Permanently deleting all of my social media accounts has been the best thing I’ve done! As a college student it was easy to have fomo, but living life in real time makes me glad that I’m “missing out” especially after seeing how much my life has improved now that I can’t endlessly scroll ✨ never going back
You are absolutely right and the sad part is that even the small minority of us that are aware of our time and attention being hijacked to the detriment of our lives STILL have trouble disconnecting from our phones. I didn't want to get a smartphone and delayed getting one for years because I knew EXACTLY what would happen. And sure enough, 12 years later, here I am, and the addiction is worse than ever. I tried taking some measures to change this this year, to modest success, but still nowhere near where I want to be.
That title sums up all! In addition, if this is like 50% of the reason, the other 50% is loneliness. When we're with other people, we are distracted. But once you're in bed, you're alone again. And sadly, in this society, people are more and more isolated. Just think about till our parents generation people married young, but now it's complicated even finding a decent person. Nothing compares to sleeping with your partner. That's QUALITY sleep, recharging, what we lack. But even when you do find someone, we've forgotten how we're supposed to behave - interacting, focusing on the person and to drop those habits we developed when we were alone. Because they unawarely became our "normality". Well, that's the first step they say. Even tho what I'm seeing is parents ignoring children and giving them a phone instead, I can't imagine how they'll grow up.
I totally agree with this and I have noticed that I was addicted to the numbness of being on my phone all the time. Exhaustion is a good way to put it that I haven't thought of. Tho I don't know how to stop I've watched several videos about it and I've been successful for maybe a day with no screens and just a few without my phone but I always go back and I've been wasting my time. Anyways enough of me ranting about my issue great video 👍
Have you read the book ‘The Shallows’ by Nicholas Carr? He says in that book that the internet as a whole could be effecting our nervous system. There could be some truth to that as we’re all anxious these days. It could be the internet and screens in general rather than social media. Scary stuff…
Glow children! A book a giy who did studies on smart devices, it atrophies the frontal lobe in the same way a drug addicts brain does. It also reduces gray matter. Interesting tvs arent as problemstic because they arent as immersive. I have yet to read the book but listened to a podcast where the author was interviewed.
Also check out the book The Power of Habit by Charles Duhigg. Very amazing and empowering book that whill chabge your life. Really happy I found your video. Keep up with the good content!
I read your R post from 2 years ago. Can you pm me your business email or something you feel comfortable letting me tell you my story, please I need help. All I'm asking of you is 20 mins of your time. With no promise of a response. Your whole channel is really speaking to me. I'm inching closer into an episode or am already in one. I can't fall again my family needs me and with this economy there is no way I can mess everything up again. I'll pay you if that is necessary. This is not a cry for help, mostly, you won't be disappointed I promise.

Social media is the new cigarette
there's a song called Information Overload by Holy Smokes, it's about social media addiction
