But let me tell you something, when he inserted himself as coach of the Mississauga Ice Dogs in their first season, I was there when they played in Guelph. He had hundreds of people shoving stuff in his face to sign. He stopped and signed every last one. That man, for all his faults, respected the game the best he could, respected the fans, and respected the country. That day I went from being a Don Cherry hater to being a Don Cherry fan, and it had nothing to do with his segments on HNIC. The people who cancelled him or supported it have never contributed nearly as much as he did to Canada. And yes, people should buy a poppy.
