    Amazing tactics after Duda's f2-f4! I really love the variation leading to Qf3 aiming a double-attack on: (1) the h5-square; and, (2) the b7-Knight! 17:23 ...or a triple attack with the pawn-fork at the end. (I had been solely focusing on ways to get White's Q to the h5-square, but totally forgot about that enduring Undefended Black Knight.)

      What was most impressive about it, was how quickly he found it, yet incredibly he was shaking his head in disgust for a minute or so just prior to playing this move. He seemed to believe he spoiled his position when he played Nh7. When he retreated his knight to g5, he appeared to be quite upset with himself. And then he goes and uncorks f4! It was incredible to see that, with how mad he was with himself. I thought he was going to blunder for sure with the expressions on his face.

    I don't usually make a request but... any chance of a Rapport-Ding video?? Honestly not seen a game like that in quite some time though I am sure you are massively busy atm!
    Fab video here! I am going to be eating some massive humble pie when Nepo wins this tournament having written him off pretty much throughout until Fabi's recent mini-collapse.

      Re Rapport-Ding - I didn’t have time last night, sorry.

    • @Cyst11
      @Cyst11 2 года назад

      @@PowerPlayChess That's understandable. Perhaps you could come back to it after the tournament has concluded (should Ding end up in second) - or even in one of those best of the year polls?

      @@PowerPlayChess no need to apologise, you're a busy man! Especially as it was the latest of the games to finish.

    As always, excellent work with your analysis. Curious if there is any chance you could cover the Rapport / Ding Liren game at some stage? It was quite exceptional, and possibly one of the best of the tournament.

      Without a doubt best of the tournament. I would say best of the year and in contention for one of the best ever. It was marvelous to follow live

    Great to see Duda get a win, the tournament situation is make no for exciting games. In Norwegian, Springer på randen er i sanden. Literally the same as the German which I hear you speak well. Thanks Daniel and keep up the good work.

    At 18'46'':, after the Rook check. If Kg7 (instead of Kh7) I guess the beautiful win is Qg2+, and if the Rook interposes, White just just takes it with the Queen and follows it up with Ne5+. Nice.

    Nice to see Duda get a win. Watching his pained expressions during the game, it was as if he thought he'd blown it on a few different occasions.

    It takes away the excitement when there is someone so much ahead of the field with so many rounds to go. It would be nice to have back the excitement of the 2013 candidates tournament and that race between Magnus and Vladimir... and that final round when Ivanchuck said the last word.

    • @Matthew-bu7fg
      @Matthew-bu7fg 2 года назад +2

      2013 gets plenty of attention but 2016 was pretty sick too. Karjakin vs Caruana, Fabi needed a win with black and went for it, Karjakin kept icy cool and find all the right defensive moves to eventually claim the upper hand and the win.

    This is the second game in a row that Fabi put his Knights on the rim. Do you think this has something to do with his losses? I know they sometimes can be strong there but, it seems like in his last two games, those pieces were shut out of the game. Thanks for all your videos! Amazing work!

    You could tell Duda was brimming with confidence with all those tactical moves near the end of the game.

    Excellent recap of the game. Of interest towards tomorrow's games, Alireza was playing bullet chess online at Lichess against Danya until 5:45 AM Madrid time. They played a 250 game 30 second match, in which Naroditsky won by like 20 some games. It appears Alireza was quite TILTed by his loss today. I don't know if he has mentally checked out of this tournament, or simply given up. It's a shame. It will be interesting to see the effort he puts in tomorrow. I don't know if Nepo could get any luckier this tourney. Who knows, maybe Firouzja pulls out a miraculous win tomorrow, sleep deprived with not much preparation. I wouldn't bet on it though. I'm sure Fabi, Naka and Ding weren't thrilled about the match.

    i have no doubt the top players of today with the exception of Carlsen would have a very hard time playing the greats of the past , Capa, Lasker , Alekhine , Fischer , Morphy and a few others given enough time to familiarize with new theory would make short work on today's top players , can you imagen taking computers away from today's players and forcing them to rely on their own brain 100% ! that would be a site to see! Good game by Duda , good video , thank you

    You English people have a real problem with the letter R: sometimes you ignore one that is in a word (e.g. “chart” = “chaaht”) and other times you add one where it doesn’t exist (“Caruaner”, “Duder”). You may have invented the language but sure went off the rails at some point.
