  • Comparing the Gen 1 and Gen 5 Bakial Makarov. I believe the Gen 5 to be a more realistic pistol to the actual fire arm

    I have a gen 1,2 and 5, the 1 and 2 are twice as powerful as the 5 due to the breech on the 1 and 2 having a "claw" that pulls the magazine onto the breech face. The 1 and 2 have a breech seal, the 5 doesnt and has a breech/magazine gap of 1.2mm allowing a lot of the co2 to escape.
    The best by far is a Gen1 with bakelite grips.
    Just my opinion

    I do not like the fact that they cut the frame for the gen5 it weakens the grip if you squeeze hard enough the metal grips bend in slightly .

    i used to sell long extended smooth barrell and power kits of all sorts for these and used to own one , lost them all as hobby went to a different direction. Neverthless excellent little gun no co2 comes close to the quality of these. Gen 5 is indeed made from the real damn thing it is confirmed by russians themselves

    It is incorrect to say that only gen 5 had ejector port cutouts. I have a gen 1 that has an ejector cut out. And I know at least one other gen 1 owned by a local dealer which also had the ejector cut out. They must have been different batches. Both are T99.

    Real nice. Too bad you don't have the new generation 6 that's being sold here in Canada. Canadashootingsupply has black and silver models. They also got 46M and a few other models of Russian airguns. Been trying for years but he finally somehow got a shipment in. He ships to the USA. Canadian government is passing a new bill against airguns. We can keep what we have but once it's fully passed no more sales.

      @mrtrek64  3 года назад

      Holy shit!!! You're telling me it will be against the law to sell and own bb/pellet gus in Canada soon? That is crazy!!!! Are you sure this law will pass? Is this the will of the people of Canada? Thanks..I'll take a look at the Gen six. Is that the one which has blowback?

    • @James-ke5sx
      @James-ke5sx 3 года назад

      @@mrtrek64 I'm not sure about blowback cause all other generations don't have it. We will be able to keep what we have but no more buying/selling. Airsoft ranges will close. If we move we won't be able to transport airguns and will have to turn them over to the cops. The law is under opposition so we will wait and see. If you are in the USA better check about importing the Makarov. Last I heard it was illegal to import because there is a rumor it can be converted to the real firearm. Which is BS. I did my Christmas shopping early. This only applies to replica guns. 10 meter competition etc are ok. World is going insane with the pandemic. Violence is increasing. My neighbor beat his girlfriend to death because they lost their jobs, car repossessed and fighting over money.

    • @mrtrek64
      @mrtrek64  3 года назад

      @@James-ke5sx My God I'm sorry to hear all of this. But the lawmakers in their wisdom believe outlawing bb guns is the answer, and putting even more people out of work by closing airsoft ranges and stores. Stupidest thing I've ever heard.
      Here in the U.S., thank to Trump a new customs law was passed. ANY package entering the U.S must have a sticker on the box indicating its contents. If the machine finds there is an airsoft or bb gun in the package it gets pulled. Even though it's 100 percent legal. So now the Government doesn't need a warrant to see the contents of your box or a deep x-ray. The contents are right there on the lable. And if a seller gets caught lying there is a stiff penelty.
      Thank goodness I have 7 in my collection so I'm good. But if I try to purchase the Mak it was get pulled for sure. The others made it through because customs really don't know what a mak is. To them, it just looks like another bb gun, unless the agent really knows thier stuff.
      But back to this new Canadian law, I really wish you guys luck that it gets squashed because I don't believe for a second this is what the people want, BB and Airsoft guns being a problem in Canada in regards to violence! It's laughable if it weren't so pathetically sad. I'll be reading about it.

    Hello. Thank you for you video. Your generation 4 has a higher serial number than the gen 5. (First two numbers) - what do you think? Also - I'm thinking of getting one - but the cut in the frame (magazine port) on the gen5 puts me off. You don't seem to mind? Thanks

    • @mrtrek64
      @mrtrek64  7 лет назад +3

      I think the reason for the Gen 5 having an earlier date stamped on it is because the gen 5 are made from decommissioned pistols which were then converted to CO2 guns. So the Gen 5 pieces can all have a history attached to them where they once belonged to an officer or soldier at one time, which accounts for the earlier dates. When you receive a Gen 5 pistol, it's not a shiny new item. It has scratches all over the body and Bakelite grip. So these are recycled for sure, which i think is cool.
      I'm not an expert, but my opinion is the Gen 5 is the only Generation created in this manner; from actual recycled pistols. All the other Generations are indeed made in the Bakial factory like the Gen five is. But I don't believe they are from recycled pistols. I believe they are manufactured as CO2 guns from the start, and not recycled in any way, not even the Gen 1 which I own 2 of and is the most sought after by collectors. The fram is a bit of a put off, but it's not a deal breaker. For me...I think the Gen 5 is the best of all the Generations. but the Gen 1's are worth more.
      That's my opinion anyway :)

    • @SquirrelDarling1
      @SquirrelDarling1 5 лет назад

      mrtrek64 the only part that is the actual firearm is the frames I believe. The slides, barrels, and magazines are manufactured as/for CO2 bb use. The slides are not firearm slides that have been converted but made specifically for the bb pistols. So I’ve been told. I’ve also been told you could buy the barrel, slide, and magazines on eBay and turn the airgun into a firearm with minimal problems, but the bb pistol is actually worth more left as an airgun. And the extractor cut out is just that-a cut out for looks, like the barrels being counter sunk to appear as a 9mm.

    • @mrtrek64
      @mrtrek64  4 года назад

      @@SquirrelDarling1 Thank you for all that information. The more I learn about these pistols the better. I was told by another collector the slides were collected from actual pistols for the Gen 5. But I'm sure you're information is correct. But one thing is certain for sure. These are by far the best made, highly sought after, collectible pistols there are. Even now I'm having a difficult time getting my hands on another Gen 5. Right now my collection consists of:
      3- Gen 5's
      2-Gen 4's
      2-Gen 1's
      I still can't find the gen 2 and 3 which are very elusive. At the time I acquired these Co2 guns I was getting very lucky. now...not so much.

      @@williamthegunnut3839 Good you shouldn't have any issues then. Here in the states all the customs laws have changed during the past 3 years.. Every box entering the US now must have a customs sticker on the front. When this sticker is scanned it will reveal all the contents of the box. So now Customs doesn't have to x-ray or do anything. If the machine picks up there is a bb gun in the parcel it will get pull and inspected. Even though they are legal, chances are way higher now that it won't make it through. In other words...the party is over.
