I've been playing this game on their web app all week! It's so much fun - it honestly fills 99% of my board game needs. Works perfectly asynchronously!
hi u should give Neuroshima Hex a try.. it is MUCH more fun than this game because IT IS INdeed 20 minutes long... AND there is NOT Much text for u to get confused about !! AMAZING !!! ALSO WHY IS THIS CHANNEL NOT EXPLODING !! ITS GREAT !!!
Fantastic review. Loved the structure and honesty. As a huge fan of Unmatched, I got a little bit concerned when Jan said that it is missing something compared to Summoner wars, if you can explain that I would be very thankfull, or I just need to try the Summoners and I'll got it...?
Well, I think it is just me and it goes back to the Star Wars Duels time. That game is the father of Unmatched and there it just did not feel exciting enough, I guess not enough surprises for me. And I guess dice are fixing that for me. And again, just me as it seems Unmatched is very popular and well received.
@@BoardGameHangover thanks for the reply. I see, so the dice are the key 😀 I must try it! Another level of uncetainty (never know how to spell this word) seems exciting but less control sounds not so exciting 😃.
I love all of your content. Both of you are very interesting and the format of the show is so laid back and fun while still giving a very clear review of the games
I have awesome experience with this game so far! Other than these 6 factions in the Master Set, there are 2 more in the Starter Set as well as 2 more, which were recently introduced. And there are more to come! And all these factions feel unique so replayability is a real thing so far, ahah. Glad you enjoyed this one!
I love this game. I own 1st edition, but it’s more or less the same mechanics. The variability of the factions is totally the best part. Compare the summoner art from 1st edition and 2nd edition. It’s kind of fun to see how units that are in both editions have changed.
Wayne's world throwback!? This is the most one-sided review I've seen from you guys. I don't mind because I thought the same thing; this is a must have! Keep the videos rolling!
Randomly, we just picked this game up with one of the expansions. Haven't played it yet. After this video I can't wait! Although, my husband won't play Radlands with me anymore. Awesome video! Thanks guys!!
This does look interesting, even though I played 1st edition and don't remember what I thought. My only reservation would be the size of the box for a simple card game what it actually is. Really do prefer my duel games in smaller boxes.
You would not be able to fit the board and trust me, you would not want the paper one from the first edition. But other than that, you can grab the board and one small deck box for both decks and tokens. So not a problem.
Love Summoner Wars. Great game that is simple on the surface but contains very deep strategy if you want to really dive in. I have most of the decks so far released. Great to play with my 11 year old as well. Even though he usually destroys me.
Once again great review, your format is my favorite of board game reviews, well thought out, and I look forward to more coming! And yes fantastic game, I own this master set and the starter set that comes with 2 different factions already. I also have 4 more factions preordered.
Summoner Wars 1st Edition was one of my first board games along with Mice and Mystics and Blood Rage a decade ago. This really brings me back, but having played Battlelore 2nd Edition for the past few weeks now, it's a head-to-head 2 player game JUST like Summoner Wars but bigger, even more tactical, with miniatures, but it's as simple and easy-to-learn, hard-to-master as Summoner Wars is. Ant it's hexagons instead of squares. Now.. it's REALLY hard to go back to using just cards instead of miniatures, SPECIALLY after you painted them all 😅 Battlelore really is on another level but it resembles a lot to this.
I used to own Battlelore (both at one point or another). That is a fantastic game and system in general. But where summoner wars does take upper hand is set-up ;) Oh man, I wish I had the discipline to paint more than 1 mini at a time.

It's awesome to hear that! Makes our day
Any chance you guys will review the expansion decks they've released?

aw yeaaaah, still everytime hyped when the notification comes up! -> leaving a sweet comment cookie for that algorithm 🍪
Thanks Rammy! Comment cookies are the best cookies 😀
If you guys are still enjoying this game a lot, I co-host a podcast called Discard for Magic and we would love to have you guys on!

Keyforge is great too! I agree that Unmatched is fun but “missing something” compared to Summoner Wars.
This game is my favourite board game of all time!

At first we felt a bit bad it turned out this one-sided, but at the end of the day this game is just EXCELLENT!

My girlfriend and I also love this game!
I love this game so much! It reminds me of HoMM3 battles :D New decks/factions, Cloaks and Avian Empire are really good too!
Need to get our hand to those new decks!
Will u review Ashes Reborn later please?
If we get our hands on a copy, we might.

Great review! Have been on the fence for this one for a while. Will move it up my list. Looks like a lot of fun.
It is tons of fun! :)
Thanks for the video. Thinking about upgrading from 1e. An emerging alternative to this is Ascension Tactics.

My favorite game! And I love the video, will definitely be keeping an eye out for more!
Will have to try this one...I played Mage Wars Arena and enjoy it ...this one has similar vibes. Another great review!
I used to love Mage Wars but it became a bit too long for me and I traded it. But since kids are older, I should get back into it. Hmm.
@@BoardGameHangover I think you should. You know you want to make a SpellBook..lol
Please make review of Northgard and Near and Far
I was thinking about buying/trying this game a lot and now here is your great review! 😃 I guess that's the sign to give it a go. 😁
Sure is a sign ';)
Love the goblin! You should make a top 10 games for goblins.
What would your top 3 be?

@@BoardGameHangover Indeed, Summoner Wars is stupid fast to put on the table, it's amazing.
This game is like 12 years old , it was just decks
At first it was, yes, with a paper board. But after 12 years it is still rockin!
@@BoardGameHangover has there been improvements or errata? Is it the same original decks? You mentioned something about new decks are coming?
