Do people still play Luigi's Balloon World? Yes! I did last month when I didn't have Super Mario Maker 2. I farmed coins to buy super expensive outfits when I played it.

Oh man, I was gifted Odyssey for Christmas this year and played it this month. Just finished 100% completion this last weekend. Balloon World was crazy addicting! Glad to see you poking back into it. :D
