    A very clear and simple explanation. Thank you very much! :) Personaly, I would go for another layer of bricks as a higher chimney produces more updraft.

      I get all kinds of suggestions. Some taller some smaller. It works great for what I use it for. Its good that people experiment to make one that fits their needs . Thanks for watching.

    those bricks are probably fine but I'd probably like to use fire place bricks. Also cheap dollar store steel wool ( has powdered aluminum ) will start it super fast. let it burn off before cooking though because it might be toxic. thanks for the video

      We are in NC, with stands of pine trees. They are messy, but pine straw (old needles) are great fire starters?
      But they burn HOT so don't use too many.

  • @nunyabiznis817
    @nunyabiznis817 6 лет назад +1

    Nice vid, but this is not a rocket stove. It's just a regular old fire pit. A rocket stove is designed in an L or J shape and creates a vortex whereby burning the wood fuel smokeless and efficiently with no soot. All you are doing is burning wood right under your cooking area. That's just a fire pit with a feeding area which also doubles as an air intake.

    • @JUSTOUTDOORLIFE
      @JUSTOUTDOORLIFE  6 лет назад

      This is a j or L setup. Sorry if it's not what you thought it was. This is what RUclips is calling it so I did too.

    • @nunyabiznis817
      @nunyabiznis817 6 лет назад

      #1 No that is not a J or L setup, it's straight up and down, nothing else.
      #2 If 90 out of 100 youtubers start calling a kangaroo a dog, does that make a kangaroo a dog?

    • @menotworking
      @menotworking 5 лет назад +1

      I don't see how this is not a rocket stove. Air and fuel come from side channels, air below fuel (though he does put some sticks in the air path, which was unnecessary). It may not be a very efficient rocket stove (a higher stack would help), but if this isn't a rocket stove, none of the brick or concrete rocket stoves on youtube are rocket stoves.

    • @littlepils4187
      @littlepils4187 5 лет назад

      @@nunyabiznis817 if the kangaroo identifies as a dog then yes its a dog. i wont call this a rocket stove but will give it a go as its so basic n some fire to mess around with.
