Man thank you for the accurate and relevant information on this one. They were SO CLOSE to having an Eclipse killer. Its such a good looking guitar! The neck and the frets are the hang ups for me. If the Fesley would get the jumbo ball end frets and slim the neck it would be fantastic However, the Leo Jaymes (sp) Tempest...its my new favorite! A slight set up, swapped to locking tuners and WOW! Even the pickups are excellent. That guitar is the best bang for the buck I have experienced!! All in all the budget guitars are getting better and better!!
Oi! Lad. Great review and the tune you wrote was on point brother , there was one part of the song that I could have sworn I heard The Scorpions . Awesome tune though. thanks
It's amazing to me how you make ANY guitar sound incredible. Kudos to your awesome guitar skills. A real pro. Thanks for reviewing this guitar. I learned that the frets are small, the bridge is backwards and the pickups are not active. Very important details ill say. Keep up the good content!👍🤘
Awesome Vid. Think you convinced me to buy it. The Bridge thing though. My LP copies all have em with the screws facing the Pickups. My Gibson LP has it the opposite way. I've flipped the bridge on a Westcreek to give the Saddles more room for intonation. So, I'm pretty sure that the direction of the bridge doesn't matter as long as you have saddle room for intonation. Again, Great Vid. Oh, did you see the Fojill FSG-60? Looks pretty COOL too.
Thanks for confirming the correct direction of the Tune-O-Matic bridge. I have an Ibanez LP-style guitar, and the bridge fell off the first time I changed the strings. Since I hadn't really paid attention to which direction it was going beforehand, I wasn't sure how it should go. So I searched for images of my guitar model to see how it should go and ... it was about a 50/50 split in the photos I found. So I wasn't sure if the factory was installing them inconsistently, or if all these other players had the same issue I had of just not knowing which way to put it back after falling off. I eventually just looked at LPs on the Gibson site to see how they do it.
It's like, "I just wrote and recorded a new jam for this guitar that's coming out next week " Yeah, you're amazing! Talented player/jam writer/guitar builder - you do it all. Awesome.
Another excellent review. One of the reasons, if not the main reason, for not pulling the trigger on a lot of the guitars you review is the lack of jumbo frets. For me, that is a must. That is one of the reasons (not the only one!) I am looking forward to your model!
I had some $ left on an Amazon gift card, so I just ordered one to mess around with in the Tobacco Sunburst color. I'll re-fret with some 6100 wire - and if there's room under the truss rod, scrape down the neck to a more modern-ish C shape. I'll check back in when done.
As always, you managed to make this sound great Richard. I feel like Fesley needs to go back and take another look at their quality control. They have been pretty good up to this point. As you know, I am still in the market for an LP style guitar. Unfortunately, this is not the one. Thanks for sharing and keep on shredding!
I dig the song. Here's some lyrics for it: "There's no one like Fesley Guitars, They ain't no Elvis Presley Guitars, I can imagine the things to be played With two buckers in that array..."
🎵🎸🎶🎸🎵🎸🎶🎸🎵🎸🎶🎸 There's No One Like You Man! Super helpful review and awesome as always jam. As I was watching, I thought:"Man, I am really digging the matte finish on this one... then BOOM! Dammit, I realy love te looks of this guitar! All the flaws you mentioned could have been avoided at the factory but the lack of jumbo frets killed it for me... 😎
There's no right or wrong way a tune o matic bridge faces. They are designed to be turned either way to accommodate for intonation adjustments with the saddles. Another way to do that if you want your adjustment screws facing a certain direction is to take the individual saddles out and flip them the other way.
Have you ever tried any of the US or JP Wolfgang models with the vintage stainless steel frets? I've played jumbo in most cases since the 80s but love the vintage SS. If you haven't ever played one give it a try if you get a chance! Great review on this budget Eclipse!
I scalloped a Firefly just for the learning experience of modding and now it's my go to guitar ,,, with a Seymour added....this looks like another candidate..... thanks!
Thanks for this review, Richard. Now, about those frets. I'm rather fret agnostic, probably because I started playing in the late 1970s when fret wire size wasn't even a thing. I would imagine that I grew up playing what we'd call medium sized frets these days. I didn't really take note of the size of a guitar's frets until I got my first Schecter (of two). Schecter used the REALLY extra jumbo fret wire on BOTH those axes. Huge! Loved the way they played, though; I DID buy them! I find that I really care rather little about things that many guitarists obsess about. After a long bout of owning and playing nothing but fretboards with flat radii, I started thinking that I might NEED the flatness. Imagine my surprise when I found comfortable and playable my two (still) new Donner DST-400s with their 9.5 inch radius, which is what I call Fender's "modern traditional" radius. (Their older 7.25 inch radius I call "classic" or "vintage.") While I'm still a bit leery of the classic radius, I find the Donner radius better than tolerable even while I also detect a bit more effort needed to stretch strings. And now that I've mentioned classic, vintage and modern, please allow me to say that I'm more into the modern stuff. That's why Fender, Gibson and PRS are unlikely to sell me anything, and that goes double for Heritage. I love what all these companies do, but they hew more to the traditional, while I dance to the beat of a more lively drummer. Thankfully for Fender, they have Jackson (I got one of those!) and Charvel, so they remain on my radar. Gibson has Kramer, but Kramer hasn't really grabbed me since they were still doing the godawful heavy-ass aluminum-necked monstrosities they tried to sell back in the day. All that said and done, though, it remains all about the quality of the match between the player's needs and the guitar's features and resources. In other words: If it feels, sounds and plays good, it IS good!
Well said. Obviously not everyone loves jumbo frets. That's why we have options. Some love fat necks with small frets, and some the opposite. But since they were copying the ESP Eclipse with this model, it should have jumbo frets.
Definitely has a cool ESP look , I like it. I saw Shawn from Scar my guitar demo this in his Livestream over the weekend and his wife got a pink one 😂 , he wasn't happy! Also I think his had a few issues? PS these definitely seem to be inconsistent compared to their other style ones 🤔
I was about to mention Sean’s impressions of the Pink one he got on the live stream. He immediately noticed it wasn’t grounded, so there’s a huge microphonic issue. I don’t think he was thrilled with the pickups. I’m looking forward to his review to see what else he finds. I wonder if Sean also found some of the same issues as Baldie over here once he was able to take a closer look off camera. It’s hugely surprising given that the other Fesley models seemed really fantastic.
@@MashaT22 Yeah that's one of the biggest problems with cheap/budget guitars , it's hit or miss and the consistency isn't there. So unless you know how to fix the issues they probably wouldn't be good for a beginner. I buy the budget one's mainly to use as platforms for modding out , but I've also got some higher end guitars. I probably wouldn't buy this LP though....

Great review! I almost pulled the trigger on one of these when they had the $40 off coupon but something just didn’t feel right. I would have felt a bit sketchy about my purchase right out of the box so to speak if I had a gap in the neck like yours. I wouldn’t help but wonder ok where else did they cut corners or looked the other way when building this guitar. You made it sound fantastic however and I’m sure if they want to cut into the market they will improve on their quality. Nice homage to the Scorpions in you jam btw! 👍🏼👍🏼😃
This would have been much better with an ebony fretboard. If they’d change that, and frets, this would be a great candidate for a complete electronics upgrade (active pups, and switchgear).
The headline FESLEY is spelled wrong... fix it. He is a real pro player, so listen to him talk about '4-bolt neck' versus set neck designs in the cheap price range...
So there's a "backwards" with a Tune-o-Matic bridge? Because looking at it, you have three saddles which "face" one direction, three which "face" the opposite direction, and if you rotate it 180 degrees, they're still facing the same direction. Obviously, if the saddles are notched (not all are), that could be a huge issue but I actually think it's smarter (and easier to adjust) if the screws are on the bottom facing the tail piece.
I hate jumbo frets. If this guitar has regular frets it makes me want it more. I need to hear the pickups more without distortion or drive. In one or two videos they sounded too dark.
Hey, you wrote a Scorpions song lol. Yeah, copy an ESP and get the most important part wrong. I have an LTD Viper 256, and like the EC 256 it has a set neck and is one of the best playing necks I own. Better than my more expensive guitars.
Hmm 🤔 this is the second review of this Fezely guitar. The first review none of these issues were mentioned and you didn't give an opinion on the guitar. This brand is hit or miss with quality control
