It shows how un PC things were on BBC 1 in 1981 when one of the highlights of the evening was a contest to find who would be a contestant in Miss Europe. Also if Benny Hill had a new show on ITV at 8.00, 20 million people would be roaring their heads off at him being chased by young women.
