want to go much deeper into PC Engine going forward since we got the Engine Block AV RGB adapter for TG16 and PCE. But I'd like to look at Gunbird 2 at some point. It's still pretty affordable on Dreamcast these days, so I guess we could look into getting it after we get our first major PCE purchase of the new year.
Alright, whenever you do have the chance/time to look back into other versions, I mean, its not like this channel has already done so with Console to Steam ports lately. So this is normal.
i bought it last year..cant beat the final boss...damn those PSYKIO shmups where, in the last stage, ure doomed to start from the beginning upon death...lololol
Hey Beautiful L❤️vebirds This series iz serious on the action. I have to get Gunbird 2 for my Dreamcast. Newer versions include 1. iOS Strikers 1945 World War 2. iOS GunBird 2 3. iOS GunBird Brick Breaker Thank You Very Much For Another Great & Spectacular Year In Bullet Heaven & 🚀👾🚀SHMUPS🚀👾🚀
It actually has to do with a firmware hack vulnerability, not "SJW"s. But I have been wondering when it will be relisted. I was in contact with Zerodiv just this morning, so I'll reach out and see what's up. Make sure to follow on Twitter or on the Facebook group in the description.
I was never given an answer to that. Our version got updated, so it's possible. However, it's pretty easy to access other eshops, too. Gunbird 2 could still see release, though I'm not sure if it was announced. At the very least, we recently bought the Dreamcast version.

well isn't that weird i just got that game recently. i mostly got it since i love this game and having it on the go is very nice
BioPhoenix I liked the Sega Saturn version too. Gunbird in TATE on the go is magical.
Arcadesticks are made for games like this!!
Agreed. I should look into getting the hori stick they made for Switch.
It's nice to know that they have given the game a full english translation but did they include the Saturn / Playstation Japanese Animated Intro with song? If they did, then it could become the definitive version of the game.
Eehhh, if its anything based on the previous ACA/Neo-Geo titles, they're strictly arcade versions. Nothing from console versions, sorry about that.
They did not, they based it on the Arcade version, not the Sat/PS versions. That was one thing we wish was in this version.
Why is this show so god damn awesome.

It sure doesn't hurt that it comes to about CAD$11 after tax. It will make getting Zero Gunner 2 way easier.
Heh, I see, hopefully anything else you acquire later can be found on the cheap!
When I see a Gunbird Video..I like it.
Sweet, thanks! NeoStrayCat just got me to buy Gunbird 2, so we'll see how that goes too. JP version but whatevs lol

Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it!
Awesome. Thank you!
Thank YOU! Glad you enjoyed this episode!
The USA Arcade version doesn't reset the score after continuing either (I'm playing in MAME but should be accurate)
Interesting!

I bought Gunbird 2, just an FYI. Found a real cheap JP version.
Whoa, already? Awesome!
Please rxn raijin next 😍
We have RXN Raijin slated for episode 195!
What are you going to do for episode 200?
Mr. Peter Stevens We have plans; we dropped a decent amount of cash this past summer on it. It should be pretty good.
i bought it last year..cant beat the final boss...damn those PSYKIO shmups where, in the last stage, ure doomed to start from the beginning upon death...lololol
They're always so hilariously messed up too.
@@StudioMudprints agreed to the extreme
Any physical release on the switch?
beefcurtainz69 none announced so far
It's on Psikyo Collection vol. 1
too bad it got removed from the eshop
satan It should be back soon!
Are you still going to review Saint?
Well, we still don;t have it, but if we get around to buying it, probably. We still need to cover some Wii shmups, after all.
Studio Mudprints The game is dirt cheap on eBay.
Found one in Sherbrooke QC for $7. We just bought it.
Studio Mudprints Awesome! Can't wait for the review!
Hahaha, well, you might have to for now. We still have a bunch that are slated that got bumped down, like Raiden V.
Rxn next pleeeeeaaase
Not next, but the one after next!
I have MLF.
and MLF2
M4775K311 We have MLF2, but not the first. We have Gunbird on Saturn instead!

Isn't the Gunbird brickbreaker called Gunbarich? That's on Switch too.
Studio Mudprints
Yes it’z called Gunbarich. I’m also glad the homage Angerforce Strikers went to Steam. The Switch iz such a fun machine
Did it just say " I am trump
54therunner Yes. Not to be confused with a certain other "Trump."
Studio Mudprints wouldn't that be an localization issue????
54therunner It's only translated, not localized. big difference. The text matches what is being said very closely though.
Studio Mudprints ok thank you cause it felt odd to me
Will Gunbird ever return to the Shop at all or is it permanently banned due to SJWs complaining about content in games?
It actually has to do with a firmware hack vulnerability, not "SJW"s. But I have been wondering when it will be relisted. I was in contact with Zerodiv just this morning, so I'll reach out and see what's up. Make sure to follow on Twitter or on the Facebook group in the description.
Do you know if Gunbird will ever return to the US Shop at all or if Zerodiv has given up on it which could result in Gunbird 2 skipping a US release?
I was never given an answer to that. Our version got updated, so it's possible. However, it's pretty easy to access other eshops, too. Gunbird 2 could still see release, though I'm not sure if it was announced. At the very least, we recently bought the Dreamcast version.
That SJW theory might hold up except the UK has actual laws against lolicon manga and anime. It would be banned there long before here.
Gunbird has returned.
