We were at the Met many times when Dolora was performing. Most memorable performance was an Aida. We were first row center and that huge glorious voice of hers just filled the house.
Yes! I saw it! Remind me of many years ago, San Francisco symphony conductor Herbert Blomstedt jumped during Verdi’s Requiem, the Dies Irae. I guess Verdi makes conductors jump!
I remember seeing her sing like this in this moment at the Metropolitan in 2009. I was in the back in a box, a kind cast member got us the tickets, and the cast were no push overs but damn when it got to that end of the ensemble and she started blazing out those high notes I legit almost fell out of my chair because all you could hear was Dolora. It was madness, her squillo took total priority in your ear.
And she completely drowned out Aida ( urmana) in the duet. And the rest of cast all look very bitter in the curtain call, when all the applause went to Amneris. ( Met DVD actually tuned Zajick volume down to make others sound OK) At first, I think she could have been a little bit nicer to urmana. On a second thought, Zajick is the only saving grace of that night. In a time of mediocre, hard to find equivalent talented singers to be on stage with her. And that is not her fault.
Sencillamente, grandiosa y espectacular. Un espectáculo sublime cuya puesta en escena es la antítesis de esas representaciones modernistas que tanto se prodigan hoy en día donde una pandilla de mamarrachos excéntricos aspiran a la atemporalidad sin obtener otra recompensa que el ridículo.
It looks like a 1930 production...If Naples likes this kind of staging it will be a shock for them in the next seasons. Good Cedolins. Zajick vocally wonderful...
Fiorenza Cedolins. She was OK. Her voice is very small in the hall. But I have to give her because she sang the high C with no problem in the Nile scene. Still, I prefer a bigger voice for Aida.
Zajick sounds much better live. Through microphones, her vibrato could be a little bit too much. In any case, she sounds good here, and the picture is very clear. However, together this not a great performance. Even the old recording from Tokyo with Simionato/Stella has a better performance because all the singers are loud yet well- balanced. The opera is Aida after all --- even Zajick needs a great Aida, a great Radames, etc.
Hideous production (designer's taste is all in his/her mouth) but the singing has plenty of umph. This is from the San Carlo Opera House in Naples, 1999, according to another clip from this production.
I have to agree with you S J Cohen. What style can it be classified? It's certainly not Egyptian!!! Somewhat a combination of many styles and it doesn't fit the Opera Aida. Also, one rarely sees and hears TOTAL opera and we certainly did not see or hear it here.

The staging is wonderful, so 30's 40's. Great!

Wow did anyone notice the conductor’s JUMP at 8:54 ? LOL! He was ON!!!!! 😅😅😅😅😂😂

OMG.. Dolora never ceases to amaze me. I have seen her sing most of not all her Vverdi roles and it's just amazing.
Espectacular Dolora! Dios mío!!
A true POWERHOUSE GLORIOUS AIDA
Zajick ist fantastic- shat a big voice
Dolora Zajick rules!
Doloraaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
Che meraviglia!!! 💜💜💜👏👏👏
Marvelous!
She gives me goosebumps and that's a good thing.

Totalmente de acuerdo!!!!
I was in a performance of this way back when (as a super). Bronze body makeup on every surface backstage.
Good version !
Zajick -love her . What if Zajick and Callas would have been the same generation ... I dream
Marty Richmond Imagine Callas, Del Monaco and Zajick in Norma. 😱
Del Monaco wouldn't allow Zajick to sing louder than him. 😑
Wouldn't be a problem with Corelli ; )
Callas has had sufficiently huge-voiced mezzos with her, don't worry.
Well, you have Simionato and Stignani for that. Don't need Zajick
Dolora es sobrehumana con una técnica única, su voz sobresale por encima de la orquesta, el coro y sus compañeros de escena...
It looks like a 1930 production...If Naples likes this kind of staging it will be a shock for them in the next seasons. Good Cedolins. Zajick vocally wonderful...
Grandioso !
They would have either killed each other or been great friends
Brava la Cedolins...
And you know she had the E flat.
What a performance! Choir, orchestra, conductor and Dolora... perfection. Who is a conductor?
catastrophic!
Wow. Zajick looks so young here! When was this filmed?
Early 2000s. I saw it in the house.
Does anyone who the rest of the cast is? Simply MAGNIFICENT
The tenor looks like Sabbatini.

Amazing chorus and orchestra direction! Who's conducting this? I've got goosebumps!
On dirait un walt disney des année 50.
Only DOLORA & Oralia Dominguez can do justice to Amneris. BRAVA SENORAS . Arnold Bourbon Amaral
Really? Really?
She is far away from the top Amnerises.

Dolora is the best
Viva Verdi!!!!
Y el bemol al final?
qué bemol???

Where is this from, and when please?
A Paradox Naples back in 38
the great singing is more than enough to make up for lack in acting.

what a shame of tenor singing Radames
ah, you are a tenor. Where are you performing?
Andrés F. Rubiano C. He needs a microphone poor guy. DOLORA was great as usual. Arnold Bourbon Amaral
@@vima8680What a stupid argument you said.
Does anyone who the rest of the cast is?
William Wolken Aida is fiorenza cedolins
What a terrible production. They are just standing around. Yawn. The men are useless.
Dolora Zajick is amazing. She sings very loud!! :D
Espectacular Dolora! Dios mío!!
