    I wouldn't recommend doing a rebuild of the database on the 5 mainly because ssd's don't really need to be "defragged" the same way hdd's need to. Most tech experts do not recommend doing that because it adds on to write limit of the ssd and you're just furthering the drive to its limit. Flash memory is designed to be really fast all the time and it can access the data much quicker than on a old hdd which will fragment the data as time progresses.

      exactly only do rebuild database if something on your ps5 isn't working for example the other day i had to do it bc i couldn't use anything online thought it was an internet problem but nope it was a ps5 problem and i had to do the rebuild database

    • @davidpower3102
      @davidpower3102 2 года назад +81

      It isn’t a defrag however, It’s a database rebuild. A defrag reorganises the files (and the parts they are made up of) on the disk to contiguous storage locations. The database rebuild only recreates an index file.
      It is very effective at restoring the OS to its original performance.

      what you're talking about has nothing to do with restoring database

    • @Alphagundam
      @Alphagundam 2 года назад +12

      @@davidpower3102 it's essentially the same process as you are still adding unnecessary writes to your drive. Since it has to rewrite the system files and it's really more ideal if you're having performance issues.

    • @Alphagundam
      @Alphagundam 2 года назад +15

      @@happygames9757 databases restoration still adds writes onto the ssd so in essence you should only be doing it when you are encountering performance lag or errors on the drive. And I wouldn't deem it necessary after a year if you haven't encountered any of that.

Simply fill a bathtub with the hottest water you can get from the tap, put in about a tablespoon of dish soap, and fully submerge the PS5 (and, optionally, controllers). Saw your cleaning video the other day and figured it would be a good idea as I'm playing on a release day console and have never cleaned it. After removing both sides and the fan, I was surprised by how clean it actually was. Not sure the conditions some people have their consoles in, but mine is basically floor level, sitting vertically, with 3 cats in the house. I could barely see any dust at all on the edge of the fan blades. The vents along the edge also did not have any dust that was visible (still cleaned it though). I hit up the "vacuum ports" with an empty canister and nothing was in it. I found that a bit odd, especially when my gaming computer (with dust screens) seems to need cleaning at least 2 times a year. Excellent video's though, I took all the advice in this video and took care of the other things you recommended as well. Controllers were starting to get a little dirty, especially in the cracks. This is an awesome video. Thank you for all the updates and help. I do have a PS5 controller question if you're able to help. My left joystick rubber covering has loosened from its glued state. Are there different covers and or different joysticks that I could replace this with? I didn't know this would happen and I've never seen any videos about this, but knowing that these joysticks are not the same as the PS4 solid plastic joysticks I guess it was bound to happen at some point. Thank you.

    I opened my faceplate one side because there's dust inside after I bought PS5 a month. After sliding the plate carefully as I watched your previous video, there's scratches and only three of them. One scratch is visible. And yeah, its my first time owning a PS5.

  • @coladict
    @coladict Год назад +1

    I opened both plates on mine after a full year of owning it and playing with it as regularly as I have the time, and it was standing vertical the entire time. No dust build-up anywhere. It's rather remarkable. Even the shelf itself has very little dust that's only been cleaned about 3 times in between. When I lived in a different city 10 years ago, a week of dust build-up on the furniture there was equal to more than two months of dust I get on the furniture here. That's all part of the local air quality.
