I guess they're going all in on the "realistic martial arts" style, with all the really nice animations and so on, which is nice not just because it means the gameplay is gonna stay faithful, but also because there's no other FG out there right now that does this. This will hopefully mean VF can stand out next to all the other current fighting games.
I really hope so! It's funny how as all the fighting games franchises have become more fantasy and anime influenced, VF aiming for a more grounded presentation and combat system will really end up standing out (that's my hope at least)
@@TheElectricUnderground and Virtua Fighter is not only grounded but also technician to various fighting games performers. 2. While There are fighting games which while grounded are performers.
Yeah I hope so! I'm still a bit nervous since they didn't show us the combat system, but I'm currently cautiously optimistic. Also it s great the vf5 finally has rollback and a PC port!
For the sake of realism, I'd like to see them remove air juggling, and replace it with something like a brief grounded stun state which opens your opponent up for a combo or big move or something. Also, anyone else notice how there's different floor elevations? There's a huge curb that they step up and down in the gameplay footage.
At last, one of VF3 features that was different floor elevation is coming back stronger than ever. The reason why VF3 Online was only for Japan market is to get the feedback for top rated players.
That is a really interesting! Yeah removing air juggles would be a really bold direction where all the damage is done standing and with throws, that's a cool idea
Would that be more similar to the DOA system? I kind of like that! If the meter is introduced, that would be nice to use as a parry tool. Maybe that is what “Stella” used when she didn’t seem to have to duck to block Akira’s low kick. I do like launching opponents though, so I hope that doesn’t go away. I liked how a critical hit would happen in DOA and then you could launch the opponent and finish the combo. VF probably won’t copy that, but I’d welcome that type of system in VF. That also opens an invitation to suffering DOA players who miss their game. I’m just saying, I bought DOA5LR only because of the 4 VF guest characters. They play very well in that game. Best guest character inclusion I’ve seen so far. Sorry for typing a book, I’m excited 😂
there's a no UI node in VF5 REVO, it's really cool actually, it changes your mentality in the fight since you're not sure how much life your opponent has left.
Speaking of innovation. The vf 4 Evo training mode and overall package still resonates with me as the best in-game Fighting game training mode. I'm glad everyone else is catching up.
@@hurricane7727 Which is basically an evolution of SEGA Saturn Virtua Fighter 2 Expert Mode where the AI is getting better once they learn moves player used.
Vf4 Evo is soooo good! I love that game, it was really forward thinking of a release and I especially enjoy the quest mode of the game, one of the best single player modes in a fighting game for sure
Two thing stand out to me in the short 6 clip. One the stage didn't look like a standard box with optional walls but a non-uniform city street, and two when Sarah (stella?) blocks a low from akira she isn't crouching but lifts her leg up.
Ooooh damn. That could end up being like a way more refined and better take on how Bushido Blade battles played out, except modern Sega has so much Yakuza tech to cook with for realizing environments. Imagine every time a stage comes up, the side on fight starts from a different spot, to keep it fresh. Not full running around or anything, but I can see that.
Yes, I get the impression it's going to be at least partially or possibly even a fully interactive environmental physics based open fighting arena. A street fight is going to mean a street fight with no compromises, you will hit whatever is nearby and there will be realistic physical reactions. It feels like SEGA actually read some of my posts when the rumours first hit a couple of years ago. I am still buzzing from that VF Direct presentation.
I caught that too. In fact all of the blocks are different which makes me think instead of just holding a standard block position there are different animations to have it mimic actual martial arts.
@@dingusdangus9299 I’ve definitely seen this implemented in an action game but never in a fighter and I always wondered why. I thought maybe it was for balance purposes. Or maybe they just didn’t want to do it because it’s not a genre standard.
STREET FIGHTER 6 leaned into the "street" aspect and aged up its long time heroes so there is a template for what they're trying to do here. STREET FIGHTER 6 also contains a long form single player pseudo-YAKUZA action RPG mode that teaches you all the mechanics, and I would be shocked if we don't see some version of that.
Ha the funny part about vf6 is if they added a Yakuza single player mode like sf6 did ... It could literally be Yakuza lol. That would be really funny.
It would be amazing. I hope they go this route. Not only because I love single player modes in fighting games (specially the ones focused on gameplay like Sould Edge or SFZero3) but because it will increase the appeal of the game to the general public.
That small gameplay sample just looks so cool and smooth. It's beautiful. I also love how they're going for "reality" instead of anime batshit insanity like every other series. And i'm glad RGG Studio is in board with it. I've been saying for years now that both VF and Shenmue should make use of them and their engine.
What a time to be alive. I hope you're right and that the "reality" part stays true. I miss the early era of Tekken that was silly of course.. but had this great edge, the grit of Tekken 2. I think 3d fighters should lean into reality more, they have been guilty of aping the 2d fighter in the absence of the original master workers.
Sure would be quite dope if the new Virtua Fighter could give us a good single player story mode in the same style as say Quest Mode from Virtua Fighter 4 Evolution (Best game in the series if you ask me). Like imagine this game having about the same great storytelling as say Yakuza: Like a Dragon with the same excellent fighting mechanics that defined Virtua Fighter from the very beginning. And who knows, maybe some cameos from Kazuma Kiryu, Ichiban Kasuga, Goro Majima, etc.
@@000shad and SpikeOut! Sega has a lot of options for bringing in guest characters from their franchises that would still fit Virtua Fighter's more serious, less fantastical aesthetic. (Not that Yakuza or other Sega games can't be goofy, but Kiryu or Spike aren't going to throw out a fireball or grow wings and shoot lasers).
Yes this should materialize as the Virtua Fighter RPG. These 3 games together would be bigger than the sum of all parts. It's doable for sure, they just need to make it happen.
Sega is gonna knock this one out the park. They unknowingly did a good thing by riding VF5 for almost 15 years. Did hards are gonna come back and the Tekken and SF communities have finally hit the wall when it comes to innovation and depth. The player base is primed thirsty for some good OG fighting games. VF is about to steal the show.
Ask any young gamers about VF. They have no idea what it is...crazy right? As much as I want VF6 to gain more audience and huge success, I doubt that it will lure the big 3 (SF, Tekken and MK) players. Unless they promote the shit out this game. Get people to know this game first. Put ads everywhere! Even in toilet papers. The thing about SEGA is they always have this "bad luck" despite their innovative and revolutionary products. Remember Dreamcast death, Shenmue and many of their games never reach their potential sales. Why? Because lack of promotion is one of the key factor. To be fair in the past years SEGA starting to realize that and start to change their strategy.
@@Takrezz Sega's promotion has never been the problem. If anything, it was their being good at promotions that saved them. At least in North America. So many factors to Sega's hardware downfall but I agree with bad luck and a mix of making hardheaded decisions.
@@bobba515 Honestly, it isn't, you just need to spend a bit of time with it. VF is more forgiving than Tekken in that there aren't any one touch of death combos. The only time you're really in trouble in the game, is when you're up against the wall, and even then, your opponent needs to know the specific set up to take full advantage of it and get the sort of damage you should be scared of. You can actually afford to make a few mistakes in neutral and not lose an entire round for it, that's the beauty of the game. First person to screw up in Tekken basically loses the round. On top of that, you now have a complete skip of neutral with the stupid heat system that is given to you right at the start of each round, so meta dominates that game. Your opponent can literally pop heat and get a lucky hit on you and you've lost the basically the entire round through not even having really done anything wrong. In VF, you have to legitimately earn every round, you cannot button mash or get lucky with any player who knows how to the play the game. That is why I know (not even believe) that it is and will always remain the king of the 3D fighters.
I'm quite impressed by the short pre-alpha gameplay footage of Akira & Stella/Sarah battling in the alley way because it looked quite dynamic like it was a scene from martial arts movie rather than a fighting game. The next VF game needs more spectacle to compete and they've chosen to double down on being an interactive kung fu movie rather than fantasy/anime. That's the direction I was hoping for and I'm quite relieved.
The word innovation is so important and interesting in this context as VF was the pioneer of so many elements of gameplay, but with virtua fighter being stuck on 5 for 20 years, it embodies the stagnation of games as an entire medium. That they choose to go back to the word “innovation” simultaneously goes back to its roots while also looking to the future where anything is possible. It’s time for gaming to finally begin to move forward instead of iterate and who to trust more than SEGA who’s starting to remember who it js and what it represented
For sure! I'm optimistic we will get something true to the series in vf6, at least so far. You can feel the old man energy in the presentation lol, which I really appreciate. I think this is a game that s gonna try to do some cool new ideas but will remain very true to VF
Yeah, I get how you feel to a certain extent, but I also feel you have to add something new to the formula as well. The new stages that are more interactive and actually have variety, instead of just the old school box ring out arenas, are already a step in the right direction.
Competitive is trash man, that's the truth, I'd rather play non competitive Bloody Roar and broken DOA 3 than this boring technical million hits juggle fest they call fighting games nowadays.
Like the production on your videos. I played every 3d fighter regularly back in the 90s including VF and DOA. People don’t realize that no relevant VF is like if Guilty Gear has no SF to compete against. Virtua Fighter is THE 3d fighter and always will be
Yes, preach it! I laugh because these Millennials mock and disrespect Virtua Fighter while not even realising that the original Tekken was literally birthed from Virtua Fighter! The DOA community are more respectful, because they know the original Dead or Alive was guess what? Birthed from the original Model 2 engine used for Virtua Fighter 2! Everything started with SEGA and will come back to SEGA!!!
I mean, having a reboot doesnt necessarily mean you can't have characters from 4 and 5 alongside series mainstays. In a potential reboot, you could idealy have every character exist all at the same time for story's sake. Though im happy with whatever RGG decide to go with at this point.
The variety of terrain in the teaser is certainly interesting. Dumpster, a pole, some crates, a tire. Id imagine most likely it will just add some flair to the fight as it goes on but if there was unique physics involved then that would get pretty wild. I was playing through Xmen vs Street Fighter yesterday and Rogues ending asks Chun Li what its like to be normal and Chun Li's response was 'Normal? I can throw fireballs.' There is still a space for realism. I think aiming for being the most fluid fighting game would certainly be a worthy goal. It could get a lot of 'feels like Spiderman 9/10' reviews.
VF is the most fun I’ve had with a deep fighting game so it won me over from Tekken. I started enjoying Street fighter more over the years, but now seeing this makes me super excited and I hope Virtua Fighter will also release for Switch 2 as well! This is probably the best announcement for me this year along with new 2D Ninja Gaiden! Hope they really stay true to the series with no streamlined mechanics or cheap specials.
I dropped out of fighting games ages ago and I'm glad to hear people here and there echo some of the problems I had with a lot of the ones that are really popular. Onesided combo fests, meter gating abilities, excessive focus on supers, terrible TERRIBLE single player content, and these days an over emphasis on eSports. I don't really care for realistic visuals, but at least in this space, it'd be refreshing. Kind of tired of the same handful of anime styles that dominate the space any time I see my friends playing some new fighter. Obviously I'm the outlier. I know a lot of people like this stuff. That's fine. But I think I could get into VF for the first time when this new one comes out.
I remember and I hate Tekken but it had tons of single player content specially 3 and 6, secrets, cinematics, story mode, skins in game, a beat em up, minigames, MK used to have a better beat em up regarding lore and levels, it had a kart Game, tons of hidden levels, interactive stages, MK vs DC had this interactive free falls and close combat minigames, cool transitions something DOA did better, solid story and interactions something DOA used to do, include guests like Tekken 7 and Soul Calibur VI did, I remember quick events up to injustice I, there were routes like on Soul Calibur III, different choices even for endings, mazes for arcade, Challenges, dopplegangers, hidden bosses, other games like Fighters Destiny has different unlocked characters depending on the game mode, codes like on MK ultimate and Bloody Roar, stages transitions as DOA, competitive AI like on DOA 3 and 4. Files for characters, exhibitions like Soul Calibur, different effects depending on the Gear, weird effects and stats random encounters like on Blazblue, art to be unlocked and cosmetics via single player content, Tag like on DOA up to DOA5LR etc, Even a smash type of mode would be great instead of nowadays fall guys type of lobbyies. I wouldn't play something else but it has to be focused on the game, if you have let's say a Kart game well that's because that's Robert's minigame, cards with Sarah etc, a lot better than the lame Street Fighter wannabe open world, characters are the driving force otherwise it should be the plot or the lore, anyway, that's something I do not see happening.
knew you'd be happy with all the recent vf buzz and us vfboomers FINALLY getting what we want after waiting for so long if we get another doa that's good it might cause my brain to overload
Yeah that is true ... I really hope that is not the case but it's absolutely a possibility. I hope they show us how the combat system works in the near future and it won't be metered and all that
Just because you think most companies aren't doing those things that doesn't mean words have changed their meaning. This just sounds like you're quoting some RUclipsr.
I haven't been this exited for a fighting game in a loooong, loooong time. I absolutely love the art style of the trailer, and the philosophy of realistic martial arts action gels with me 100%.
I sincerely hope there is no meter. I just want my full move list available at any time and its up to me to find the right positioning and timing to use whatever is in my full arsenal of tricks
The biggest improvement into their direction of realism is to remove the floating animation for juggles It has been a main criticism for VF since Its inception. I beleieve they have the engine to do it now . Floating bodies to not reflect realism.
ultras and supers are 2D fighting game concepts and it's completely ridiculous 3D fighters started implementing them. It's like they saw a "3D" fighter like Mortal Kombat doing it, and thought "hey we should too!".
I think I'd like to see a separate sidestep/evade button to allow for sidestepping in more directions (sideways plus farther/closer to the opponent). Then the dpad would be exclusively for jump/crouch and left/right movement like 2D fighting games, which I think is easier to understand for newcomers.
Oh did you know they had a sidestep button in vf3! (Vf fun fact) I'm not sure exactly what they will do but yes I think the will play with side step in some fashion
IIRC, the DoA2 did something similar in its Dreamcast and PS2 releases (hold trigger down, then you can move in 3d instead of crouching or jumping). They moved away from this for the Ultimate release on Xbox
That is why ill always love doa 5 over 6 to me as the innovation was ahead of its time. With the cliff hangers and power blows and critical strikes or stuns. that were not just one button specials, there was skill to it, and i have always found the characters more weighted and real feeling than most fighting games. Same with virtual fighter always felt more real and gritty to me same with doa as in block reverses who does not want to slam there foes through a wall or a chair i felt that doa too had a sweet spot between the specials in the sens of yes you got a bg hit but it was not overly fantastic in the sense you could come back from it and still lose. Doa 6 killed this with the one button specials and no cliff hangers. So sad as been a fan of doa since day one and love virtual fighter too also virtual fighters in doa 5 was the best.
It makes sense that they release a final version of VF5 as a test for 6, especially since you see something similar at the end of T7. I just hope the game ends up having a really solid final version and that it sets a precedent for leaving fighting games in a good state of playability, especially in the context of reviving older franchises. I'm calling it now, they will add a middle eastern character like Shaheen and Rashid. They have established themselves as a part of the pro FGC circuit at this point
For graphics I don't mind if they go hyper really with the shaders but I hope they keep the stylized faces, so far it's seems they aren't trying to make them look like real person like how MK is trying to do but just applying a realistic materials/textures on stylized faces!! The animation in that short clip looked great apart from the way how Sarah hit the ground after the throw, she fell like a log! Also happy they are keeping the grounded style! My hope is they bring back uneven levels or some new/ innovative way to interact with the stages and bring back every character from the previous games! I kinda enjoy how the walls work in 5! Like it's unpredictable and it keeps the player try to guess and react to what happens!
This. I don't want boring, boxed in linear stages with static camera angles. Thankfully, early indications are suggesting that won't be the case anyway.
They seem to be going for that Kung Fu Hustle look, which I'm totally fine with, I think VF is in safe hands. Also yeah nothing is going to top VF5FS for Japanese players, the data and hours played is unmatched, it is the very definition of what you call a legacy title, I wonder if the new VF game will also get an arcade release, I think it should, I think this was one mistake Namco did with Soul Calibur 6 and Tekken 8, these games are rooted in arcade lore, even if it's just a few machines, interesting times ahead for sure.
Its interesting how u can literally play VF in yakuza games when u go to the arcade u can play sega arcade games and VF is one of them and now RGG will be the one to make the new game for it Also i love akira's design he look so cool and like u said they will bring some of the cool elements from yakuza like presentation and amazing style to VF that would draw many people in, am so excited to see more informations about the game in the future
Reaaaally hoping this will be good. Hope they understand how high the bar is nowadays. Players expect a lot; the amount of features needed in a modern fighting game release is much higher than when vf5 came out.
I wish I could watch this in full but I must sleep 😣 I'm excited to see your take. I think no matter what innovation VF makes the Tekken devs will try to sneakily take it 😅
I can't wait. I've been a virtua fighter fan since the first game. I remember as a pre teen playing the original arcade all the time and it was the super cool non stand up cabinet it was the one where two people could sit down next to each other and there was like a table in front of you with the arcade sticks built in. (Sorry I don't know what this cabinet was called)
I'm guessing they're gonna go "martial arts film" esque based off presentation which I'm all for. I'm happy it's here as a newer fan after Ultimate Showdown and am eager for more of those directs
VF2 here as well. Doing a double ring out and seeing the camera in the replay derp out had me laughing back in the day (simple mind) and that music tho. Got VF3 for the DC but could never get into it. Now have 4 loaded up on an emulation handheld so will try it for the first time (some 20 years late). A friend had 1 which was amazing back in the day and was partly the reason I chose the Saturn>PS1. Tekken got all the attention sadly (3 was cool too tho).
I Hope the Game has still the iconic stages. A beach with Sand and the ocean big SEGA BLUE SKY with White Clouds and sunshine. I guess people WHO Love vf know what i mean 😄☝️
Your takes are great as usual, HOWEVER, I think you might of missed a very important detail about the world and style. Maybe I misunderstood but I think they said during the direct that the new RGG game they are working on and VF6 crossover. I dunno if that means they are going to share characters or what but someone said it.
I quit Tekken when T8 came out because it finally went so far into ridiculous anime fighter i couldn't take it. If VF remains grounded I will play it 100%
Good thoughts in this video as always. Our community of local vf players were watching the direct together in discord chat and I'm bringing vf5 to my local today. We never stopped!
Im glad the consensus from everybody ive heard from is, "no meters". Ive fully bailed from tekken at this point because im sick of all the damn meter type gimmicks and insane amount of armor moves. I've really enjoyed the revo beta and im looking forward to 6 but if there's some sort of meter system im going to be disappointed
I am absolutely one of those people who avoided VF in the past because of how bland and flavorless everything looked compared to the field. That said, the direct and that very small snippet of gameplay for VF6 is catching my interest - not just for the way things are looking, but because I have a glimmer of hope from the team and what they are currently saying that a modern-era fighting game might release without completely homogenizing (or just straight up altering) its systems and mechanics. Not every single fighting game ever needs to shoehorn meter and supers and what-have-you into its gameplay, and hopefully VF doesn't fall into the "longer combos = better" trap either. Sega has my interest for sure. Looking forward to seeing more.
@@hurricane7727 I think T8 looks great in terms of raw fidelty but yeah, I'm not the biggest fan of the game in its current state lol. Hate to be that guy but older fighting games are better, so I just stick with those. . . still waiting for something modern to really catch my interest and VF6 surprisingly might be the one.
I really hope its not VF5 with slight system updates and better visuals. They should display that 3D fighting games have a huge ceiling above them. Just like they did back in the day.
I want Virtua Fighter to be the premier 3D fighter. Since street fighter 4 , Tekken has chased for spectacle with no substance. I argue that Tekken 5 was the last great Tekken game. Every game after is anime over the top, fireworks bullshit. It will be sick if VF had no life bars! THAT will be a game changer!
@justinmercado3183 my Last one was Tekken Tag 2 because I like it's Roster( Almost Every Tekken Character was playable)and It at least had all the Regular Game modes despite Balance issues( Harada Lied saying Tag 2 would be Balanced before it released). I don't like 7 and 8 because alot of game modes are gone like Survival, Time Attack, Team Battle and no Mimic Character.
Normally I only buy games that run natively on Linux. You've sold me well enough on VF5 that I'm considering giving REVO a go when it's released, since many of the beta testers confirm that it runs nearly perfectly on Linux through Proton. (Provided they don't add any DRM or kernel anti-cheat or anything like that for the final release.) Similarly, the more modern Yakuza games apparently also run great via Proton, so VF6 is very likely to follow suite. If I enjoy VF5 enough, I just may jump into VF6. That said, I've never really played a 3d-style fighting game like Tekken, DoA, Soul Calibur, Virtua Fighter, etc, so I'm not sure yet that I'll enjoy that type of gameplay. I guess I'll get to see how it goes with VF5 REVO.
If they really do go all in on a grounded fighting game with a focus on just pure martial arts I'd be super interested in getting into virtua fighter. Tekken has lost me for a while now but I especially dropped the game with 7 because the new art direction alone was enough to turn me away. Very keen to learn more about Virtua Fighter.
Good to see your reaction to this. I didn't see it coming even though VF has been mentioned lately. Only thing I called was finally seeing Team Ico / gen DESIGN's game under Epic. TGA was awesome.
Oh s***, I was so excited, I didn't even notice the girl I was seeing on screen isn't Sarah, that's...weird, I'm now even more curious to see how they'll tackle the roster of characters, if this really is a time skip, it's a risky move.
Heya Mark! I can’t believe how young and subtle my hand skin looked over 10 years ago :) The new VF6 appears like the magic of the old Sega could be returning, looking promising.
I cannot express how absolutely sick I am of fireworks and explosions popping off every few seconds in 3D fighters... and extra gages and heat bars, SUPERS etc... Even silly guest characters. I get it... it sells to the shitmunchers but I'm so bored of it all. This new VF even in its prealpha state looks like a breath of fresh air... True, clean fighting. I'm so ready!
I'mma so hyped to this game, se need a realistic FG, olny in a few seconds of this gameplay we see how incredible is, and this have a huge potential, imagine a MMA fighter, Boxing fighter and kick boxing character in this game. I cannot wait to see more of this game.
Virtua Fighter is in with the new now. I would like to see Akira season DLC of Tekken 8 if that happens. I also want Virtua Fighter live action movie for the 30th anniversary of Virtua Fighter.
I guess they're going all in on the "realistic martial arts" style, with all the really nice animations and so on, which is nice not just because it means the gameplay is gonna stay faithful, but also because there's no other FG out there right now that does this. This will hopefully mean VF can stand out next to all the other current fighting games.
Better term would they going technical side of Martial Arts whether then a performer.

That is a really interesting! Yeah removing air juggles would be a really bold direction where all the damage is done standing and with throws, that's a cool idea
Would that be more similar to the DOA system?

Yes, I get the impression it's going to be at least partially or possibly even a fully interactive environmental physics based open fighting arena.
A street fight is going to mean a street fight with no compromises, you will hit whatever is nearby and there will be realistic physical reactions.
It feels like SEGA actually read some of my posts when the rumours first hit a couple of years ago.
I am still buzzing from that VF Direct presentation.
I caught that too. In fact all of the blocks are different which makes me think instead of just holding a standard block position there are different animations to have it mimic actual martial arts.

If they’ll add Kamurocho I’ll be screaming
It would be amazing. I hope they go this route. Not only because I love single player modes in fighting games (specially the ones focused on gameplay like Sould Edge or SFZero3) but because it will increase the appeal of the game to the general public.
Good point, and I can imagine it having arcades with ports of VF 1-4 in them aswell!
There is gonna be a story mode according to leaks we just don't know how it'll be handled
Hopefully you're right about no anime.Never liked it in fighting games.
Blending Virtua Fighter, Shenmue, and Yakuza would be a godsend.
Are you 5?
And SOR (adapted)
Pretty sure this is one of the bases of what will happen. Sega will go beyond expectations tho.
The presentation for VF6/VF5 R.E.V.O. was no non-sense and straight to the point.
🤞
VF has always been a niche game and VF6 won't change that. It's still a very hard game to play
Realistic kung fu movie vibe is what I’m getting from it.
Hopefully this is what we get because that sounds awesome
Is should Technical Kung fu movie vibe.
I think the presence of Jacky among fighting games' army of Bruce Lee clones deserves to be acknowledged.
Absolutely! Jacky rules, I especially love his racing jacket character design
There's a gap for a grounded, gritty martial arts fighting game in the scene now. I just hope Sega doesn't screw up this one.
Anime is a medium, not a genre.
So, ignorance is displeases me.
Don't forget pioneer of visuals too, you can't talk about the roots of SEGA without mentioning that.
I do like your videos on Virtua Fighter.
Yeah....uh...
how do I say this?
I don't want a made for modern audiences Virtua Fighter.
Sometimes done and dusted is better.
For sure! I'm optimistic we will get something true to the series in vf6, at least so far. You can feel the old man energy in the presentation lol, which I really appreciate. I think this is a game that s gonna try to do some cool new ideas but will remain very true to VF
@@TheElectricUnderground i'll remain incredibly skeptical and cautious.
That's paid off for a while.
@dontbothertoreply9755 I definitely feel like this a bot 😅. I never said ANYTHING about competitive play 🤣
The only thing I hope is that everyone is there.
not a single removal, Virtua Fighter has a cast far too small to allow it to remove characters.
Hate to break it to you but you're gonna end up having to buy some legacy character for 6 bucks
I think you might even have to buy Sarah, since there's apparently a character visually similar to her on the starting roster.
Tekken fans dissing other games because they might be nostalgia pandering cash grabs is hilarious. The irony is palpable.
I need to really get into Virtua Fighter.
knew you'd be happy with all the recent vf buzz and us vfboomers FINALLY getting what we want after waiting for so long
if we get another doa that's good it might cause my brain to overload
VF players aren't Boomer generation.
Boomers would be your grandparents.
Daily reminder- "Innovation" and "Evolution" in gaming just means becoming more like everything else.
Its sad how correct this statement is.
but maybe the old timers will stay true to themselves
Yeah that is true ... I really hope that is not the case but it's absolutely a possibility. I hope they show us how the combat system works in the near future and it won't be metered and all that
Just because you think most companies aren't doing those things that doesn't mean words have changed their meaning. This just sounds like you're quoting some RUclipsr.
@@TheElectricUnderground vf4 EVOLUTION begs to differ !
"We are innovating by evolving the series to be profitable"
I haven't been this exited for a fighting game in a loooong, loooong time. I absolutely love the art style of the trailer, and the philosophy of realistic martial arts action gels with me 100%.
So exited, you're no longer in the building.
They better not. It's not UFC 3.
When I saw the news I wanted to see Mark's reaction to it.
I'm especially happy we're getting a version of vf5 for pc.
I hope they have the balls to keep the game grounded and old school Mano a mano. No ULTRAS or SUPER meters!
I'm not completely against a meter of some sort but I'd prefer if they don't.
ultras and supers are 2D fighting game concepts and it's completely ridiculous 3D fighters started implementing them. It's like they saw a "3D" fighter like Mortal Kombat doing it, and thought "hey we should too!".
@@Piizzachuu Sega doesn't do that. Supers won't show.
@@GuestUser-jf8ujYea that stuff was so bad in Soulcal and now Tekken has it....
I hope we dont lose older characters like shun or lau. I hope all characters return. And we get more new players
May be they will implement the two options (direction or buttun to step)
IIRC, the DoA2 did something similar in its Dreamcast and PS2 releases (hold trigger down, then you can move in 3d instead of crouching or jumping). They moved away from this for the Ultimate release on Xbox
The aesthetics of it remind me of the Ip Man movies, which is cool. VF was all about Chinese martial arts.
That's Project Century, jk, I would buy the other one first, tired of the competitive scene.
Wrestling, Pankration, Savate, Hagakure-ryu/Aiki Ju-jutsu, Sumo, Vale Tudo, Muay Thai, Judo, Lucha Libre, Kyokushin are no Chinese martial arts.
And we need Yu Suzuki to be back!
DoA fans be like..... ;_;
That is why ill always love doa 5 over 6 to me as the innovation was ahead of its time.
Great video man! You know your VF stuff, and to post such an informative and quality video so quickly after the reveal is impressive. Subbed 👏
Virtua Fighter is back, Tokyo Extreme Racer is back, best news I heard all year
Its interesting how u can literally play VF in yakuza games when u go to the arcade u can play sega arcade games and VF is one of them and now RGG will be the one to make the new game for it
Also i love akira's design he look so cool and like u said they will bring some of the cool elements from yakuza like presentation and amazing style to VF that would draw many people in, am so excited to see more informations about the game in the future
He is the only protagonist without and edgy featherly side, last straight fighter protagonist, oh well, there is Terry also.

No more reboots . Seeing the new virtua fighter trailer and developed gameplay looks pretty good and sharp .
Reaaaally hoping this will be good.
Hope they understand how high the bar is nowadays. Players expect a lot; the amount of features needed in a modern fighting game release is much higher than when vf5 came out.
I know it's gonna be difficult but not we're missing a new SC and a DOA. I pray.
I was waiting for this video, as I know you really enjoy this series. I'm glad that it's getting a new entry, and I hope it ends up being worthy!
I wish I could watch this in full but I must sleep 😣 I'm excited to see your take. I think no matter what innovation VF makes the Tekken devs will try to sneakily take it 😅
Have a good rest!! So far I think VF6 seems to still be solidly rooted in the core of the series, at least reading the tea leaves so far ha
I've definitely got my eye on this!
I can’t WAIT!!
My childhood memories of vf 2 and vf kids
Vf is such a cozy series, it s crazy how many good vibes it generates ha
VF2 here as well. Doing a double ring out and seeing the camera in the replay derp out had me laughing back in the day (simple mind) and that music tho. Got VF3 for the DC but could never get into it. Now have 4 loaded up on an emulation handheld so will try it for the first time (some 20 years late). A friend had 1 which was amazing back in the day and was partly the reason I chose the Saturn>PS1. Tekken got all the attention sadly (3 was cool too tho).
My childhood jam was vf remix, since it came with my friend's saturn
Man,you need to talk about the new Onimusha and the new Ninja Gaiden games! please! great channel!
I Hope the Game has still the iconic stages. A beach with Sand and the ocean big SEGA BLUE SKY with White Clouds and sunshine. I guess people WHO Love vf know what i mean 😄☝️
this will be day1 for me. also already preordered vf 5 revo.

Taka being the same weight as the others wouldn't make sense
Your takes are great as usual, HOWEVER, I think you might of missed a very important detail about the world and style.
Maybe I misunderstood but I think they said during the direct that the new RGG game they are working on and VF6 crossover. I dunno if that means they are going to share characters or what but someone said it.
I quit Tekken when T8 came out because it finally went so far into ridiculous anime fighter i couldn't take it. If VF remains grounded I will play it 100%
They misspelled Virtual. 0/10 would not play.
It s funny how long I called it virtual fighter growing up ... The mind automatically adds the L. Virtua def has that swagger to it though
Virtual On is the weird one.

Virtua Cop
Virtua Tennis
Virtua Racing
Virtua Striker
Virtual On

loving the exmosquito crt lol
Good thing we have this news. We gonna talk about the new Ninja Gaiden?
Good thoughts in this video as always. Our community of local vf players were watching the direct together in discord chat and I'm bringing vf5 to my local today. We never stopped!
i've been waiting for this upload since the announcement! lol
That looks like EXmosquito playing his supergun
Interesting that the Tekken customization options are not available for R.E.V.O.
6:54 well that’s a silly worry, VF has always been more grounded compared to other fighting games.
I have zero complaints. This is your best video yet.
Very excited to get VF on PC and a sequel to boot. Hail to the (hopefully still) gameplay king.
Now Team Ninja has no choice BUT to develop Dead or Alive 7!
I love the RGG games so getting this and Project Century back to back was crazy.
Eileen nuff said.
And Tekken 8 now looks weird. Supposed to be a Hand to Hand Fighter but has a Sword Guy in it
@@hurricane7727 I think T8 looks great in terms of raw fidelty but yeah, I'm not the biggest fan of the game in its current state lol. Hate to be that guy but older fighting games are better, so I just stick with those. . . still waiting for something modern to really catch my interest and VF6 surprisingly might be the one.
tekken had dinosaurs and bears fighting in it

I really hope its not VF5 with slight system updates and better visuals.
They should display that 3D fighting games have a huge ceiling above them.
Just like they did back in the day.
I want Virtua Fighter to be the premier 3D fighter. Since street fighter 4 , Tekken has chased for spectacle with no substance. I argue that Tekken 5 was the last great Tekken game. Every game after is anime over the top, fireworks bullshit.
It will be sick if VF had no life bars! THAT will be a game changer!
How about Tekken 5 Dark Ressurection?
@ DR was good. So yes DR would be last good Tekken game for me.
(Provided they don't add any DRM or kernel anti-cheat or anything like that for the final release.)
Similarly, the more modern Yakuza games apparently also run great via Proton, so VF6 is very likely to follow suite.
I played the REVO open beta on the steam deck and I can confirm it runs flawlessly
I just realised the UI from SpikeOut reminds me of the Super Monkey Ball UI !
Good to see your reaction to this. I didn't see it coming even though VF has been mentioned lately. Only thing I called was finally seeing Team Ico / gen DESIGN's game under Epic. TGA was awesome.
I'm so tired of the fantasy approach tekken went into since 7, maybe 6.
This game seems like a breath of fresh air.
Definitely 6 with characters like Bob, Alisa, Lars and Zafina
@@WatsonDynamite Yeah, you're right
Oh s***, I was so excited, I didn't even notice the girl I was seeing on screen isn't Sarah, that's...weird, I'm now even more curious to see how they'll tackle the roster of characters, if this really is a time skip, it's a risky move.
IM SO IN
Heya Mark! I can’t believe how young and subtle my hand skin looked over 10 years ago :) The new VF6 appears like the magic of the old Sega could be returning, looking promising.
I am so happy, VF is going to be a great RPG
I’ve been loving the REVO beta after so long of wanting VF on PC. Really good stuff, though the rollback netcode clearly has issues still.
Burning soul!
I hope you are right bro!
