DEAF MUSIC: Shine Your Light (NDP 2023 Theme Song) (ENG SUBS)

Hi, everyone!
I'm thrilled to share the video, which I made for better Deaf music accessibility, appreciation and inclusivity, especially for deaf individuals in Singapore.
This year's catchy NDP theme song is really inspirational. So I decided not to express the literal interpretation of the whole song, and I took up this opportunity to sign the song in a Deaf way.
As a Deaf arts & music practitioner, I hope this video can inspire the Deaf community to "courageously go forth and "shine (their) light upon the world". Music needs many voices as a song, but also it needs face, hands, and body, which are of our Singapore Sign Language. It could be our visual treat, too!
Music is a universal language that knows no limits.
Not forgetting accessibility and inclusivity for the Deaf, we have our eyes to appreciate music in another way. Some parameters of music, such as rhythm, dynamics, timbre & texture can be seen & felt on the face and body, together with sign language. If time allows, they can be achieved.
However, let's enjoy the video. Also, please share it with your family, colleagues and friends to support the Deaf. 🤟🎶

NOTE: Singapore Sign Language (unofficial) is different from Deaf music (reframed from Song-Signing). Deaf music is the artistry of sign language and music. It incorporates its invented, improvised signs and body expressions & movements. It interprets its whole message in other styles to bring deaf awareness to the public.

ABOUT SINGAPORE SIGN LANGUAGE (Updated as of 2020)
Singapore Sign Language (SgSL) is Singapore’s native sign language that has developed over the last 6 decades since the setting up of the first school for the Deaf in 1954. It is influenced by Shanghainese Sign Language (SSL), American Sign Language (ASL), Signing Exact English II (SEE2) and locally developed signs.
