Hiya. Yeh you will only be able to have a 2.1 speaker setup which is basically 2 speakers + a subwoofer. In order to get this system working fully you will need a 5.1 soundcard sorry about that.
Hi all the speakers connect to the sub woofer and this is usually placed on the ground to give the best sound. You then plug in the jacks into your soundcard.
Hi so sorry for the late reply I missed your comment. If you are still having trouble I basically put the screws in with the head of the screw away from the wall a little and popped the speaker on. You just need to make sure the screws are in the perfect position.
You can get an adapter from Logitech to connect it to the PS3. RUclips and iTunes would only be in surround if you have a option to force stereo into surround on your sound card software.
@MeAg4in Hi, you will need to either buy a 5.1 external sound card or a new 5.1 internal sound card as at the moment you would only be able to use 2 of the speakers.
@MrLEWIEx Hiya, No headphones usually go into the green socket and a microphone socket usually pink or blue is input only so they cant output sound as they are only inputs for sound. You need a green, black and orange sockets.
You can, but most laptops don't have surround soundcard. You can get an external soundcard that is 5.1 to make all the speakers work with a laptop though.
@FantazyPS3 Yeh Pretty much any 2.1 speaker system will. But if you want surround sound on a laptop you will need an external soundcard have a look on Amazon for External 5.1 sound card there are lots from £10 - £100 so its up to you what you want to spend but a USB one would be best.
Hiya, its a bit hit and miss. The problem is these are analogue speakers with analogue connections. A Blu-ray player will, highly likely, use a digital connection and so with some converters you probably could but honestly I would give them a miss and look for some speakers with something like an optical connection to connect to a blu-ray player.
Hiya, you could do it with a 3.5mm Jack splitter to 3 3.5mm jacks. The only problem is you wouldn't get true 5.1 sound as your computer would only push out stereo sound.
@IVIarZ You can plug the green jack into the iPod but then only 2 of the speakers will work and obviously it can be a hassle to keep taking them out the PC to plug the iPod into.
@FantazyPS3 Hiya! I'm afraid not. The reason is most laptops just have a headphone socket and you need 3 sockets for the full surround. If you try it on the laptop you should find only 2 speakers (the front 2 work.).
Hi, I get asked this a lot. The short answer is no. The longer answer is you could but with a lot of faffing around and you would be better off getting a surround system dedicated for TV use.
Hiya, you could yeh, however this would not be true surround sound. However if all you want is to push sound out of all the speakers then a 3 way splitter will work fine.
@TyCAM141 Yes you can. I have two sets, one hooked up to my PS3 and the other set hooked up to my PC. Very very good 5.1 surround sound for people on a budget.
@ian7779 Hiya, yes i'm afraid these will not be suitable. In order to use the 5.1 surround you need a green, black and orange connection. Your laptop only supports 2.1 speakers i.e. 2 speaks one sub-woofer. The only way to get it to support more would be to look for a usb 5.1. soundcard.
However, there are some modern phones, i know that the samsung galaxy s2 definitely has this, where they have programmed it to put the sound out to all 5 speakers if you press a 5.1 button.
Hiya, yeh the problem is music is stereo not 5.1. If you got your music to play before on Windows 7 through all the speakers I'm guessing there were extra drivers/software installed. So what I would recommend is have a look at the laptops manufacturers website and look for the Windows 7 Audio software. It should work fine on Windows 8 and Windows 8 is effectively Windows 7 and install that. You might then get an option to output music to 5.1.
Hi guys, got this system yesterday, First off, it may just be mine. But there were some problems out of the box, the speakers refused to turn on, and I had to play about a bit with the power switch and the mute button to get them working, (No idea why, but anyway) The sound from these speakers is amazing. Bassy as you could possibly get around this price, also go up to such a loud volume, not as crisp as i would've liked. But amazing none the less, recommended. 5.1 external sound card maybe req.
You need to look in your soundcard settings to see if there is an option to force audio out of the other speakers. Music is designed for stereo not surround so it wont do it unless you force it.
@DefineAmazing Hiya, yeh thats working correctly as music is only in Stereo not surround. Have a look at your soundcard settings there should be something in them to push stereo sound through every speaker.
you don't have to drill the holes out to mount them on the wall. there is a slot in the center of the base that allows you to slide it on a nail on the wall. either way, i got these speaker and have had them for... alot of years. 7 years i think? they still work like new and are better than my altec lansing and boston acoustics.
@xMrRagex Hiya, Basically have a look at the back of your computer you need a green, orange and black input if you have that it will work if not it wont. Some soundcards are built right onto the motherboard depends how old your pc is just have a look for the colours.
If the green light isn't on have you checked the Fuse in the plug. It might of blown. If that's not it then i'm really sorry but I haven't a clue. If you bought them on a credit or debit card and take it back to the shop they should be able to check if your bought it. In the UK you do not have to have a receipt if you bought it that way. Its just shops prefer it as it makes their life easier but the law says you don't have to have it.
lets say I'm listening to music in my room, my goal for these speakers is for them to play music loud enough to where only the music can be heard from outside the door to my room and the speakers not being destroyed lmao, will these do the trick or should I look for something more over the top?
@MrLEWIEx Hiya, if you can only see the green ones and not the orange and black them im afraid you haven't got a 5.1 or 7.1 surround sound card. You can buy one and put it in yourself though if you have any PCI slots free.
@tehAthy Hiya tehAthy. You could connect these to a laptop on the laptops headphones socket but only 2 of the speakers would work. To get them all to work on a laptop you need a external 5.1 surround sound card. The only other way is if your laptop has 5.1 built in which is extremely rare and therefore I doubt it has. Hope this Helps.
Hey, I have a mac with only one audio input, im currently using the JBL creature speakers, but theyre blown out so i wondered about buying these speakers. I just have one question: if i dont buy an external soundcard, how will the sound be when i plug it to my mac with only the one audio input? Ive searched around the web and all i can see is that i will get 2.1 sound and not 5.1, and i dont know what that means, will all the speakers work? Very good review btw! :)
@DefineAmazing Hiya, yeh the problem is there are so many different soundcards and different software to control them I cant easily help you out. You should be able to find out your sound card by typing in "Device Manager" into the start search. Look under sound and it should be there. From there google the sound card name along with stereo to surround and you should be able to find something.
Hi, the sound will come out of them all but like I said before its not 5.1. All the splitter does is duplicates sound to every speaker. So if your after 5.1 say to watch a film or play a game so you can hear something behind you then in front this wont work as all your doing is duplicating the front sound all around you. If you want true 5.1 sound you could get a 5.1 usb sound card for your laptop this would then work as it should.
hello. I watched your review about the x-530. I have one as well that i bought recently, but i do have a question about the sistem. i know it's 5.1, i am using a Creative Sound Blaster Audigy Se 5.1 sound card. i bought the sistem for movies, and the movies that i watch are in Blu Ray ,with dts audio. Will it play on the logitech or i have to make some modifications or something like that so i get the 5.1 sound. The movies are on my pc, and they are in MKV format.Sound bitrate: 1510kbps.
That depends on what you call exceptionally loud. If you want to use them at a music festival then you have no chance. If your looking for something in a house party then you should be fine!
@MOBbeatsTheProducer You are probably not playing 5.1 audio and only playing stereo sound. To get the stereo sound to work on all the speakers you need to change settings in your sound card.
I have just two jack points for music at my pc, one green and the other one is white and i saw in the video that the sistem has 3 jacks that must be introduced in pc. How i must do?
I do have a soundcard, but this is a soundcard that i primarly use for recording music. Its a m-audio fastrack pro. It says that it can be connected to powered monitors but are these powered? There are many inputs on the back of the soundcard. But anyway: if they cant connect to this soundcard, how will the 2.1 sound be compared to the 5.1?
hi im just about to buy these but im just wondering about the connections you mention black and orange inputs into PC :/ ? and iv had a look at back of computer only seeing pink green and blue inputs is this going to be an issue ? will i need external sound card ?
I have had these speakers, for quite awhile but just got a new pup:( Well he has eat my right wire to the back right rear speaker. But the speakers for the left rear doesn't work now or the front center speaker. Can I tape the wire back up? And the testing picture I use to have has gone????? When I got the speakers I had windows XP then I got new PC with windows 7 ..I still had the same set up picture but now it's different? Can you help me? Thank you for any help you can give me.
@BroknSircut Yeh they really are good! Only half volume in this as didnt want the camera mic to explode hehe! Keep an eye out this time of year too as I have spotted them going really cheap!
Hi, I'm thinking of getting the Logitech X-530 speaker system and i want to connect it to the FAVI RioHD-LED-2 projector for my bedroom theater, and it has 1 x HDMI, 1 x VGA, 1 x Composite A/V, 1 x Component, 1 x S-Video, 1 x headphone/stereo jack, would i be able to connect the Logitech x-530 to it?
Hi, Thanks for answer. But will this sound come from all speakers including sub? 2) does new laptops has adequate sound card to provide 5.1? 3) do for pc is required special sound card for 5.1? 4) about xp and w7 - all ia ok or some problems with these os drivers? Thank!
@cloudbiteuk you know anyways to fix it,i have it plugged in and its not showing the green power light on the small speaker, and it was working fine,is it possible for them to have blown out? or is this a temporary problem, lost my receipt and looking for assistance,
yao dude I just bough that sound system but ! the surround speakers does not play music :(. However, the three other speakers that you've shown are working ! please can you explain for me why? * I already have a sound card supported 5.1,6.1,and 7.1
@WeAreTeamGriz Hiya, that same adapter should work for the tv as long as your tv has phono out (red and white sockets). The only thing is they wouldn't act like a surround sound set of speakers. This means all the speakers should produce sound but say in a movie a noise comes from behind you would hear it in every speaker not just the behind ones. @CloudBiteUK no really now ...whats the music u played in the vid when u test it , thx btw i have a problem 2 of my speakers dont play when i listen to music ?! is it normal i did not have until now a 5.1 sistem thats why im asking thx
@zizooo000ooo Hiya, basically music is encoded as 2.1 sound (i.e stereo) so your speakers are doing actually what they are supposed to. However your soundcard should have a option like mine that pushes the sound through all speakers. So have a look in the software for your sound card. Or on the sound cards forums :)
i just decided myself today and brought these because 1. can be attached to the wall, 2. woofer is bigger, 3. the little speakers has 2-2 speakers 4. is cheaper. The 507 has 3d sound wich is a difference but you cant really hear the difference ..... so just buy these and be happy. !!!!
I'm thinking about buying this system, because it's kinda cheap compared to 2.1 systems. But I'm not completely sure, if I have enough room for them. I'm not sitting in the center of the room, and I've heard that it can disturb some things (like not hearing 100% from all speakers).. So my question is quite simple: Is it possible to use this system, without using all 5 speakers? I'd like to not use the two speakers rear speakers :P
Great review, cheers mate. I was just wondering, is there any way of raising each speakers volume individually, i.e if I had the front left + right speakers a little further away than the centre speaker, could I turn the centre speaker down to compensate?
@DohcterT Hiya, yeh it would be great, I think you might be able to get it to work if you use 3 jack to stereo phono leads but i've not tried it and it depends on the TV really. Basically you jet just 3, 3.5mm jacks with the speakers.
@hippyhauler13 Hiya, You need to make sure your using a 5.1 soundtrack, i.e. on a DVD if your just playing music it will only come out of 2 speakers unless you change settings in your soundcard.
i have a problem with this. All that colors on back of the surround are not working except the red color only that is working. Is this a problem with the settings or on the surround?? PLEASE HELP ME!!
@alexandersunivers91 Arh you wanted to know what music was playing, 2 word comments can be rather confusing. Love etc Beautiful Dub - Pet Shop Boys was playing and yes it is normal 2 speakers won't play as music is made in stereo not surround sound. To play it out of all the speakers you will need to adjust your soundcard settings.
Bought these used for $20 locally. Best $20 I've spent on sound ever.
I have them too!
I just bougth the x-540's for 20$ as well!
Hiya. Yeh you will only be able to have a 2.1 speaker setup which is basically 2 speakers + a subwoofer. In order to get this system working fully you will need a 5.1 soundcard sorry about that.

Thanks for the support, it's cheered me right up :)
dude those sound so good, they sound like you plugged the cable right into your camera to record it
@Kiroau If you are using your PC
Pls check the settings on your system ,If its set to the 2.1 speaker you need to change it to 5.1 surround system.
Best speakers ever in terms of price, reliability and sound quality.
Woo Thanks! Now get over to that speaker box get them out, set them up and blast out your favourite tunes :) Thanks for the great comment :)
You can, but most laptops don't have surround soundcard. You can get an external soundcard that is 5.1 to make all the speakers work with a laptop though.

Hiya, yeh the only speakers you have to use it the front right and left. The others detach easily. Hope this helps.

u need a surround sound card for this right? i got the same model just then. What surround sound card were u using??
Ok cheers. Now I'm stuck between this and the logitech Z 507 5.1 speaker system....
Where do you plug the black and orange cables? because my pc only has green but it has a 5.1 sound card? thanks
@BroknSircut Yeh they really are good! Only half volume in this as didnt want the camera mic to explode hehe! Keep an eye out this time of year too as I have spotted them going really cheap!
Ohh, if i change my sound card i will have more jacks?
What sound card do you recomand me? Is good enough a Creative Sound Blaster 7.1?
do you need a sound card for the surround sound or can you just use your mother board ??
I can't use my 5.1 set to my new tv? Is it possible
How are you supposed to place the subwoofer? (where does the sound come from)
I've read that I can plug the black and orange jacks into the blue line in and pink mic ports and that it would work properly is that correct?
Hi,
Thanks for answer.
But will this sound come from all speakers including sub?
2) does new laptops has adequate sound card to provide 5.1?
3) do for pc is required special sound card for 5.1?
4) about xp and w7 - all ia ok or some problems with these os drivers?
Thank!
how good the bass is? distortion much? or clean?
@cloudbiteuk you know anyways to fix it,i have it plugged in and its not showing the green power light on the small speaker, and it was working fine,is it possible for them to have blown out? or is this a temporary problem, lost my receipt and looking for assistance,
Hello, i have a PS3 and this surround sound ststem was bought for me. How do I connect it up- do i use AV sound wires or? Thanks
i have this one , but can you also put it in your tv ? and HOW?
yao dude I just bough that sound system but ! the surround speakers does not play music :(. However, the three other speakers that you've shown are working !
please can you explain for me why?
* I already have a sound card supported 5.1,6.1,and 7.1

Are these speakers able to connect to my tv?
as i want them to play sound why im playing my xbox360?
and this speakers, for gaming are a good idea?
@CloudBiteUK no really now ...whats the music u played in the vid when u test it , thx btw i have a problem 2 of my speakers dont play when i listen to music ?! is it normal i did not have until now a 5.1 sistem thats why im asking thx

@CloudBiteUK do you know of an adapter to make the sound come out of all of the speakers?
do you know why my rear left&right and center front doesnt work?
@xStalkerxx No problem. Yeh Not a clue why they have hidden it there it can be rather annoying to be honest.
can you use any 5.1 sound card, i have a hp laptop and it only has one audio jack~?
I'm thinking about buying this system, because it's kinda cheap compared to 2.1 systems. But I'm not completely sure, if I have enough room for them. I'm not sitting in the center of the room, and I've heard that it can disturb some things (like not hearing 100% from all speakers)..

will these work with my TV also is there a console adapter on amazon UK? i cant find one
@CloudBiteUK Thanks, I'll have a look around!
Great review, cheers mate.
I was just wondering, is there any way of raising each speakers volume individually, i.e if I had the front left + right speakers a little further away than the centre speaker, could I turn the centre speaker down to compensate?
yes u can pal in the settings of ur pc
Im not sure if my pc has the right soundcard for this, I have an alienware aurora..
How would i use this speaker system just to listen to my ipod? plz help thank you
@DohcterT Hiya, yeh it would be great, I think you might be able to get it to work if you use 3 jack to stereo phono leads but i've not tried it and it depends on the TV really. Basically you jet just 3, 3.5mm jacks with the speakers.
hi again i couldn't get the adapter today but will it run 2.1 just on the green input into the pc ?
just like normal pc speakers ?
Can you hook these to a xbox 360 and still be in 5.1 and not just stereo?
@StormzReviewz Hiya I'm not sure what you mean they wont work after you have played them??
Can't u use a 3 way splitter to connect them to your laptop?
hey actually i just want to use through the aux kind of wire that is to play music on phone how to i connect the adapter
What is the length of the cable for the master speaker?
@alexandersunivers91 Arh you wanted to know what music was playing, 2 word comments can be rather confusing. Love etc Beautiful Dub - Pet Shop Boys was playing and yes it is normal 2 speakers won't play as music is made in stereo not surround sound. To play it out of all the speakers you will need to adjust your soundcard settings.
