To the non-maths genius who thinks there's 2 notes in the solo-I'm a guitarist and can count a bit also-theres lots of notes in there, all containing more soul than any others played by anyone ever, and a couple of over-dubs to add to the cosmicity.Bolan can never be equalled, ever!I have spoken!
I agree wholeheartedly with you, Mick! Bolan's STILL a hugely underrated guitarist to this day. Just cos, y'know, his style was so simple. But the little grrlz understand that simplicity = brilliance! In fact, while I like Led Zep, I'll take 2 Bolans over ANY 5 Jimmy Pages you care to mention ANY day of the week (!). Cheerz, Loz! :-)
Any guitarist or musician will tell you it's not how many notes you can play in the fastest time. It's how you play the notes and the soul you put into it (e.g., George Harrison on his song, 'Something.' Same for chords. AC/DC usually only played basic major chords but they played the hell out of them and played them very well. They were once asked about when/if they'd start playing songs with more complicated chord and structures. Their reply: Yes, as soon as our millions of fans start hating our current approach. It was properly snarky. The fans grew and grew, so there you go.
Why isn’t Marc Bolan known for his wonderful poetry? He was a fabulous musician, but he was also a very talented poet and he doesn’t seem to get any credit for that. I’ve never understood it. He was brilliant all around.
lauriejanes6511 Marc wrote a book of poetry called Warlock of Love. It's very hard to find..I've seen a few copies for sale but they're really expensive
That's a good question ! I would think that Marc is very highly regarded as a poet by many people ! I think since your original comment T Rex have been inducted into the Rock and Roll hall of fame ! And fashion often goes in loops , Marc's time will come again !
the saying that time will heal the pain...it doesn't for me. i still get the lump in the throat, tear in eye whenever i watch a Bolan video, more than 30 years after his tragic passing....my King of Glam Rock forever! Fantastic images, DLify, many thanks for sharing them! Janis, Singapore
Been a lifelong T.Rex fan since Ride A White Swan. There is so much more to Marc Bolan than the huge hit singles. I’m so glad that through RUclips younger music fans are discovering T.Rex.
Damn Right . This is sublimity, and as the world now fatally wastes itself in hyper-moralism and vicious hysteria, Marc outlives the fakes, the kooks, and the creeps. This is music that fucks with love.
THIS IS BRILLIANT HE IS A TRUE STAR SELF MADE I MISS HIM SO MUCH IT HURTS I WONDER WHAT HE WOULD BE DOING NOW AND I WOULD BE STILL BUYING HIS MUSIC, A MUSICAL GENIUS!
I never paid to much attention to this band. But when I came across them on you tube my heart sank. What an absolute HUNK omg. Then I read he had died in 1977 at such a young age. I saw all the videos on this group. He is so sweet and sexy. My heart sank to know he is no longer here.
E wonder why he said he never did much with this song-I love it-my favorite-you can almost feel his heartbeat (or maybe that's mine) An absolutley beautiful voice and excellant guitar playing
Ditto! Though, at 52, I JUST missed out on the T.Rexstacy, discovering 'The Slider' in the record collection of a high schoolfriend's older sibling, thinking "Ullo, wot's THIS then?" (yes, New Zealand radio played BUGGER ALL T.Rex in the mid-to-late '70s, the period that I first started to be interested in music). I was a BIG fan of Bowie in 1977, but had NO idea who, or what T.Rex were. Strange, but nonetheless TRUE. Anyway, I was HOOKED from the first listen, and that album STILL sounz like it was beamed in from another planet, I reckon. Cheers! :-)
Wow what fantastic lyrics! The music is as usual from T.rex a trip to euphoria! What great memories going to the record store Chester to buy The Slider! A truly classic album but not as good as possibly the greatest album of alltime ELECTRIC WARRIOR!
Wow! FANTASTIC video you've made for this classic track (which still gives me the shivers, even after, um...39 years (crikey!). Well done, DreamyLadify - BLESS YOU! :-D
Sixteen dislikes I hope they are locked up in the mad house just to be safe they obviously dislike music of any kind this is fabulous his music will live on forever rock it Marc
@LoneRiderProduction Thank you dear Glenn so much for very kind words and stars. You're sooo kind :) ) Enjoy your evening! Big hugs and Smiles:) ) maria xx
+Eric P. Alvaro- Whatever it takes to get people to take notice of some of the original artists in whom beauty, genius and a touch of madness existed hand in hand. Bolan was, and continues to be, an incredible inspiration.
Two simultaneous solos overdubbed to perfection! FOH! How many songs have you written (and/or have charted/sold over 100,000 copies) that people STILL play and dearly love 40+ years after you've died? Ever? I'll wait....
Was listening to T-Rex yesterday on the bus going to St Andrews...really was a talented guy and the lyrics are something else...wonder if AI is going to be giving us more Marc Bolan in the future or are some artists best left untouched by technology?.
When I say his talent never matured, it wasn't a criticism I was trying to say he died during the "punk era" where his music was in the doldrums, had he lived longer no doubt he would have had been a big factor in later music trends. he would have loved the post punk music scene and would no doubt been a leading figure in music weather it was performing writing or producing.

Jimmy who?Ha!Ha!Jim I Hendrix could play a bit though.I am a hugely underrated guitarist. They think I'm crap whereas I know I'm very nearly adequate!

So correct! I’d rather listen to five minutes of Marc Bolan’s guitar playing than a lifetime of anyone else’s. Seriously.
Peace out ✌️✊

I love the dissonance of the fourth chord of the verse progression. Works so well, it makes the song for me.
Yeahhh! I loveeee it too
