    FAQs/Why would they do that?! Answers
    We are so glad you are here! Welcome to our channel!
    1. We are in Oklahoma near the Arkansas border.
    2. We do this on a volunteer basis.
    3. Kim aka Mom is retired. Jennifer owns her own business as a massage therapist.
    4. We film multiple locations in one day since we can’t go out all the time given Jen’s full time job. You may not see all the locations we filmed that day in one video.
    5. You may see other people in our videos at times including Granny aka Sue (mom’s mom), Jeff (Kim’s husband and Jennifer’s dad), or Jessica (Jennifer’s little sister) and Lucy (our beautiful, amazing, wonderful dog).
    6. Many wonder why we put stuff down culverts. A few reasons: it provides help for wildlife, we like to and it would have gone downstream anyway. If it blocks another culvert then we will take care of that too but most of the locations we visit are in incredibly rural areas where there won’t be another culvert for miles.
    7. We care about wildlife and never want to cause harm to them. The only reason we will clear a beaver damn is if it is threatening land or roads that can not be accessed any other way. It may not be the road directly within sight but a farm road close by.
    8. We appreciate advice in the comments. We understand that we will receive constructive criticism in the comments. What we won’t allow is the calling of names, derogatory terms, or just plain calling us stupid or idiots. We are all adults here and the internet is already a largely negative place as it is, let’s not add to it. We are people doing our best to help our neighborhood and planet by picking up trash and clearing culverts. Why do we deserve hate for that?
    9. You may not agree with or like the way we did something but that doesn’t mean we did it wrong. There is a right/wrong way to dismantle a bomb. Clearing culverts is up for interpretation to the one doing the work.
    10. We hope that you enjoy our videos and will keep coming back for more! Any other questions you have feel free to ask in the comments.
    a new bridge we haven't shown yet. we have cleaned this one multiple times before. hoping to go back and get more done later. we hope to keep putting out these videos and hoping you are liking them!

    You could try a cordless reciprocating saw with wood blades. May not take care of giant logs but would buzz through the smaller stuff in no time. Plus, they are amazing when you need to blow off a little steam. Nothing calms me down more than watching these videos or using power tools!

    Ladies! Love your channel and watch it daily. Here is a thought. On those low water bridges when the water is so high and washing over the concrete bridge itself? When the water is low take some pink or orange spray paint and draw an arrow right on the road showing where the culverts are. That way when you go back during high water you'll be able to see the arrow!

      There is a lot of different versions of tools that you could use to help you while you are doing all of this work. There are small hand-held chain saws that have slot of safety features that are built into them.
      Also, there is attachments that you can get for the camera. There are stands, tri-pods. You also attach them to your chest or to your head. That way its there recording while the both of you do everything that you do!

    • @culvertsandmore
      @culvertsandmore  Год назад +4

      there is no where else to put them on this creek. The banks are too high. The logs are too heavy to lift into the woods and this is the last bridge before the main River meaning there are no other culverts for it to get stuck on. When we can put logs to the side we do but there is no point on this particular one.

    • @ArcticYuzu
      @ArcticYuzu Год назад +3

      it is actually necessary and wise to leave some of the branches in the stream. Aquatic little insects and creatures live in the top layer of wet branches and logs and long story short the more there is wood in the stream the more there will be food for the fish.

    Don't know why you're putting leaves and logs in the culvert there's not enough water to flush them out.

    • @culvertsandmore
      @culvertsandmore  Год назад

      We explained in the video why we did that. 1. We are getting rain here now so it will flush eventually 2. They are incredibly heavy and waterlogged so we can only move them so far. We got them lined up enough to go through with the next rain. We aren’t superhuman. There’s only so much we can do. 3. The bank on this creek floods constantly so putting leaves and logs to the side is a very temporary fix that we would have to handle later. Thanks for the view!

    I thought that you were cleaning the culver's but, what you doing is pushing all that debris down. Don't know how that's going to be clean

      @@culvertsandmore Yes, this end is clear, but downstream there are bigger blockages in smaller areas.
      You have to get the sticks and logs out of the water. Otherwise, all you're doing is moving the whole mess down the river.

      @@michellekunes2861 ma’am, not trying to sound rude, but we have already addressed this numerous times in the comments. The banks of this creek are too high for us to lift heavy logs, this is the last set of culverts before it joins the river therefore there is nothing left to get stuck on, the creek floods massively high here therefore making branches on the banks useless and lastly, a couple videos later you see that the branches have cleared the culverts. We understand this isn’t how everyone would do it but given that we are the ones doing it this is how we will accomplish it. Have a good day.
