- Rangasthalam, directed by Sukumar, has not only shocked the audiences and critics, but also proved that there is a lot more than what meets the eye. It is the biggest hit, so far, in Sukumar and Ram Charan's respective careers, and the film earned rave reviews for its writing, cinematography, performances, music, production design, and directing.
14 years ago, when Sukumar made his directorial debut with Arya, he became one of the most sought after directors in Telugu cinema; however, since then, his films have polarised the audiences. Some of his recent films like 1-Nenokkadine and Nannaku Prematho evoked intense reactions from the fans of Mahesh Babu and NTR respectively. Perhaps, it is no exaggeration that the success of Rangasthalam has forced everyone to look at Sukumar from a different perspective altogether.
In an exclusive interview with Film Companion, filmmaker Sukumar opens up about the writing procces and making of Rangasthalam.

Please add subtitles or ask the questions in English. The rest of the world who follow the southern industry are missing a lot because of that.
This is the only channel where we can find the interview in english and we are missing the opportunity to learn. Atleast provide subtitles if the guest is not comfortable in doing full interview in english

Sukumar is a gift to TFI but the industry didnt hyped him as other industries. Still he will reach to international level with pushpa.All the best

1 Nenokkadine is the superb movie, Sukumar's 1nenokkadine and Trivikram's Kaleja might be not much up to the mark as per collections or something else but these 2 movies are superb movies and most people have liked it too and these would be in their best movies list.

I really loved one. Felt that was a brilliant movie. I do feel like I'm hijacking the rangasthalam topic with this but man, when one was out, my mind was blown. To think that sukumar thinks he has failed Mahesh, makes one question their own choices. When the creator himself feels he has not done justice, I'm like how? What else could he have done? That interval block had the best scene. Period.

Sreekar Reddy every movie has its flaws. When I watched the movie and walked out, felt like I had seen something I had never seen in a Telugu movie.
madhu sudhan The story is very simple but the screenplay is unnecessarily complicated.
Sreekar Reddy what do you mean by 'unnecessarily' complicated? I didn't find it complicated at all.... Did you watch Nolan's Memento.... That movie has the simplest revenge story of a hero who kills the villain who kills his lover and makes the hero temorarily lose his money.... But this simple story was narrated in the most complicated manner by slicing the movie into parts and playing them forward and backward.... This complicated narration is what made the movie so enjoyable and such a memorable masterpiece.... 1 nenokkadine had a relatively straightforward storyline - the only twisted thing which made it interesting being heros hallucination.... Isn't that not a welcome change from the boring formulaic movies we end up making blockbusters like Srimanthudu? The interval block, the music which keeps haunting him which ultimately forms the clue to find his parents, the rubix cube, the twist of Nasser and the emotional climax.... Is nabhuto nabhavishyat in Telugu films.... Yes the only issue is that for a thriller it was pretty long and some of the chase were dragged, but unlike some of our Trivikram films which are claimed to be classics, there is not one forced comedy scene or unnecessary scene unrelated to the main story.... The films failure remains one of the biggest mysteries in TFI

And why does Nassar wait so long for mahesh to solve the Rubik’s cube? He couldv’e solved it on his own?
I’m guessing the movie flopped because it had it’s share of flaws( overall movie is really good)
When you’re trying do something new, each and everything thing has to be right. And they didn’t market the movie the right way.

Hemanth should stop asking whether particular aspects/scenes in the film are intentional. Directors are not dumb to put scenes/characters without giving thought to them.

see 1 was really great film...there is something i would like to share about this film ... iam big fan of pawankalyan at that time my age was around 14 maybe so you know a fandom kind of war between PK and MB fans...but when the teasers released before the trailer as a PK fan i dont know how many times watched that 2 teasers the bgm ..and the shot where MB picks up the baseball bat and the shot where he jumps over a car and shooting in the air those two shots man...wow the camera quality and the intense bgm i never forget ....and they released the film with yevadu .....so tbh i went nenokkadine i strongly want this film to be failed i prayed yevadu to be hit unfortunately the same happened on that day ...on its first day the entire theater is empty iam very happy that movie got failed but when started watching the film i was stunned and I really felt the intense moments and interval scene its really made me to claps but i controlled it as i dont want to be recognised as MB fan and after completion of movie i was amazed and and u guys do u know what i did the next day ?? i started spreading negative review for this film even though i loved it to the core just to save yevadu movie which is going to be released 2 days after nenokkadine release? i watched yevadu ok i forcely made myself to like this film ....😂😂😂...after few years when i got some maturity and became a cinephile i felt very chilidish 😂😂😂
