I had the same thing happen with a soft bait where the tail foul hook on the tail and I had a dd on but when the bait popped out it looked like yours did with the taihooked on the tail but i was fighting mine for at least 40 second so i think it never got hooked by the hook but the bait was probably jammed nin its crushers until it popped out. Netboy was too slow.
My dad, brother and I caught like 2 fish in 3 hours, I switched to a brown Neko rig, and caught a bunch, biggest was a 3 pound spot
Had a coyote chase a cotton tail out of some tullies about 30ft away from me while I was bank fishing this morning. My favorite was late September, stopped and watched a coyote stalk a flock of turkeys at Eastman from my kayak.

What kinda kayak do you have? And have you ever took it out on Silverwood lake?
You almost had it man! Don’t get too down on that lost Hudd fish. Happens sometimes. Tail just got in the way of the hook. Jig hook will work. No need for a stinger but that Butch Brown rig might be a good option for you just because you’re on a kayak and it will help you keep it pinned while you’re netting it. You’re gonna get one soon. I guarantee it!

Regarding what you said about the trailer hook... In TacticalBassins more recent in-depth swimbait video Matt talked about how many big bass are killed because of a trailer hook deep In their throat. Just saying though obviously a trailer hook would have been nice on that fish that came off!

The way you huddleston was when you reeled it in I would say the fish sucked it in and the tail got in the way of the hook point when you swung on it.

Watching Greg catch em on a yak is so much more realistic, relatable, n entertaining than watching someone fish on an expensive bass boat n dropping their baits right on top of fishes basically fishing in a barrel.
Adding a bass boat seems inevitable, considering your commitment to getting to the best places for bass fishn
that's a tough argument when he just caught the same limit in his kayak as the other guy did lol
I would bet ok with the occasional bass boat video but I wouldnt want them to take over.
For sure we love the kayak,heck i fish only from a kayak.but i wonder if greg ever thinks about where he might reach out to that isnt feasible at 3mph.my fav vids are punchin& flippin on the delta
