The second most criminal thing about these podcasts are those comments telling you to change your ways. The chemistry & delivery is unreal, a literal 50/50 split (excluding the behind the scenes work of Dan) would be near impossible to forge! Keep it up lads!

For me Myra is equally to blame, she completely enabled pretty much all of these atrocities, and reading the transcripts gives you an idea of how callous she was w it. Big up the brother in law for putting both these bozos in a cell

Chandlyman - too right she was! Myra drove the car that was used to abduct the victims, and she wore a wig to disguise herself. No way would any of the victims have got into the car without seeing a woman inside. She was a depraved human being, no question.

So glad you covered this and it was a belter to listen to 😊 Apparently Ian Brady wanted his ashes scattered on the moors which was just grotesque and demonstrated his total lack of remorse... personally I would have just flushed the remains down the toilet! As a kid in growing up in Liverpool, Brady being in Ashworth hospital made him seem like the boogeyman while he was alive. Every year on the anniversary of Keith Bennett’s death, his poor mum would be on the local news appealing for information and they’d always flash up the infamous mugshots of Hindley and Brady and it would freak me out.
Great pod as usual. Don’t listen to any fools criticising your styles of delivery. It’s what makes the pod unique.

When I was a youngster my football team used to take us to play and train at the Ashworth facilities.
We used to have to wait in reception and then they would lead us to a sports hall. Looking back it seems bizarre that a group of schoolboys were taken to train in an asylum that was home to Ian Brady! Was an eerie place! Don’t remember seeing any of the residents though!

He was actually very protective of animals. He tied up some kid and got some other boys to beat the shit out of him for hurting, I believe, a bird. It’s what fascinates me because he has all the traits of a stereotypical killer except he loved animals and so it’s so interesting to me how he empathises with animals but not humans.

Winnie wrote to Myra Hindley in prison, begging her to reveal the whereabouts of her son’s grave. Hindley did not reply to the letter, but she told others that Winnie needed “to grow a brain”. This demonstrates the utter cold-hearted depravity of the POS that was Myra Hindley.

Strangeways's names is purely to do with the area in which the prison is based, its actual name is HM Prison Manchester, It's name is to do with the river not the prison. It's a strong brewing area, Fred Dibnah did a documentary about the chimney from the brewery.

@@ICouldMurderAPodcast if you’re REALLY interested it probably stems from the old English for ‘by a strong riverway’ and the area has been called something like strangeways since the 1300s

The image of Maureen Hindley and David Smith at 39:13 was re-drawn and used by Sonic Youth for their 1990 album goo.

I used to live about 5 minutes from Brady and Hindley's old house, which has since been torn down. I was also about 5 minutes from Dr Shipman's old surgery. 3 of the UKs worst serial killers all in walking distance. Lots of fun!

The Smiths made a haunting song about the children. It is called "Suffer little children" and the album was banned for sale by WHSmith amongst other retailers. Johns mother was very angry about the song but it's really very moving and no disrespect was meant. I can't wait to hear what you gentlemens take is on this dreadful case.

Hindley died in the same ward at West Suffolk hospital that my dad had 6 months earlier, and was cremated in the same place. That made me irrationally angry.

@@ICouldMurderAPodcast it’s ridiculous really, she had to die somewhere and be cremated somewhere. Everything she came into contact with in the ward was incinerated and the ward was redecorated but when I see footage of her funeral (it flashes up at the weirdest of times) I just see my Dad. She was one hard, nasty bitch.

My parents left Manchester because they had 2 young boys and one on the way in the early 60s, and these Murders scared the living shite out out of them. They propelled us into Purple Aki country instead. PS. You’re funny. P.I.S.S. I know all the places you’re talking about, all the street names, weird AF.
