This CSGO Skin Might Get Taken Out Next...

In this video I wanted to do a little follow up to what happened with the Doodle Lore as well as discuss the implications of its removal. I also did a little digging myself and uncovered something rather interesting... An Update: TR3x3r reached out to me on Twitter and informed me he thinks that use of SVG's from websites such as the one talked about in the video is ok. As long as the contributor has bought the rights to the SVG in question. Same case with fonts as well. So I would guess the next step would be for the website hosting the image to verify that Jimmba actually payed for the image either internally or by reaching out to Valve.

I think Jimmba didn't know enough about the copyright system in the workshop so he just kept referring to artwork to make skins and improve himself. At the end he stepped too far and this happened.
Or he thought that valve would only Take his artwork down if it had the original image and not an adaptation because the howl and other past skins were seemingly 1 to 1 copies.
Or he knew it all along.
Would like to know their side of the story.

Looking closer at the monkeyflage, Jimmba's version seems to be a lazy rip-off of the original art (from the colors, the dotting of the veins, the red backdrop on certain leaves). While he "remade" the background in the exact style as the original, he couldn't bother to use that same art style on the monkeys (I wouldn't be suprised if they were another asset too). It's a shame that most of Jimmba's work lacks original content. It would be cool to see more space/astronaut themed skins.
I think Valve has made it very clear that workshop content should be original, yet they don't bother to actually enforce this until they get hit with a DMCA. Even if these users get banned TheDanidem said that it doesn't stop people from making new accounts (I believe he said on ohnepixel's stream). Maybe Valve add some sort of identification requirement to have art added to the game, or at least increase the requirements to submit skins to the workshop.

I know from personal experience when you sign up, you have to submit a tax document that has your social security #. So I would think they could use that to check if it's the same person on another account, but apparently not.
