Magical Musketeer Max and Traptrix Sera. 2 powerful link 1s. Both released in the same set and both revitalized their archetypes. However, Sera was the beginning of something hopeful and Max was the curtain call to a tragic story.

Traptrix doesn't work by itself though, they get tons of Trap Holes Normal Traps every year.

Yes weather painters is the sister deck. They came out in the same set but weather painters are considered superior deck wise.
I'd say this is kinda prime for Duel Links now, but with stuff like Floodgate even countering Noble Knight, it probably would be bad there too, or at least not a topping deck.

Magical muskets ,like most decks, needs a power card such as an e-tele or a card to special out more monsters from the hand cause once your normal summoned is stop, that’s basically the end of the turn

I think magical musketeers were overhyped, but it is still a good rogue deck. Its perfect with floodgates like summon limit and generic negate traps. Furthermore look at the Link🥰

@@tickledeggz his point is that magical musketeers would be able to use said quick launch way more efficiently than other archetypes, it basically fixes most of the problems the deck has. It won’t make them tier one or anything but they would probably be rouge contenders

Muskets also really benefitted from Utopia double coming as an easily dropped OTK.
This archetype all it needs is a monster with "you can normal summon 1 "magical musketeer" monster in addition to your normal summon"

Magical Musketeer is with no doubt one of my favorite decks ever made :) to this day I am still playing this deck
I love Muskets to. They are my go to deck in Master Duel right now and got me all the way into Platinum.
I run them with Amazement Administrator Arlekino and the Link Charmers. Such a fun combination
My favorite archetype as far as the concept is concerned. I would love it if Konami gave us more demon summoning and/or gunslingers.

@@quietrioter well obscure characters have gotten their deck printed before. I didn't remember half of the characters in the poll that got fossils printed as a real. archetype.

Edit: Salty plunder players in the comment section saying the deck will be good soon. LOL SURE! I’m sure if you get a wind ship your deck will beat the meta of vfd loop, Dino DNA and vanity.deck.
Edit 2: And sure, maybe the dangers were good. But they were only good because of other archetypes. A girl I knew played pure danger at a local and lost all her games, not even against meta just lost. Best danger decks? Dark world and thunder dragon crusadia.

Dude Plunder Patroll is a deck where you can screw up and go +3 without even realizing. Whitebeard. Summon from deck. Redbeard. Equip to a ship to make it a quick effect. Golden Hair. The level 4 water monster that just screams make Bahamut and Toad so long as you didn't use the GY effect. The deck has options galore and the ships being quick effects refresh your hands to use the other monster effects like Lys. Plus they have Booty which fixes their problem with attributes. Maybe something a light monster for Lys or a fire type for Brann. You definitely gotta try Plunder.

Plunders is the last good World Premiere.

To this day I'm still proud of the day I beat a Dino player while it was the main meta and I was using Magical Muskets
Funnily enough, Zoodiac was so busted that when Konami tried the "pulling a spin" on the Xyz mechanic again with the Springans (you know, an archetype that summons Xyz first and attaches materials to them later), they REALLY hold them back to prevent another Zoodiac shenanigan.

@@alonsoarana5307 Twilight Eraser IMO, is the only good card that came out of Twilights. Because you don't need Twilights to play it. Just run Pure Lightsworn with it for extra special summons and card removal. 😊
Also, for this video, Twilights aren't exactly an archetype. It's a sub-archetype.

@@philithegamer8265 The critical weakness of Lightsworns was their Spells/Traps. 90% of those cards do not synergize AT ALL with their milling. So if you lose them, that's it. You're out of luck.
Understandable during 2008. Lightsworns were way ahead of their time.
But now, Shaddolls, BA, Metalfoes, you name it. They all have Spells/Traps that synergize well with their mills and graveyard triggered effects.
Now, imagine if Lightsworns had that. 😉
A field spell based off the place where Max forges the magical bullets (which should help summon additional monsters as well as a “Skyscrapers” ripe of effect) and a spell making allusion to the tournament where Max uses the bullets (which should help you reuse the Magical musketeers spells and traps effects, sorta like “pseudo-space”). Addresses the main issues and it’s still lore faithful.

Three things can make magical musketeers meta
First : a link 3 or 4 with 3000 atk
Second : a reinforcement for fiends
Third : a way ro get around the normal summoning dependence
I made the deck on Master Duel. Had to abandon it after 6 straight games of no Musketeers in the opening hand, despite running 15 of them. Really hurt any hype for the deck when Master Duel's RNG works firmly against you.
Even if it's not the highest tier, Musketeers are the single deck I have the most fun playing.

I remember playing musketeers and losing against midragon of the swamp because it had too much atk and couldn't be targeted lol but the deck is still pretty solid, if you add some spicy techs the deck can definitely hold its own
What makes tier 1 & 0 in general is just mass numbers of the similar decks and not the win percentage of decks; which in turn makes it difficult to determine what's actually strong.
I like how traptrix get a really good link 1 but paleos get a link 2 that you cannot even summon turn 1.

Wait, Magical Musketeers are flop? I remember seeing them quite often at locals and they even top here and there. Probably not a meta deck but I'm pretty sure that they did fine and there's definitely worse out there.
As a musket player who played it at the beginning, and came back after max was released, i can say this assessment is completely accurate. Max and Crown made the deck a viable rogue contender.
someone at my local has been playing magical musketeer for the last few weeks and has had a few weeks and has done pretty well
A Anti-Fragrence Jinzo deck shuts them down hard while keeping monster effects viable on your side of the field.
I knew it wouldn't be as big as every thought it would be, but they are still one of my favorite archetypes of all time. Still waiting for them to get a rank 3 and 4 of Ottokar and Four bridesmaids. Remember people; hype responsibly.

I don't mind a archetype not being competitive. What sucks is when they feel incomplete or contradictory to their design. Ice Barrier, Vendread, F.A., Ojama.
I hope this will not be the future for Flundereez as they are strong but have very obvious glaring weaknesses and not so great maych up like Magical Musketeer, but them cute birds deserve the Meta, not collecting dust on the waste side.

they need a quick play spell to ss one, and a better boss monster thats easier to summon with at least 2K atk. so like a quick launch for the archetype and maybe a monster that banishes anything that a musket monster battles in the same column as it....and maybe let's you grab a spell or trap from the deck when its summoned too.
It's like when people thought Crystal Seer was gonna make Apprentice Monarchs tier 0...
If they got a field spell it would be great! Say, if it did something like this

Hi MegaCapital G, I've been using BA for a lot of years now and I have a LOT of replays saved showing how broken this 2021 iteration of BA Norleras turbo version can be and how consistent it is, it's ever better than when they first came out years ago. It doesn't even need Phantom of chaos. And this is after Linkross got banned which was the easiest way to get rid of link-2 fairy for Norleras' summoning requirement. Optimal first turn leave you +4, opponent with 0 cards in hand and you summoning a 10,000+atk monster next turn as well as other things.
Norleras is just begging to be abused.
@@philithegamer8265 Unfortunately my deck got nerfed after Union Carrier ban which drop the deck consistency why a lot. I still managed to get top 30 at Duelingnexus using it, however, I was at top 15 before the nerf.

Pot of Disparity and Crossout Designator would also make them a lot better in the TCG metagame by the time they come out.

Kinda funny. A few minutes ago i was playing tri brigade zoodiac and dueled a magic musketeer player. I barely won the duel with 400 life points and half of his deck were unrelated cards. And he was desperately trying to fill up his extra deck by adding cards he couldnt summon like dragoon and invoked mechaba. But he only had 14 extra deck cards
To me the deck just doesn't feel satisfying to play. It always feels like I have to put in extra work to do what other decks can pull of effortlessly. To top it of I don't feel that the gunslinger theme was really captured well in terms of gameplay.
RIP Cap. You have done the YuGiOh community well and proud. It's okay. You can go now.
Nothing will ever be disappointing than Vendreads
A video about yugi tubers and how they effect or don't effect the market would be interesting. Like this archetype, blowing it up to be something it's not
They need a Will of the Salads, a field spell that tutors on summons, a monster that drops itself on either turn, and a Rank 4 with a disruption. Tier 1 guaranteed.
I swear I thought the Thumb nail looked like a demon version of the Character that played D/D/D from Arc-V.

I feel like Konami develops a lot of decks that fall short due to a lack of key features. The best decks have good effects, recovery, and easy summon of good monsters in excess.
My poor Vendreads had limited effects, no swarming ability, no recovery, and despite being able to use material in the gy to ritual summon, none of its monsters had effects while there so there was no bonus like the Ritual Djinns. Sucks because i really did like the concept at first
I still feel like this archetype will be better in duel links, and if you can choose your trap and spell sets and activation zones in DL.
This video cracked me up because I have never once lost to this deck or even come close. Major respect to those who have topped with it, but I’ve never seen a list I was threatened by.

Im not sure how it is compare as zoodiac when zoodiac need 1 zoodiac monster and bunch of extra deck monsters but musketeer need 1 musketeer and spell/trap in the hand which needs 2 cards
Man 2017 was a lax year for yugioh man i remember wasting so much money for Caspar and I actually own a deck they were more first turn but after they got a link and WL awakening help benefit from it and made a going second if they aren’t swarmed also what no torridde tribute that was a staple in my deck

For people reading this comment almost 2 years after this was released, here is a quick cheat sheet for seeing if a hyped up deck is good: if at any point competent deck builders are running cards like Toon Table of Contents, Magical Mallet, or Double Summon in the deck, the deck is most likely bad. If these get cut later on, the deck is probably rogue tier at best, or the deck builder wasn't that competent.
This includes toons, they will never be good.
They need a super boss monster with at least 3000 atk, untargettable and some extra op spell cards to become decent
Even with all that they still wouldnt see play

Magical Musketeer will likely always do better in the TCG because they don't have to face the OCG staple cards like skill drain and Maxx C, the latter makes Magical Musketeer Max near useless as if they have enough back row for him to get you a lot of monsters, you are also giving your opponent a lot of cards when they drop the Maxx C on it.
They only really do okay over here in the TCG because we don't have as many ways to just end their turn as the OCG has, and even over here they will likely never be a tier 1 deck purely because you always need Musketeers and Bullets for those Musketeers, if you get all Musketeers and no Bullets you lose. If you get all Bullets and no Musketeers you lose.
They would effectively need cards of both types that don't rely on the other type to be used to search the other type. So for example a monster that just searches a spell/trap on summon, and a spell that searches a monster but doesn't require you to have a Musketeer on field to be used. An in archetype Double Summon would also be nice, to give them something to fall back on if their summon gets negated.
And honestly as much as I love the deck and would like to see it being good, I'd rather see them give support to newer decks that need it, like Ancient Warriors, the deck mostly only screwed over by it's typing having nearly no generic support. (Guess it's a jab from the Japanese towards the Chinese to make their hero's of old Beast-Warriors) Or at least print more generic support cards that could help every archetype that uses the odd types. I mean I get it Konami you like Dark/Warriors but other things need some time to shine as well.

Not sure if Magical Musketeers can be considered the biggest flop. I mean, they still are a force to be reckoned with, they're just not as good as their hype was. That's not totally their own fault. It can also be due to the meta they were dropped in at the time, other cards that were in the format that could have restricted them, and many other factors.
