We did the Prep in the 80s. The Prep was a style of dress as well. Penny loafers, polo shirts, Oxford collar shirts with designer jeans like Jordache, etc.
Right. He was wrong in his description of the word @0:50. It was literally a group of kids in mid to late eighties school called preps. Just like there were thrashers (skaters), heads (heavy metal heads), new wave, jocks, b-boys. It was a crowd that dressed alike and hung out together.
I still do the old dances when I'm clowning around and I'm 50. My grandkids be like paw paw you can dance. I have them doing these old dances right along with me.
News flash pardner, the Prep was back in the 80s Alexander O'Neal and Cherrelle song "Saturday Love" and that was a great song to dance and do the Prep on even in the early 90s.
Yes, we were doing the “prep” in the early 80s overseas IN the Marines with women, AND from Japan, Philippines, Korea, and base women in the military. One thing I have learned after retiring, and watching my 32 year old daughter, that there are a lot of trends, fashions, dances, music, dress attire, slang, and overall behaviors, were done in the late 70s, early 80s, and the present that were done, annihilated, and brought back from old to new. You millennials where watching your parents, aunts, and uncles without a clue, and picked it up. Now you don’t know where it come from, and you claim it as yours. Get original kids, and creative, but do your research before you say, “look what we can do”... lol
That's why before he educate or dance history he needs to know when it started if he dont know he should stop til he learn the history of the dance moves.
I did the prep in the 80’s I don’t remember it being like this however, dances do evolve around the US/World and have different names. Honestly, I’m so old I don’t remember how the prep was done 😂😂😂 🙄😭😞 Feel free to add a link if you have a prep dance video. My knees are warmed up and ready for action!😅
Because he was giving wrong information on the dances and people called him out on it instead of him being embarrassed he shouldve just took some education on it.
