I have so many pine cones and dead branches that fall off. I built one out of fire bricks after hurricane Sandy. Pine cones have a oil that repels water so you can pretty much burn them right away after shaking off the water. About three baskets like the one you have can cook a meal for 4 people.
Thank you. That's a neat system. One thing I would suggest is work on the audio? I kept having to increase volume on some parts, others it was really loud and had to decrease since I'm watching this pre-dawn and everyone else is asleep LOL. :) Keep up the good work!
I like the detail you get into, like reasons for certain things, etc. I have a couple questions though. 1. Would it work just as well with another layer? 2. What kind of bricks are those white ones? They are a different size than I'm used to seeing.
Yes go for it. It definitely wouldn't hurt to add a layer or two even. The bricks are salvaged from the old fireplace and chimney that was removed from our house. The lighter ones are concrete chimney bricks (not too sure of the size) and others (used for the base) are fire bricks from the burnbox of the old fireplace.
Question to anyone: I see people use only wood in rocket stoves, can you also use charcoal briquettes? I thought maybe once a fire was begun, the charcoal would burn more evenly and not have to be fed so often.
I have one sitting in the side yard now.... the only way to keep it going is top feeding it... trying to side feed it just kills the fire mass... tried offset air and feed hole, and also aligning them both.... same result either way ... I have seven levels of bricks from base .... the concept is age old.... the fire and air draw up the chimney causes a hot fire with air sucked in from elevated bottom, but for some reason this one is not working...using cement bricks that have a tiny spacer ridge looks like they would never allow a tight junction at each brick.
Just tried one of these about a week ago and they do work great 👍
Lowe’s in our Oklahoma area does not carry thick bricks like yours. Theirs are 9x4.5x1.5-ish. Those bricks were .50, now are over $3. 😮 😊 Good job.😊

they look like fire brick, designed specifically for use in wood stoves etc.
