I converted 4 of the N scale Bachmann Metroliners. All are powered, using Kato RDC chassis. I have working diaphragms between mine as well. I had to kit bash the pantographs for the coaches, but was able to find some good ones from an English manufacturer that are designed to run off a powered catenary system. I have three videos here on RUclips, explaining pretty much what I’ve done, but if you want to do something with your N scale ones, feel free to get in touch with me. Now I just need to build a section with catenary…
I have a full, running set of 4 in N scale. Can't run without issues. The belly boxes hang so low they bottom out on every switch. For N scale people have used RDC frames and trucks with the Metroliner shells. I did an Amtrak and converted my spares with issues to cab cars. The old Metroliner shells fit on the new Bachman Amfleet frames well. Trucks and underframe are not a match to Metroliners, but they run well on modern equipment and can be kitbashed to look accurate. Again all N. Enjoy.
Wow I had no idea there were such issues. I have few pieces of N scale equipment but I did find a couple of Metroliners in N at train shows. I've never done anything with them yet.

Great movie 👍 Well done my friend ! A captivating story about your work on these Metroliners now running and looking great on your layout.
Thank you brother, glad you enjoyed that short piece!

I’m thinking about buying a unit from eBay but are they dcc equipped?
The ones I have are the ancient Bachmanns. The Walthers units made a few years ago are DCC.
@@dbtrains172 oh alright, thank you.
