Considering that they made Max play 15 levels under on an S rank boss and he almost cleared it with only playing like 6 hours worth in his private session is nuts. And the crazy thing is, neither him or the dev used the shotlock style mechanic they added from Kingdom Hearts into the game that lets you do massive ranged damage during moments of distance. This game is gonna be fucking bonkers.
I mean... I beat horseman in Elden Ring right out of the gate in 2 hours so...

I get the feeling that Square Enix is going to be taking over more and more coming years. The new passionate CEO, Yoshi-P, Masayoshi Soken and all the rest. Extremely passionate individuals who just want to be part of great games.
@@Jura740 pretty sure the core message wasn’t about market values but instead recognition of a big shift in the companies direction built ontop of the talent they have accumulated.
For me it went downhill after Sakaguchi left, but I then I seem to like the FF's everyone hates and hate the ones everyone loves lol. Loved Ff13, hated 7 remake. Here's hoping to a resurgence though. 😊

I aspire to want to BE sakaguchi but like, bro was going crazy back in 2000 with the franchise, with a movie and an anime that weren't too successful.
There was some weird hoopla with SE's Canadian studios, but let's not forget how Tomb Raider was a PC Benchmarking game for years. Or how successful a lot of their mobile games, and different franchises were, comparatively.
Square-Enix is more than just final fantasy.
(Don't forget they also made a killing off of a couple manga franchises, like Black Butler and FMA)
Also, Kingdom Hearts happened AFTER sakaguchi, so, I don't know how that could possibly be a statement.
Like, if anything, and I'm being honest as someone who's looked up to Sakaguchi for having been an inspiration for me to being a software engineer through game development, Mistwalker, if anything, would needed Square Enix more than Square-Enix needing key members of Mistwalker through the 2000's, 10's and 20's.
I know, its hard to say, Uematsu's work was what got me into playing piano back in 2006.
Just, Mistwalker never had a big hit until they made a mobile title with Terra Battle. And I know, it sucks saying that, but you couldn't find a copy of Last Story, even if you wanted to, (operation rainfall wasn't that successful outside of Xenoblade Chronicles)

I’m fine with ppl not vibing with the game but when they spout nonsense like “THIS ISNT FINAL FANTASY” I’m embarassed to be old and relish in new players never playing FF but curious to maybe pick this one up
@@ThwipThwipBoom With AC I just sad that they gutted real world part of narrative after ac3 (technically black flag, but it was a spin off already). It's one of the most interesting storylines in game history, I would love if they would expand it further.
FF boomers like me will take anything that has a good and complete story after what we've had to endure for the past 14 years. Those complaining are more casual fans that played through the PS1 era games once and are just now returning to the series.
Devs who play their own games is a pre-order for me.
I love how FF devs are cracked at their own games. Yoshi P parses 99s on FFXIV and Ryota Suzuki can probably parry ballistic missiles if he wanted to

The first video game I ever played was Final Fantasy 1 on the NES in 1988. Here we are 35 years later about to experience this masterpiece
Wasn't my first game (that honor goes to Ninja Gaiden) but I definitely grabbed FF as soon as I was able to find it in stock. First RPG for me and had no idea what it was about but the Nintendo Power preview intrigued me.

Absolutely prepared for this game.
Final Fantasy really has made memories for me that lasted a life time. It is crazy to think about the impact that 6-10 had on me as a kid. I loved and cherished those stories and characters. I didnt have many friends as a kid but I had my JRPGs lol

@@bahamutr4270 Serious talk, I havent looked at a game journalist since I stopped buying magazines and IGN became as relevant as a stamp. I look at Dunkey and streamers that I watch for their take, though I rarely buy games anymore anyway.
It has so much of the heart and soul of dmc in it you can definitely tell this battle system is gonna have a great deal of depth. Dmc has such a high ceiling and i imagine this is gonna ve just like that
I think itll be better. Ryota was saying it was his best work yet.

@@ItsSauIGoodman More than Suzuki-san himself, they also brought in Platinum Games designers who worked on NiER: Automata (!!), and even some of the KH battle team combat!
SE is really pulling all of the stops here. Literally the Avengers of SE action game designers are assembled for FF16.
@@DawnAfternoon yeah! I wish platinum finished working on Granblu Fantasy Relink but they left. Now that i think about it they probably left that project for this one.
@@angellara7040 You're correct for the most part, but I got a feeling FF16 will be where SE's action side elevates itself to be next to Capcom.
They actually brought the best minds behind Suzuki's works, Platinum Games, and even some of the KH combat directors. Three completely separate action game studios are all in on this and they've been cooking for 8 years. This game is going to be nuts.
So I told myself a bit back I wouldn't buy ultimate editions anymore, but this was an exception purely because I believe they deserve the extra cash.

First PS I ever bought was the PS1 when it launched just to play FF. Every PS since I’ve bought first to play the latest FF release. Bought a PS5 just to play FF16. I’m stoked!

Combat system honestly looks like the perfect combination of DMC-style fighting game and Action RPG with lots of choice on how to tackle each boss. If the story is on the same level then we have a serious contender for Game of the Year.

The combat in this game looks TOP TIER man. So many ways to play

Inspires a lot of confidence with creative business suite seeing the dev be able to play their own game so well.
Soken remains a cryptid we love.

My first final fantasy was ffx after I told my mom I wanted ff7 since my neighbor had it and I really thought cloud was cool after seeing the wall market scene as a kid and thinking it was funny af
Getting ffx would be my vehicle into the rest of the series and I was so happy when I got that opening cutscene and sin is just wrecking shit and I was sold on the rest of the series
From ffx to tactics to 14 what a fucking journey this little showcase they did awoke something in me I haven’t felt since I 7 and experiencing final fantasy for the first time
I look forward to playing this in a few years when it comes out on PC.

FFXVI is FFXIV baby. The culmination of all the experience making FFXIV brought forth to make the best FF to date.
MAX DOOD was part of the showcase HOLY SHIT
I know the entire CBU3 is amazing, but the standouts are really Yoshi-P, Koji and Soken. They've got so much personality on stage and convey their passions for their work so well, compared to what you kind of expect from "computer geeks" that spend a lot of their waking hours in front of screens.
MaxDood is both big fan of Final Fantasy and Capcom which fits right in to translate Suzuki Ryota (FF combat designer poached from Capcom) design intention.

The demo was so damn good. Just got done playing it and man, I'm 33 and have played FF games since I was 9 and not 1 of them has made me tear up in the first hour like this 1 did. Only complaint I can think of is low fps sometimes, but the visuals, voice acting, music, combat, everything was so damn nice.
and tbh is a demo build and as we expected an early build, final build is optimized

That last part with Diablo 4 Devs playing in Tier 1 aged well
This game is sick. Combining the extreme difficulty from Elden Ring (1 hit, and it gives you 5% hp), requires combination of buttons and skill, great graphics in action and magic, amazing stories, stunning musics.
Not the usual FF, with more like medium difficulty and such.
@@ionize2782 lol have you missed how they added those "time gems" ( idk what they're called) that like legit makes things easier for people who wants to play easier.
I dunno about the difficulty shown. I feel like, in FF games of the past, I would've found this fight at level 50 and won on my first messy, grueling try. The combination of skills in real time combat still has me sold, but I suspect NG+ difficulty with the ring that automates Torgol will be that sweet spot of challenge for me without having to consult a guide to find enemies 1.5x my level.
Finally the time has come.
