Hello. Thank you for you video. Your generation 4 has a higher serial number than the gen 5. (First two numbers) - what do you think? Also - I'm thinking of getting one - but the cut in the frame (magazine port) on the gen5 puts me off. You don't seem to mind? Thanks
I think the reason for the Gen 5 having an earlier date stamped on it is because the gen 5 are made from decommissioned pistols which were then converted to CO2 guns. So the Gen 5 pieces can all have a history attached to them where they once belonged to an officer or soldier at one time, which accounts for the earlier dates. When you receive a Gen 5 pistol, it's not a shiny new item. It has scratches all over the body and Bakelite grip. So these are recycled for sure, which i think is cool. I'm not an expert, but my opinion is the Gen 5 is the only Generation created in this manner; from actual recycled pistols. All the other Generations are indeed made in the Bakial factory like the Gen five is. But I don't believe they are from recycled pistols. I believe they are manufactured as CO2 guns from the start, and not recycled in any way, not even the Gen 1 which I own 2 of and is the most sought after by collectors. The fram is a bit of a put off, but it's not a deal breaker. For me...I think the Gen 5 is the best of all the Generations. but the Gen 1's are worth more. That's my opinion anyway :)
mrtrek64 the only part that is the actual firearm is the frames I believe. The slides, barrels, and magazines are manufactured as/for CO2 bb use. The slides are not firearm slides that have been converted but made specifically for the bb pistols. So I’ve been told. I’ve also been told you could buy the barrel, slide, and magazines on eBay and turn the airgun into a firearm with minimal problems, but the bb pistol is actually worth more left as an airgun. And the extractor cut out is just that-a cut out for looks, like the barrels being counter sunk to appear as a 9mm.
@@SquirrelDarling1 Thank you for all that information. The more I learn about these pistols the better. I was told by another collector the slides were collected from actual pistols for the Gen 5. But I'm sure you're information is correct. But one thing is certain for sure. These are by far the best made, highly sought after, collectible pistols there are. Even now I'm having a difficult time getting my hands on another Gen 5. Right now my collection consists of: 3- Gen 5's 2-Gen 4's 2-Gen 1's I still can't find the gen 2 and 3 which are very elusive.
