      Nah, saying "hot", "cute", or "attractive" for a guy and a girl is equal, meaning looks matter equally as much for both. The reason why handsome and beautiful are different is bc handsome is more "proper" and almost outdated. Beautiful has a bit of the same vibe but people still say it. Handsome is only said by a guy's mom pretty much lmfao

      I have noticed a lot that especially women who ended up with great men in their lives still sometimes openly make comments like that ("men are scary/bad etc") - obviously excluding their boyfriends, friends or family members from that, but still having this generalizing take towards men. Maya for example is a streamer who I have often heard say something like that.
      It's a tough nut to crack, because the shared bad experiences with men that many young women have probably slowly fostered that collective image of masculinity, so it's not fair to say that it's not valid. But on the other hand it's very unfair to the whatever-percentage of men that are completely normal, good people and understandably drives guys into the arms of toxic masculinity proclaimers, just like toast said.

The sad thing is in the replies to these comments I'm seeing a pretty substantial lack of empathy across these gender boundaries, despite the agreement that these boundaries should be loosening rather than becoming more restrictive.

    Toast isn't wrong. If you actively treat a particular group as if they're your enemy, sooner or later a significant proportion of them are going to become your enemy. If people side with you, and support you, and you still treat them like trash, eventually a decent number of them are going to get fed up and go "Alright, I'll look somewhere else for empathy, then", and where they look will probably be a pretty bad place. Sure, men have a lot of advantages in society. They also don't have perfect lives, and a large number of them don't have it as easy as you might imagine. And when you treat them as if they're worthless, as if they're nothing, and as if their problems don't matter... Eventually many will turn to bad ideologies simply to escape the narrative that essentially "You are trash because you are a man", because that is something they didn't choose, can't control, and can't turn off. And you've given them no other means to escape that categorization except to completely deny your perspective.

    • @kati3514
      @kati3514 3 месяца назад +17

      I’ve always hated the categorization of men and women because 1. I have my own brothers and I don’t want them to be seen in such a way just for being a man, nor feel worse about themselves for something they couldn’t control and 2. I’ve dealt with it on the other side as a woman. Led to a lot self hatred just for being born a woman, a lot of shame, insecurities, and one of the things that feed my depression. I don’t want my loved ones to feel the same way. I know some things a said as jokes, but to hear it so often as it were facts just eats at you and starts to make you believe that’s how the whole world really sees you. It’s sad to see the result of what these statements do to men and women, yet there are some people who are unable to comprehend this, only to further call them “pathetic,” or “weak,” which is what really led them there in the first place.

    • @soobin-10792
      @soobin-10792 3 месяца назад

      As a woman, this was a truth that was a little hard for me to swallow but I acknowledge it 1000%. I don’t see all men as automatically evil, but that they all have the potential and capability to do the worst. But that’s just how women throughout the world have to see things in order to minimize the chances of being assaulted, raped, tortured, murdered, etc by men. It’s our survival instinct, perpetuated by the patriarchy. However, I have seen girls/women in my life hold a subconscious or blatant disgust or hatred for all men and I don’t condone that at all. It’s no wonder those people would drive some men to seek approval and empathy from other sources.

      @motyovszkimiklos7538 3 месяца назад +8

      okay but lets not confuse the order of things happened tho. People were sexist first, which created frustration in women, which only after that sometimes culminates in them retaliatiing in toxic ways which can feed the cycle again. But women didnt have less human rights in the first place because they said mean things to young guys

    • @SyntheticDivine
      @SyntheticDivine 3 месяца назад +23

      @motyovszkimiklos7538 I never said that women started or were the original cause of the problem. But by the same measure, turning around and trying to inflict the *same kind of pain* on new generations of young men, that male oppressors of the past inflicted on others, as a form of vengeance does nothing to solve the problem either. Those young men were not the ones who started the problems either, and unfortunately the most-oppressive generations are already dead and buried, and vengeance against them can never be had no matter what you do. Our only choice is where we go from here. If society chooses to inflict on young men the same kind of pain that their ancestors inflicted on others as a form of generational vengeance, they can certainly do that, but they’re going to create a lot of monsters and miserable people in the process, without really doing anyone any good. Or we can all try to show empathy to each other and actually try to solve the underlying issues and reach a better place, rather than perpetuating the vilification of groups that contain numerous innocents (and so create a lot of collateral damage).

      Think if it like a pendulum swing in which it had previously swung so far to the male side, so over-emphasizing the support for women over men for a time helps with swinging that pendulum back towards equality. Personally I think we've done a great job in modern society with rectifying that inequality, not that it will ever be perfect, and men that support womens rights still feeling comfortable in making comments live the above are a sign that the over-emphasizing is perhaps less needed for a time, personally. I think society is doing pretty good all things considered.

    Toast's take is actually really superficial. If you get triggered by comments like this chances are you have misogynistic sentiments to begin with. It's one thing to criticize this stance(it's not criticized only from men) and another thing to actively hate on women because of it. Feminism doesn't stand for hating men, this is a side effect of thousand year old oppression. Choosing this victim narrative shows how insecure these people are to the slightest change of status quo.

      You’re completely wrong. If young men already had misogynistic thoughts to begin with, Toast wouldn’t even bother to convince them to change their minds. Instead he didn’t want his young viewers to BECOME misogynistic. If the left are full of misandrists, that says plenty. You women don’t want to admit it.

Many of the younger guys out there might not have the maturity to figure these out themselves yet, or not given the chance too when confronted with an all-encompasing wall that say they are bad solely for what they were born with between their crotch.

    He's not wrong. And its almost always super slight, under the radar things that women say. For example, I couldn't tell you the number of times I have been hanging out with a group of friends (multiple guys and girls present) where one girl says something along the lines of "There aren't any good guys anymore. All the good guys are married or gay" followed on by a 5 minute rant of agreeance by all the girls there while all the guys just sit there looking at each other feeling awkward, thinking "damn, so that is why I am single. I'm not just good enough I guess."
    The vast, vast majority of women/girls today say things like that all the time and don't even realize the effect it has on the men in their lives around them that they supposedly say they value.
    And Sydney looking completely lost on Toast's comment and immediately following up with the "nah man, men are trash. Anyways..." is exactly how those same women always respond to being called out on a comment like that. No recourse, no follow up questions to try to understand the issue. Dismiss, avoid, move on. Ignorance is bliss.

      She is a prime example of how to create sexism and thats a fact. Everything that Toast said about that remark was true. It’s sexist comments like that and others that breed resentment and drive young men to fallow people like Andrew Tate and worse.
      If you truly are someone who stands against all sexism and all injustice you cannot defend what she said. If you do defend what she said and say it’s fine because men have been sexist for centuries, you immediately become no better than what you claim to fight against.
      Side note: If you’re going back thousands of years the difference between men and women become much more prominent everything was harder and more physical and men are naturally better at that and that is why men would look down on women.
      If you want an example look at sports, women cannot compete against men.
      The top female athletes are absolutely incredible and deserve a lot of praise and respect as female athletes,
      However if you put those top female athletes against the top male athletes it’s not fair.
      Men and women are not the same and we are not equal and that’s a fact but that does not mean women are inferior or men a inferior, we are all humans with different strengths and weaknesses.

And then those men who are insecure about their masculinity hearing all man and stuff about generalising them was pushed through those phase of andrew tate podcast that women are lesser and etc, validating their feelings in the wrongest way possible, then they feel that feel that they have more power than women and became more violent against women, making women's belief about them more in place and that it is true that all man are like that and it goes over and over.
