The base for the concept was DAMIEN...a book by Herman Hesse. So the lines RapMonster is reading in the beginning of every short film are from the book. You have to pay attention to the short film titles. This one is called LIE. A lie is something in-between reality and fiction. Think about the picture of the forest (fiction) and Jimin sitting there (reality). There is a short moment when they show him in the picture. The scenes in the hospital bed and the cocktail glass full of pills are referenced to the I NEED U and RUN MVs. When Jimin is throwing the pillow he is thinking of Jhope (there are two hospital beds) who isn't there anymore. These scenes are also flash backs. When he is sitting in front of that camera he is in the present and after seeing him turning the camera to the picture of the forest and him staring at it, we can see on which side he is walking now...lie. So these films are dealing with youth and the struggles of growing up...it is up to us to interpret which kind of lie he is caught in.
Vanessa Squintu I thought the lie was that Jimin thought that J-Hope is with him when he's not which is a lie he's believing hence him throwing the pillow towards the other bed believing that he is hitting J-Hope and he also smiled because he was happy because he fabricated himself into thinking that his friend was there but in reality he's not, so you could say that he has gone a bit crazy that's why it started of showing him, a hand, and ink blots so he was going through psychological evaluation.
I love the fact that you analyze everything you see in the short films and try to connect it. Yes, the beginnings are part of the book. I recommend you to watch the short films with eng subs, there are people who reupload it with subs. So then you can understand the lyrics and the texts between the video 😊 great video
1. I absolutely love your reactions and the whole brainstorming you got going on there every time, it's a pleasure to see some grey matter put to use on a RUclips channel (rara avis nowadays, but then again you are reacting to WINGS album lol) 2. you actually guessed correctly, the intro monologues are excerpts from "Demian: The Story of Emil Sinclair's Youth" by Hesse
Well, hello there friends, I come bearing translations to maybe help you understand the story a little bit more. First of all, the one in the video is Jimin, one of the vocals. He's the one singing the song you hear in the video. And speaking of the song, the lyrics are: "Caught in a lie / Find the me who was innocent / I can't free myself from this lie / Please give me back my smile / Caught in a lie / Take me out of this hell / I can't free myself from this pain / Please save the me who's being punished." As for the quotes: the first quote is "Please guide me, please stop me, please let me breathe", which is from their song RUN. The second quote is "I'm trapped inside of myself and I'm dead", which is from their song Save Me. I'm sure you can see the theme there, so maybe some of the scenes make some more sense now. And if you made this far into this informative and unnecessarily long RUclips comment, here's a pro-tip: all of the details matter in these short films. Pay a lot of attention to the small, seemingly meaningless details. And have fun connecting all seven of them together. There is no official explanation to the series, so you can come up with your own and it will be correct. Nothing is true. Everything is permitted. ...I'll see myself out now. Have a nice day. :)
each short film has samples of that member's solo song on their latest album (first time they've had everyone do a solo song) and each short film shares the title of that song. That's how they were titled
i got chills when you were talking about him looking a bit crazy at the end, brr :D i LOVE these reactions! after listening to and reading a lot of different interpretations, your thoughts are like the breath of fresh air. keep it up!
I'm excited for their reaction at MAMA short film since the pills represents J-Hope :D Jimin (LIE) and Jhope were in a hospital in the RUN mv. Jhope took the pills the I NEED U mv to overdose himself.. That's why Jimin was having a pillow fight with somebody at this film (Jimin and Jhope also had a pillow fight in their RUN MV which was released at nov 30, 2015, the short films were released sept. 2016) (While I need U was released in May 2015) xD Everything is connected xD
their observations are so unique and insightful. i love it because they don't have that perspective of already knowing the literature that it was inspired by. so cool
Brazilian Reacts Yeah I was gonna say that in the last video its gonna take forever and theyre not that long they'll miss some of the more subtle symbolism if they see some of them a month a part like this
Each short film is named after each member's solo song featured in their album "Wings". For example in this short film named Lie, Jimin is the one featured for the song because the song was written by him. Plus you might want to know that within this trilogy each of the members but one (Jin) have a sortof parabatai and will connect within the short film more. Plus many concepts and symbols are foreshadowed to future music videos like "Blood, Sweat, and Tears".
From every reactions that I've watched you guys one of the best, you really pay attention and sincerely enjoy and then blown away like all of us. Love ya guys, hopefully to see more in the future 😍
Eventho this clip was released ages ago and I just found ur reaction channel but I really love how you notice the small things. I mean the wings logo, how it change after each member. Many reactors didn't notice that actually. Love ur channel btw.
You guys seriously need to find the versions with subtitles, because you are losing a lot in translation and in wrong enunciation. What you clearly thought was said as "rythm", was actually "realm". Beside that, I love these reactions, the discussions afterwards are so interesting.
I love your interpretations about it. If it just wasn't about the theme of their album which is about Youth struggling to the next phase which is maturity, I would think the same. I would also think about their lives as a famous boy group. But then it wasn't like that. And yes, Rap Monster was speaking in the beginning and those were excerpts from the book Demian.
The glasses full of pills as well as the pillow fight, empty bed and falling feathers are related to another member named jhope. Him and jimin are seen in a sort of hospital like room together and having pillow fights in the videos for run and i need you (where jimin also drowns in that same bathtub). Guys the storyline/concept goes wayy back and there are connections throughout almost all of their music videos you have barely scratched the surface XD
I recommend watching the 3rd short film with subtitles! If you can, it will also make more sense if you watch I Need U 19+ ver. MV first. There are a lot of story and visual references in these short films to BTS's HYYH trilogy (the main trilogy is I Need U 19+ ver. MV -> On Stage Prologue -> Run MV and then after that there's also I Need U Japanese ver. MV -> Run Japanese ver. MV -> Epilogue: Young Forever MV). All of the short films follow after all of that, plus have extra textual references to the book Demian, so there is a lot of material to consider.
i love your discussions! even though some of these films relate to other music videos and prologue film before, hearing you guys discussing about this film only by itself felt very freshing and new. also i'm really glad that you receive messages from this film seriously :))) hope i get to see next reaction soon! XD
You guys absolutely MUST watch Short Film #3 (Stigma) with English subtitles! It makes so much more sense, even if it's still a bit vague. The subtitles help a LOT
I really love your voices. very soothing~ hahaha Btw, these short films are somehow connected and came after BTS' HYYH series. I Need U, Run, Prologue, and Young Forever. These short films are transition to Blood, Sweat and Tears
I love your reactions and how deeply you guys think but like someone else said in the comments I don't think you'll really understand this story without watching the music videos that came before these short film. These characters already have established storylines and problems and it is much easier to follow when you've already seen them before. The music videos are I Need U, Prologue, Run, and Young Forever. I really don't even care if you react to these on camera or not but things make a lot more sense if you 1) can differentiate between members so you know what is happening to who and 2) can see the progression of how the characters ended up here. Just a suggestion though lol I'll definitely watch your analysis of these films either way because you put so much effort into trying to figure it out.
At last!!! : D I had been waiting for his reaction from LIE for a few days (my videos reaction) Please see the rest of the shorts, it is a recommendation if you want to better understand the first two you have seen; Each of them are interlaced and these same are connected with the triology presented in their previous albums, conformed by: I NEED U + PROLOGUE + RUN; Complemented by EPILOGO: YOUNG FOREVER (there are even scenes taken from previous albums, proving that there is a whole narrative in since his first works). If you are interested in understanding the meaning of the images or scenes presented in the seven shorts of Wings, see the triology mentioned is the most appropriate. Regarding what they mentioned about the story of the beginning, they are certainly extracts obtained from the book Damina and narrated by Rap Monster (member and leader of BTS).
OMG! I love your reaction video. You guys are the BEST reactors I've ever seen before. Please do more reactions to BTS!! You will love them. Love to hear your thoughts and theories ;) You guys are so smart!! Looking forward to watch your next BTS reaction. Oh!! And you will definitely need sub for the 3rd short film. He's saying lots of Korean. And I bet you will love it again!!
The short films are both teasers for their album and for their solo songs within the album, so the titles of the films and songs in them correlate to their solo songs.
I'll wait more for your BTS reaction videooo.. We need more people like you guys, you are so fun, you chat about the video, I really enjoy your video! Please keep reacting to BTS video 😘😉
I think the 'Lie' is being someone different from who you are when people are looking... not being able to be true to yourself in front of society and in this case being true to your depression
1. Begin - Jungkook 2. Lie - Jimin 3. Stigma - V 4. First love - Suga 5. Reflection - Rap Monster 6. MAMA - J-Hope 7. Awake - Jin // Also it's not just short films, after the short films, solo songs were released. Each one with the same name of course. *Lie's* choreography is also stunning.
BTW, these short films utilize a lot of visual motifs and concepts from a previous storyline created in their past music videos, so please consider watching those when you're done with these 😃 I recommend watching "I Need U", "Prologue", "Run", and "Young Forever" in that order. These music videos are all connected, for the albums they are associated with were released as an album trilogy called "The Most Beautiful Moment in Life". I really look forward to hearing your opinions if you guys have the time to check all this stuff out 😊
English subs are pretty much mandatory for part 3, Stigma. I highly recommend searching for a video that has them. I love hearing your guys' analysis on what you guys get from these, and Stigma has A LOT of dialogue in comparison to the rest.
In chronological order, these shorts and the members are: 1. Begin - Jungkook 2. Lie - Jimin 3. Stigma - V 4. First Love - Suga 5. Reflection - Rap Monster 6. Mama - J-Hope 7. Awake - Jin You are correct about the intros at the beginning, read by RapMon, are excerpts from Damien by Hesse, the significance of which is anyone's guess. I feel like you should have watched their MV "I Need U" (Original Version) before you started watching these short films. Certain elements are carried over that you'd miss (like the significance of the bathtub).
The beginning monologues are indeed excerpts from the book Demian. Also, for the next short film (Stigma) I strongly recommend watching the English subbed version provided by Yoongified.
I thought about writing a comment or let you just run around in the darkness. Decided it's more fun to watch you guys trying to make sense out of it **evil laugh** *I give you a little bit of help* Remember the painting in Begin? Sinclair in the book draws a painting (when he is at a really low point in his life), which meant to be a girl he has a crush on, but it turns out to not be looking like her at all. It looks more like Demian and it turns out most like Demians mother Eva, which Sinclair meets way later in his life. One of the cards in Lie - btw. these resemble the Rorschach test - says Eva. - But I think that's enough hints, better go and read some Hesse :D *Oh and if you really want to be creeped out* (that's just an example, works with all the others too) When you watch the shortfilm titled "Mama": Stop at 1:02min and go to 1:02min in Lie (Jimin and JHope were connected in the HYYH era) PS: Yes these are quotes from the book at the beginning, but they don't follow the narrative of the story, but fit the respective shortfilm, which either means they used the quotes fitting to the storyline of the films or the shortfilms aren't in the correct order.
Jimin wrote the song. He is expressing how he used to think that he wasn’t perfect and had huge security problems, even eating disorder. He is saying that he’s trapped in the lie, which is that he has to improve himself, that he’s doing wrong.
Also, all of these Wing Short Films tie into their trilogy released prior to these. I think it would be worth your while to check those MVs out too. I Need U (19+ version) Run Young Forever
Jimin represents one of the phase of Emil Sinclair from the book Demain. He shows the hesitation that one faces when someone has conflicting thoughts against their old ideals. Hence he tells those thoughts are lies that have caught him...
You guys shouldn't feel pressured to figure this out 99.9% of fans don't know the entire meaning of this whole thing. But we're making progress Only BTS and BigHit knows this ish
please watch their mvs since the beginning. if you cant watch it from the VERY beginning, you can start from the prologue of "THE MOST BEAUTIFUL MOMENTS IN LIFE" then their mv afterwards. If its still too hard, you can watch "JusttAlly" theories, ITS SUPER ACCURATE. I appreciate your opinions and thoughts, but you'll be MIND BLOWN after you understand everything so accurately :)
React to BTS- Spring Day (Since this is a different story sooo :D or after the short films), The MV is a tribute for the Sewol Ferry Tragedy where young people/teens died in Korea :( That is why there is a hanging of a shoe on a tree which represents death :( The Song FOR ME is about longing for a friend who died or went away from his/her friend because of school, family, etc. They also Referenced a book which is a short story. "The Ones Who Walk From OMELAS" (BTS made me read this book and it is so goddamn nice :'( I got goosebumps while reading it The story of the book is this: Omelas is a utopian society situated near a beautiful, shimmering sea. When the story opens, the people of Omelas are celebrating the Summer Festival, an annual event featuring games and horse riding. Underneath this happy, picturesque city, a child has been locked in a cage and forced to live in its own filth. The child's suffering is meant to teach the people of Omelas how cruel justice can be and how precious happiness can be. Sooner or later, every citizen of Omelas learns of the caged child's existence and is taught about the meaning of suffering. Horrified, some people walk away from Omelas, never to return.
I think you guys should do it not weekly but daily or yet do it by 2s. You'll get it easier if ur mind is still fresh from the other video. Every video is connected so you should look at every scene. Btw, you can search the video by adding 'eng sub' so there would be captions.
You guys should (must) search for the english subs for the next short stories, because it helps quite a lot, in my opinion ! It adds so much to the story ;)) Just search for the short stories with ´eng sub´
You guys really need to watch their past music videos to understand more. Especially with #3 Stigma at least watch I need U before watching this one. Order to watch MV- I Need U (original version/+19version ) PROLOGUE Run I Need U(Japanese version) Run(Japanese version) and Young Forever.
you should watch BTS HYYH serie: - I need u - 화양연화 on stage : prologue - Run - Epilogue: Young forever they're all connected each other and they're also connected to these short films :'D
I feel like you guys will never get the full story because u guys have not watched i need u, prologue and run. The story is already confusing enough but i think u guys would really put things together if u watch the full story.
I love you guys, please keep doing what your doing! Also could be way off but the picture of the forest kind of makes me think of Aokigahara which is a forest in Japan where people go to kill themselves and it makes me wonder if their videos are talking about pressure put on youth and how it pushes them to do things like that. I know they've talked about similar things like in NO and how their concept is youth and how they talk about mental health a lot. Ive never watched an analysis video other than you guys but the picture always throws me off and this is just a poorly supported theory of mine.
Wonderful reaction guys but as everyone else is saying you should probably search for the short films with English subs. There are fans that have translated certain things and even put in some annotations giving were the quotes that show on the screen are from. Also I'm not sure if you've been planning to but since you are doing the short films it would make sense if you reacted to their trilogy which came before this. I Need U (original version 19+) Prologue (which is a 20 minute short film) Run And then you may watch Epilogue: Young Forever. These four videos would help tremendously in your understanding of each character. It would also be nice if you could learn to differentiate between the members before you watch these so that you can follow along easily with the characters' stories. Thank you for these reactions and the time you put into them. p.s the Japanese versions of I need you and run also parallel the short films a lot so if you could watch them as well they would help even more.
The Lie video is based on Park Ji Min's health. He was liyng to everyone that he had eating disorder. He wanted to be perfect to make the fans happy. He practiced everyday and forgot to eat so he came thinner. That is the apple and the pills represent his health
It would be better if you film your reactions to the short films all in one go, so you won't forget the other details in each short film that are included in the others... then you can just upload them weekly haha :)
please make sure that you have subtitles for the next one, number three, stigma, because otherwise, you won't understand half of the short film. If you have subtitles for the next one, it'll make much more sense.
The base for the concept was DAMIEN...a book by Herman Hesse. So the lines RapMonster is reading in the beginning of every short film are from the book.
You have to pay attention to the short film titles. This one is called LIE. A lie is something in-between reality and fiction. So these films are dealing with youth and the struggles of growing up...it is up to us to interpret which kind of lie he is caught in.
Not DAmien but DEMien...
Tinabean not demIEN but demIAN ;)
LMAO 😂 ⬆️

Natalie Mkrchyan that is what I kind of said 😂...not in so much detail though. I just pointed out the symbols for reality and fiction.
I want to point out that Jimin smiles only when the camera is filming him! The symbolism!!!
"This one was stunning"
me: "Jimin is stunning"
I love the fact that you analyze everything you see in the short films and try to connect it.
Yes, the beginnings are part of the book.
I recommend you to watch the short films with eng subs, there are people who reupload it with subs. So then you can understand the lyrics and the texts between the video 😊 great video

endlesszero112 Wow... this is great!!!
Have you heard of the new WEBTOON series “SAVE ME”?
YOU HAVE TO WATCH IT WITH SUBS!!! Just type in the video's name with "eng sub". It will help you understand IMMENSELY.
YES YES IT HELPS!
Third this!
^^^
Danielle Brown what's the name of the girl with short hair? is it Alejandra?
blah bla hu Yeah, it is.
I absolutely love your reactions and how you try to dissect these short films :D
each short film has samples of that member's solo song on their latest album (first time they've had everyone do a solo song) and each short film shares the title of that song. That's how they were titled
i got chills when you were talking about him looking a bit crazy at the end, brr :D
i LOVE these reactions! after listening to and reading a lot of different interpretations, your thoughts are like the breath of fresh air. keep it up!
You totally got it!!!! He wrote this song because he felt like he was missing things and he was sad because he thought he wasn't perfect
I'm excited for their reaction at MAMA short film since the pills represents J-Hope :D Jimin (LIE) and Jhope were in a hospital in the RUN mv. BTW the next short film is connected in their I Need U mv :D (V killed his abusive father there)
their observations are so unique and insightful. i love it because they don't have that perspective of already knowing the literature that it was inspired by. so cool
I think you guys should do 2 films per video, otherwise it will take a time until you guys finish reacting to all the films
It'll probably be easier to understand the flow of the narration too.
Brazilian Reacts that's true
Brazilian Reacts Yeah I was gonna say that in the last video its gonna take forever and theyre not that long they'll miss some of the more subtle symbolism if they see some of them a month a part like this
they should also look at the lyrics of the whole songs
THEY LISTENED TO THIS COMMENT CAN WE APPRECIATE THAT
lol....Everybody is shocked by My baby Jimin! My Chimchim super cute and handsome!😍😍😍
‘God these talented people’ is right.
You guys are such good reactors. I really enjoyed watching you analyze and discuss your theories.
The title of each films ( Begin, Lie, Stigma, First Love, Reflection, MAMA, Awake ) are the titles of the members solo songs.

Add "Danger" before "I Need U" since Stigma flashes all the way back to that.

I feel like you should have watched their MV "I Need U" (Original Version) before you started watching these short films. Certain elements are carried over that you'd miss (like the significance of the bathtub).
The beginning monologues are indeed excerpts from the book Demian. Also, for the next short film (Stigma) I strongly recommend watching the English subbed version provided by Yoongified.
i really like your reaction and theories.
i love your reactions
guys, search the ones with subtitles !! 😋
I thought about writing a comment or let you just run around in the darkness. Decided it's more fun to watch you guys trying to make sense out of it **evil laugh**
*I give you a little bit of help*
Remember the painting in Begin? Sinclair in the book draws a painting (when he is at a really low point in his life), which meant to be a girl he has a crush on, but it turns out to not be looking like her at all. It looks more like Demian and it turns out most like Demians mother Eva, which Sinclair meets way later in his life. One of the cards in Lie - btw. these resemble the Rorschach test - says Eva. - But I think that's enough hints, better go and read some Hesse :D
*Oh and if you really want to be creeped out* (that's just an example, works with all the others too)
When you watch the shortfilm titled "Mama": Stop at 1:02min and go to 1:02min in Lie (Jimin and JHope were connected in the HYYH era)
PS: Yes these are quotes from the book at the beginning, but they don't follow the narrative of the story, but fit the respective shortfilm, which either means they used the quotes fitting to the storyline of the films or the shortfilms aren't in the correct order.
Jimin wrote the song. He is expressing how he used to think that he wasn’t perfect and had huge security problems, even eating disorder. He is saying that he’s trapped in the lie, which is that he has to improve himself, that he’s doing wrong.
Yes they're excerpts from Damien
React to wings #3 stigma its sooo good and i love you guys ❤️❤️
AHH I CANT WAIT UNTIL YOU REACT TO THE THIRD ONE
You guys should turn on the captions (especially for the next few ones). There are plenty of eng subbed videos for the wings series.
GervJean we do for the next one ;)
Hey guys! love your reactions - please react to Little Mix Power music video
Yeah! please guys
Sonia Wallis yes yes please
Also, all of these Wing Short Films tie into their trilogy released prior to these. I think it would be worth your while to check those MVs out too.
I Need U (19+ version)
Run
Young Forever
Jimin represents one of the phase of Emil Sinclair from the book Demain. He shows the hesitation that one faces when someone has conflicting thoughts against their old ideals. Hence he tells those thoughts are lies that have caught him...
Ahhhhh I wish I had friends in real life that I could over analyze these films with!
you are very intelligent.. you are almost right
You guys shouldn't feel pressured to figure this out
99.9% of fans don't know the entire meaning of this whole thing. But we're making progress
Only BTS and BigHit knows this ish
please watch their mvs since the beginning. if you cant watch it from the VERY beginning, you can start from the prologue of "THE MOST BEAUTIFUL MOMENTS IN LIFE" then their mv afterwards. If its still too hard, you can watch "JusttAlly" theories, ITS SUPER ACCURATE. I appreciate your opinions and thoughts, but you'll be MIND BLOWN after you understand everything so accurately :)
The storyline started from "The most beautiful moments in life " era or before 😆
JIMIN😍😍😍
Eng subs! Your reactions are amazing but I promise they help give further insight
"The Ones Who Walk From OMELAS" (BTS made me read this book and it is so goddamn nice :'( I got goosebumps while reading it
The story of the book is this:
Omelas is a utopian society situated near a beautiful, shimmering sea.
Thank you so much~
I think you guys should do it not weekly but daily or yet do it by 2s. You'll get it easier if ur mind is still fresh from the other video. Every video is connected so you should look at every scene. Btw, you can search the video by adding 'eng sub' so there would be captions.
I think you guys should see the short film with the song it corresponds to you'll get a better understanding WITH SUBTITLES
should do the 3rd one and all of them
finallyyyyyy
Ahhhh Do a Marathon!!! :DDDD
Order to watch MV-
I Need U (original version/+19version )
PROLOGUE
Run
I Need U(Japanese version)
Run(Japanese version)
and Young Forever.
will you react to another BTS's Music Video SPRING DAY?. this MV has many theories too
React #3 Teaser plz
you should watch BTS HYYH serie:
- I need u
- 화양연화 on stage : prologue
- Run
- Epilogue: Young forever
they're all connected each other and they're also connected to these short films :'D
I feel like you guys will never get the full story because u guys have not watched i need u, prologue and run. The story is already confusing enough but i think u guys would really put things together if u watch the full story.
there's an eng sub video if you wanted to know the hangul means
This story and army only know it!
I Need U (original version 19+)
Prologue (which is a 20 minute short film)
Run
And then you may watch Epilogue: Young Forever.
These four videos would help tremendously in your understanding of each character. It would also be nice if you could learn to differentiate between the members before you watch these so that you can follow along easily with the characters' stories.
Thank you for these reactions and the time you put into them.
p.s the Japanese versions of I need you and run also parallel the short films a lot so if you could watch them as well they would help even more.
watch all the BTS Mvs, esp the 'I need u' orignal ver., BTS Onstage prologue, and RUN, Young forever :)
pleaseee React 2 video at the time..cos will take long time they will be another 5 more short films
Did they watch I Need U/Prologue/RUN already?
"Show me the way, someone please stop me, someone just let me breathe."
"I'm almost dying while I locked by myself"
The Lie video is based on Park Ji Min's health. He was liyng to everyone that he had eating disorder. He wanted to be perfect to make the fans happy. He practiced everyday and forgot to eat so he came thinner. That is the apple and the pills represent his health
It would be better if you film your reactions to the short films all in one go, so you won't forget the other details in each short film that are included in the others... then you can just upload them weekly haha :)
PLEASE WATCH THE SHORT FILMS WITH ENGLISH SUBS, ESPECIALLY SHORT FILM #3
Does anyone know the sequence of these videos ?? Like which videos to watch before the short films ? And so on..
You guys should really look for the ones that has english subs. Especially on the next short film which is Wings #3 STIGMA :)
please make sure that you have subtitles for the next one, number three, stigma, because otherwise, you won't understand half of the short film. If you have subtitles for the next one, it'll make much more sense.
I'm early
Chris Chimchim Me too
You should watch WINGS with English subtitles
Love this channel, but could you do a Little Mix reaction again.... The new Power Music Video came out and its sooo good please react to it
you should probably do this with eng subs lol... each of this are kinda like a trailer for each of their individual song in the album "Wings"...
