  • Vikylin asked me to review this PTZ4818X IRCSAW camera. I am impressed with the camera, but the software lets it down and you need to have a good understanding of networks and routers as well as set up procedures in order to get the best out of it. I hope you find the review useful!

Hi Russell, I could see the frustration :-) IP cams are great when they work! Any idea if this camera is supported by third party software like Blueiris or Milestone etc

Hi Peter, no idea regarding the software. I think it is about time that they ditched Internet Explorer and moved with the times. The tech guy sent me a client software program, LMS, but it was virtually useless. On a system runnung in 4K you cannot read the menus or anything that is on the screen. I had the same issue a few years ago on an IP camera and had to run my monitor on 1080p. They are relying on very old software. There is no excuse for the IE issue. :-)

What is the name of the app you use

I don't buy anything that relies on an app or cloud service now. If it doesn't work with Home Assistant then I don't buy it. Reolink cameras are good in that respect, not tied to the cloud or stupid apps.

Agreed, Reolink are very easy to set up and use. :-)
