I ordered a set from jbugs.com and installed them today on my 66. They do look great and are a big improvement over my 55 year old stock boards. I weighed my options with the ones from Wolfsburg West and decided that these would be best for my do it yourself 20-year restoration.I had refurbished the original running boards with new rubber but the wide aluminum trim was dented and twisted in a couple of places resulting in loose and rattling trim. I have WW stainless trim on the rest of the car and these running boards look nice and bright so I am happy with this choice. They are very heavy and fit very nicely to the body so I m very pleased.Thank you, Chris, for presenting these as an alternate solution to the original running boards.
We like those running boards. The only issue is we've seen the black paint come off out of the channels on some of the earlier ones. Also, you have to polish the aluminum where your leg hits it getting out. After a while it gets tarnished.
Great video. Love the Tamiya R/C cars on your work bench. I have the blackfoot myself. Bought it new back in the 80s. I'm actually building a Clod Buster with a Monster Beetle top. It has 8 tires. 4 in the front and 4 in the back. Thanks again for all you do for our great VW.
No way that is awesome! I have just gotten back into the Hobby, and I feel like a kid all over again. I'm trying to figure out a way to get them into my business. Would love to see the cars you are working on. Very Cool.
@@VolkswagenplanetAhh that is awesome. I also have a Losi JRx2 buggy, it was the competitor to the RC-10. I picked up recently 1/8 scale monster trucks, the DHK maximus and the Redcat Landslide. These trucks are beasts! They can eat children. haha The tech has changed after my Tamiya days.
@@classicvwbugs I've been out of it for awhile myself. I looked at a magazine few months ago and had no idea what they were talking about. Next time I get back up to my brothers house( should be soon) I will send you some pics. Small world. Take care my friend
@@classicvwbugs im looking for my first car, and a beetle is the top, mabey something in the 1960s or before with a sunroof or ragtop being a welcome addon, max price 4000 to 5000
The reason why that aluminum feels like steel is because when it comes to metal, there are different varients of each metal, I don't know much about it, but if you Google it, you can prob find out more

You are very welcome my friend.
I was just looking at those the other day while shoping for running boards!! They look great!!
I did the black satin ones for my bug and these things are beefy! Absolutely worth every cent.Cip1 had a great price on them too!
Really appreciate the video. Been wondering about these for my 67, and think I will go ahead with them.

Thanks Chris, will the Billet aluminum running boards line up with my 71Super Beatle convertible ? Thanks
They should yeah
Thanks Chris !
did they fit ? I'm planning to do the same on my 1970 convertible
You are right about - its not if they start bubbling its when!

Does it come with the dents in it or did you do that?
Nice hat Sir Vallone!
CIP1 selling them March madness $104!! Getting a set to replace my rusty ones, assuming they fit a 69!
Good tip for saving money
I bought this. But the length is not exactly match with my beetle. It's little bit short.
Is there any news on how long it will be untill the find a bug commission will be open again?
Whatcha looking for? Maybe I can help. =o)

@@ShocksBocks well any ragtop in that price range you know will be a project right?
@@classicvwbugs yeah, as long as it's not gonna cost a fortune just for the ragtop then I'm up for it, otherwise I would be fine without it.

It's a shame they don't do a version with a thinner chrome strip to fit 67 on bugs.
Could still use this on a 67 with good results/looks.

Very cool.
How much $ for the '57 oval window ragtop?
It is a "Build-A-BuG" project for a client.
Ok Thanks
Stainless steel is not chromed, it's polished.
