Oh thank you! This sounds great! I had a first grader this year and we did math and language arts only. For second grade I think we will try this and do math and history one day and language arts and science the next day. I could dedicate fridays to working with my 3 year old.
Hey Nikki! Love your videos 😊 I’m curious how you get through your Horizons with only doing 4 lessons a week. I love Horizons but the biggest downfall is there is a whole lot of schedule wiggle room because of the amount of lessons and tests. We don’t do tests and lessons on one day like they suggest. Do you just not worry about completing the curriculum? Or does it work out okay if you homeschool year around? My son will be in Horizons 5 and he loves it but the older he gets the more I want him to complete his curriculum so there are no gaps. Thanks!
Honestly this is a great question! And it took me a couple years using this curriculum to figure this out 😂 1) we don’t worry abo it finishing the entire thing. My boys get about 80% through & they’re ready to move on to the next level. 2) I do some skipping. As you know there are sometimes lines & lines of problems for repetition purposes. If within their 2 lessons per day I feel like there is TOO much repetition for them - I will often mark some off. They don’t need to do 50 triple digit addition problems if I know they’ve mastered it 👏🏻 a few then they can move on to the next part. On Wednesday I have a video coming where I show you EXACTLY what they finish within a day’s homeschool work for our block schedule. I think it’ll help a ton in giving some reference in to how much they get done.
Oh and also, this will be our first year homeschooling year round + through the summer. So I think that will definitely help us get through more of it ☺️
