Adjusted mine so the bottom jaw hangs almost straight down. Had to cut the rounded ears off above the adjustment holes. What a difference!!!!! Once in a blue moon I may have to get off to undo a vine which is absolutely no big deal. One of the best tools I've ever owned. Thanks for the video
I've been having that issue, but have been pretty scared to try that, for resale value, among other reasons. Also, it seems to me that those barbs (I guess you'd call them?) aren't always the culprit, but sometimes the brush gets intertwined with the teeth (above one, under the next, etc.), even to the point of giving the BC "lock jaw" (the bottom jaw won't drop at all). Have you had that type of issue, either before or after your modification? Also, has the issue you addressed continued to be solved, or does it still happen at times? And did you end up taking out the top middle teeth after all (and if so, did it help)? Thanks for your post -- misery loving company as it does, it was good to see that others have had this issue too, and to get a possible solution!
Never gets caught now. I left all of the teeth in. Have you dropped your lower jaws to the lowest level? I have another video on that. The brush will fall off much better.
@@markellyfarm yes, lowest level, but I'm trying to drop it into a tall brush pile, so the bottom teeth are still almost parallel to the ground. Interesting solution you came up with. Perhaps I'll develop the testicular fortitude to do that someday too - lol. However, I'm also tempted to sell the BC, run hoses from my rear remotes, and buy a hydraulic grapple. But if I do the former, I may never be able to do the latter someday. So hard to decide! Still, good info you provided -- thanks!
I thought mine were all the way down but the holes are deceiving. I found they do go lower. And because they are on a square pattern you may be able to rotate them around into a different configuration. I do recommend cutting those serrations off. If you do it cleanly and repaint nobody would know you made a modification.

I don't have the inner teeth but I have the same problem. Wish I hadn't bought mine. If you're considering it, save your money and buy a real grapple.

Just zip tie pex tubing with a slot over the teeth this way you dont have to damage your equipment
1.25 inch black flex would work as well. Another solution would be to bolt a plate to the side of toothed grapple with the same curve but no teeth.

I THINK I like a tractor root rake a lot better than that thing.
