- Welcome to the inaugural "Lexer's Comp!" This one is titled "Green Cup," as it takes place on only green maps.
We race in a Top-Out format tournament (like Kerki Comp) with ten winners.
Maps are (somewhat) well-known tracks from the workshop:
Lexer - Shattered City
ZOMAN and Poopsheriff - Phantasm
Dylan - Lemon Limeade
Kernkob and St Nicholas - Spearmint
Quickracer10 - Monolith
I liked seeing so many finalists makes the next winner a bit more of an unknown
This was a super fun style of event, Very glad to compete.
Also a very fun video to watch
fun comp!
Very cool, I hope you continue to iterate on this style! Relatively new to Zeepkist, but hopefully I can make it to the next one and round out the midfield :)
I had only seen Spearmint and Shattered City before this competition. I still hadn't finished Phantasm or Lemon Limeade when we started putting down times. I had fun, but I was never going to be a threat to anyone.
I like your ride!
I think If you use better splits your chance to win earlier will increase significantly. When others use it and you don't you just have a disadvantage. Anyways, good format I think. And this many finalist make later rounds way more exciting for everyone
It will let you know if you didn't have the fastest split, time or speed, but it isn't going to help you find better lines more quickly than just watching your splits from a previous run. It is still going to require map reading and experience to make a difference.
I used to play without better splits, turned it on for some record hunting and forgot to turn it off, I have not seen even the slightest improvement in performance in competitions
I joined this and did terribly considering it was such a stacked lobby. Fun to join in though all the same
man just imagine it. if we didnt have lexer we would have no way to know what colour a plant is?!?! so crazy
You still need finish in high place while being finalist just because it will block other players to get points too fast
drop the points awarded for finishing lower down on the leaderboard and this would be a really fun format I think, although having like 15 finalists is also pretty funny ngl
I was hoping this would be a little more friendly for the midfield, which I guess it was, but not how I intended it.
Nice ride.
Nice car btw
Yo Lex, I need some advice from a pro. Can you give me some dos and don'ts for building the second half of a good competition map? The first half is done, and I'm pretty happy with it, but now I have mapper's block. I think I'm just afraid of screwing something up at a point where it will be too late for a reset. I've never actually built a map before, despite 2+ years of playing the game, and I'm trying to take it seriously.
Hard to say without seeing the map itself. The only standard advice I could give is don't make the ending the hardest part of the map.
I'd also recommend joining the Zeepkist discord server and asking around for advice. People are usually willing to help
Thanks Lexer, I'll paint something green for you. Also, (important question) do you like s'mores?
@@Naomi_Boyd of course 😂
