Omg, are we living the same life. I'm 50 and lost a bunch of weight last year. I was 185 and got down to 155. Then the loss just stopped and I went on a 3 week vacation and put a bunch of weight on the cruise. I am also in the middle of moving myself and a cat. I am also a goth with blue hair. Hello to my twin. lol

Good luck sweetie, I know you can do it, and I appreciate you letting us know what you are doing towards your goal. I have hypothyroidism, so I’m having to change my diet for that along with needing to lose weight. I’m also gluten intolerant. My dr just told me that I have slightly elevated sugar and cholesterol. So now I have to change my diet Even more 😮. I can’t have any grains at all, no fried food, and only low sugar fruits like blackberries, raspberries, and blueberries. So I am feeling overwhelmed, and will just follow along with you, and see how we both do on our weight loss; and for myself; health reclamation. Take care sweetie 💜🦇

Awww thank you so much 💜 I actually don't have much of a skin care routine, I cleanse my face with witch Hazel and only use a face cleanser maybe once a month or when I need to remove stubborn makeup, And I just use whichever random moisturizers I've gotten in subscription boxes, And lately I've started using castor oil before bed because of some dry skin 😅

Good luck with everything! Those meals look really good, that yogurt is delicious! About 3 years ago, I bought a Blend Jet and started making protein shakes. I really love 310 Nutrition, their shakes are a total meal. You get all your vitamins, and protein in a shake. I ended up losing weight doing this, I'm not sure how much exactly. Tons of my old clothes don't fit anymore. The shakes are really good, you can add fruit and make them however you like. Kachava was okay, they are super expensive. I also really liked a brand called, Happy Viking. I feel like you about food... Omg I am obsessed with pizza!! 😅 I switched to thin crust. I still eat pizza, mostly on the weekend. I can't help it. 😂😅 Good luck on your own weight loss journey!! 😃💜🦇💜

Hey Rachel! Best of luck to you. Starting late in terms of age or weight gain might seem like a waste of effort, but it's absolutely not! I didn't have mental capacity and focus and willpower to sort myself out before I balooned over 100 kilos (107.4 kg/236 lbs to be exact). Last summer I felt heart burn and a shortness of breath. Now I am 29 y.o. down 31 kg/69 lbs from my heaviest, already in almost healthy range, no heartburn and signs of early heart attack in sight anymore. This May I feel the most fresh and strong and healthy since before the pandemic. And the hair, and the nails, and the skin, they were all worth the sacrifice of a bit of beer and snacks here and there.
If you take any culinary advice, this is what I figured this last year:
    1. Since I don't drink coffee with no milk and had issues with excessive calories from dairy AND late night/early morning cortisol spike, I started drinking only one or two cups every other day and went for multiple teas as a hot drink of choice. Teas have caffeine too, though in lower dosages, and if you develop taste for those, your world will become full of options
    2. Highly recommend eating at least 2 meals a day with a source of bioavailable protein (meaning that if you don't have great relationship with legumes or mushrooms, animal source or powder might be best) early in the evening, even if you go to bed after midnight having a bit of turkey breast and lettuce should last you a night without growling stomach, but I guess you figured as much ;)
    3. Fast meals. My go to choice as a lazy cook never having time to prep before I'm starving are steak salads, if you have grill or grill-like skillet and if you can afford some lean meat, you're going t be supplied with fresh yummy meat. Or sometimes you can go for not too salty and fatty deli meats, or many eggs and eggwhites to go with greens, like that salad
    4. Baking stuff. I personally swap flour at least a half of it for whey powder in my baking, or get fibery and protein-rich crop like buckwheat (then again, I'm from Eastern Europe, you probably won't find it available around). Helps to meet gymgirl nutrient requirements if I make some apple pie or pancakes/blini/blintzes.
    5. Home pizza on thin base is the best pizza, just switching out extra cheese and grease for more fresh or pickled veggies and salami for leaner deli meat might be a game-changer calorie-wise while providing a nice flavorful treat.
    6. Greek yoghurt is great. Try mixing it or kefir + mustard/garlic/herbs/balsamic/soy sauce to swap your mayo out for a better dressing of choice. Only mustard and dairy need counting calories for those, because herbs have value in single digits and balsamic and soy sause you need but a few drops
    7. Low (5%) or medium-fat (9%) cottage cheese is a great choice nutrient-wise and combines well both with veggies and berries and fruit, though you might find the weightloss in the following day or two lacking because cottage cheese promotes moisture retention along alchohol, processed carbs and salt.

Thank you so much for all the tips! I actually love tea but I also like to put milk in that 😂 I can just drink more green teas because I don't put milk in those, I love mushrooms and cottage cheese so those will be easy to add.. also, congratulations on your own health journey!💜💜💜

Losing weight has been my life struggle. Getting older sucks and it makes it way harder to lose weight because of it. I’m currently doing 1200 calories a day and try to walk between 5k-10k steps. Also I’m doing keto. Eating carbs really messes me up. I tried eating 1200 with carbs and I lose no weight at all. I wish you luck. Sometimes I just wanna give up and say this is how big I’m meant to be. It’s very hard to stay on track for me.

Thank you 💜 1200 calories is rough, I don't know if I could stick to that 😅 sometimes the 1500 calories seems too little.. but I need to learn it's okay to be a little bit hungry sometimes, I don't always have to feel full, and I absolutely hate exercise, I was walking for a while but I just gotten so bored of it 😭 once I get moved in I have to dance poles set up and a couple of dance pole exercise routine DVDs and I'm hoping that'll be more fun

Good for you, you got this ! At the end of 2021 I decided I wanted to lose 30 lbs before turning 50 and I reached my goal and have maintained my weight (I'll be turning 50 in a few months😊) . Slow and steady is always best, and don't get discouraged if you plateau. Also don't think of it as a diet, think of it as a lifestyle change, it's easier when you don't restrict unless it's something that will make you binge in which case I think it's better to avoid. Also remember to add not subtract, so let's say you're craving a piece of cake just eat some yogurt or fruits first and then eat a small piece of cake that way you still enjoy those guilty little pleasures without jeopardizing your progress 😉

We’re here to support you whenever you need us. You can ask me anything at anytime and I’ll give you any advice if I have it to give. Like I said I’ve lost 60 pounds by calorie counting. I need to exercise more. If i would i would lose more weight. If you have any questions about anything that has to do with weight lose I might be able to help you plus give you encouragement when you feel like it’s not going anywhere because you will have a time when you won’t lose anything because you’ve hit that place where you have to change something to keep losing. We all have that certain place that we have to get over to keep losing. I went through a 2 week no weight loss because I was doing the same things all the time and I had to change what I was doing to continue my loss. We all know you can do it. For me it was more willpower than anything. I was very addicted to sugar and I would eat candy every night and because of that I gained 75 pounds in a year and I was starting to get high blood pressure and my cholesterol was also getting high. Now everything is back to normal. I wish you loads of luck and I can’t wait to watch your journey. It will also give me more motivation to keep going.

According to my fitness pal, 1 piece of bacon is around 40 calories depending on the brand and a teaspoon of bacon grease is around 35. I was curious and had to check that out too. So I’m guessing you have your count the grease separately. I’m still confused on that.
