I watched this before class today and was spamming kimura - hip bumps all open mat. works like a charm. never been able to get the hip bump to work before, but it was working well for me tonight against a guy who had like 100 lbs on me. thanks!
So tough to execute as a beginner…point is “you have to do the time and put in the work as a white belt!” Forget the belts colors and nonsense and just work repeat work repeat til 3 years go by then see how far you’ve come! Enjoy getting submitted as a beginner you will learn so much for those rounds!
Something I’ve been taught with the hip bump: instead of reaching across and grabbing your opponent’s arm with the free hand, you can (if you’re competing or practicing with a knowing participant) use your bicep to club them and further shift their center of gravity to the side you’re sweeping toward
As a white belt, I love this! Now if I could only remember them during my rolls lol.
Lol
Facts!
Exactly!!!
I feel that. As a 6 month white belt for me keeping my breath under control helps me think clearer. It helps me not to panic so much.
That is how I am too I remember some stuff but I am just trying to survive 😅

Thank you for this! I’ve found myself in closed guard several times now with no idea what to do next. Much appreciated!
Thx for the lesson, I go to CJJF so this gives me the extra edge during sparring >:)
