    Great job. Do you have any videos that show installing stationary awnings or other coverings onto vinyl siding? I'm trying to prevent water from pouring over the gutters onto the front door. I have no roof eave on my house; just the gutter and it gets clogged every single year, I try to clean them but I cannot always get to it and its dangerous.

    I'd love it if you would do a video on installing a fixed awning to shade a window. Even better would be how to build and install the awning. Thanks!

    On all the rv awnings I've seen, the arms don't extend all the way out. So they'll retract without binding and to give strength for breezy conditions (which amazingly is 25-30 mph). The awning on my camper (made by Colorado Awnings) has auxiliary angle braces that go from the outer end of the awning down to a latch on the side of the camper. I think it's good for Aunty Em strength winds.

      Yes, these are different than a standard RV awning for sure.

    Thank you for doing this video! I've got a manual crank awning I'm trying to install identical to how you have this. Honestly, I need the exact same bracket rig you have in this video. Did you make these yourself or purchase them from somewhere?

  • @mmmark61

    Well, I hadn’t considered this option for our deck. I was wondering how to get sun and rain protection when the deck is on the inside of an “L” section of the house. With leaves and snow, I just couldn’t figure out how to make either a permanent roof or mount a sail-type fabric in the corner location. A retractable awning wouldn’t make for a screened in porch (which I was also considering) but it does solve the sun and rain problem. Then during the winter the awning would be retracted for full sunlight into the living room. Thanks! (From a former SK resident)

    Thank you for a great and timely video! I found a manual version of this at Lowes, but the recommended min. height to install is above 8 ft. Our thick, heavy eaves hang low, so the max installation height into the siding would just be 6.5 feet above the deck floor. Do you think that would be unsafe? Or maybe we could install it onto the eaves (1-1/8" solid wood)?

    • @HouseImprovements
      @HouseImprovements  10 месяцев назад +1

      It will likely be around 6' when extended so that is your call. IMO in most cases it would be fine. Installed into the eaves like I did would work also but you will need to make a custom bracket if its like this awning.

      Some where missing , when I did the aluminum soffit years ago I must have removed some since they are not needed for aluminum soffit.

    Did you ever figure out why that arm didn't extend all the way?

    • @HouseImprovements
      @HouseImprovements  10 месяцев назад +1

      In the end they actually do not extend completely straight like I thought they would , likely to help give some strength. I tried adjusting the outward travel but the canopy material is not long enough to even extend it further than about another 1"
