I live in Somerset & have family near Liverpool & I find the people up north 100 times friendlier.... Obviously not an exact rule but it seems to be a trend.. Also to the guy talking about london/Birmingham, that isn't the North that's South east/Midlands... No one thinks London is particularly friendly.

Depends where you live mate grangetown is different to yarm lol. I live in ireland now but my dad lives in marske and it's one of the nicest places to live I think so it's all subjective. I'd take a pint down the navy before a game than being any other fan out there.

It used to be a horrible place when the Teesside Steelworks was operating at full blast and ICI Billingham was belching out god knows what into the atmosphere - they aren't called The Smoggies for nothing - but these days it is just a slightly run down Northern town with nothing particularly unpleasant to put you off going there.

Yarm is indeed a very fine place. Worked with a lot of Middlesbrough people in the shipyards back in the day. Invariably lovely, warm hearted people, with a great sense of humour.

We have Captain Cook's old house here in Melbourne Australia. It's the sort of place everyone's parents take them to when they are kids. We had a Piscasso too but somebody stole it, they ended up finding it in a locker at the train station.
