Was in the retail gold industry for a while, switched to another profession but handmake pure gold and silver rings on weekends. Love this guy. Its not cheap to make this stuff, tools are expensive. Even polishing tools and buffs are expensive, and casting for good work is also expensive. There's more overhead then just rent in this industry. I like the fact he negotiates on the price too, old school. the real stab is people selling wood and stainless steel rings as well as silicone rings. In the age of mass manufacturing, buying a handmade piece is always nice, you should buy it if you like it and it suites you. You buy jewlery you can afford and thats it, its a luxury item, don't expect it to be cheap, because if its cheap its not a luxury.

I can show you some boxes where the detail would blow your mind, but even then they don't always sell for 100 times the price of the weight of the silver used.

Spot price for silver around 0.80 cents per gram. You guys charge around 8-10 dollars per gram. Harlembling sells stuff for 2-3 dollars per gram. Websites like that have less expenses so the markup is lower. That’s why trax’s markup is higher. They have more expenses especially living in nyc, one of the most expensive places in the world. It’s basic math. Trax sells items at price so they can sustain a profit and stay in business

A couple years ago I bought some silver bars that I *thought* I would be able to turn into jewelry at my construction job. They are still sitting in bar form. I wasn't able to do it. There was alot of skill and tools it took that I just didn't have. Jewelry is much more than just materials costs. Takes quite a bit of skil just to make it. And if you want it good then it will cost more. Respect to all the jewellers out there.

If you want to buy precious metals for investment buy in bar or coin form. When you buy jewelry you are paying extra for it being artwork that took craftsmanship and time and $ to make.I just bought the baby angel with an ak47 neclace and I am very happy with pricing compared to James Avery or some other reputable company!

The Trax brand, the reliability, the quality of the product, the location all demand premium. If you’re not comfortable paying for those things you can always go for a bargain bin option. That guy probably buys at pawn shops and bases it off scrap value, but even at a pawn shop they charge more than scrap value. Your product is hand made wich takes time and effort. Traxnyc will always have the best prices and products for hand made jewelry.
Y’all believe anything ya see on the internet. I live in NY and I make jewelry myself and I’m just a regular joe I ain’t rich or nowhere close to it. But I’ve been inside the Casting place where I go to get my 3D prints & castings done and I’ve seen several of Trax employees in there on different occasions picking up castings just like I was. That place charges me like $37 a gram for 14k gold and I just started like 4 months ago so imagine what Trax is paying, somebody who’s probably had a relationship with that company for years. Stop believing everything you see, Trax is not making nothing by hand he’s using the same casting companies that make jewelry for anybody who got the money

Yeah, if you invest in metals buy the bullion, like coins and bars. If you buy jewelry you aren't really investing in it, you're just buying it. Unless it's 24k but most jewelry is made from an alloy of the metal, which is 14-22k.

Hundreds of hours, getting the silver out the ground, refining, shipping, crafting designing. Silver is and always been huge mark ups in jewelry, for many reasons, ill give you a few, 1- you cant afford gold but want shiny things they get you on the silver, 2- it takes the same work to create the same item if it took $100 to create and time to sale well to make on a metal thats $20 dollars vs a metal thats gold $1700. the seller makes a $100 profit on silver he spent $120 100% profit the gold you make $400 profit but the seller spent $1800 to make the same item.. the gold piece you make 25% which makes more money, silver Big Dog...

He didn't even mention the cost of the labour for actually making the pieces, it might be $2 in scrap but manufacturing plus labour could easily push to $100 and that's just the cost, mark up for him to get it could be brought to $130-150. So ±$200 isn't bad considering it isn't just a plain band.

The jewelry game is a scam. Look at the actual price of metals, and compare that to what you pay at a jewelry store for the same amount of metal. It's like throwing money away. Buy the metal and take it to a jeweler to make a custom piece. It will be the same or cheaper than if you walked in there and bought something.

The price is the price, and people can try to negotiate if they want to. I understand a gold / diamond seller utilizing a huge markup on silver that favors their profit margin, considering time is money. I totally get it. Some people want the brand so they’ll pay a few hundred for a silver piece. Obviously if I want a deal on silver I will shop around, and probably wouldn’t ever buy it from a company who charges this much..

It's the work that goes behind making those pieces of art. Silver is cheap but the labor and designs will cost you a lot.
Businesses have overheads and oncosts, ofcourse there will be margins. Most businesses have 100-1000% mark ups on each of their items to remain profitable. Don't forget there's labour that goes into the ring too.
If It's cheap,
It ain't Luxury.
As simple as it gets.
But you don't have to buy it if you think it's overpriced. let the market decide the rest.
