  • These stars make beautiful colourful decorations and I create them every Christmas as little stocking fillers and teacher gifts. The tutorial I normally use, no longer exists so I thought I would make my own. I've made a gorgeous garland with them too just by simple sticking them to ribbon with strong fabric glue.
    You will need:
    4 pieces of cotton fabric (3 ½'' x 12 ½'')
Thick thread like a perle cotton or a fine ribbon (about 8'') to make the hanging loop.
Scissors, Iron, tweezers (optional), needle with a large eye if your using thread.
Starch (optional). I use Mary Ellens best press.
Fabric glue (optional). I use Sewline temporary glue and Hi-tack very sticky glue.
My iron is an Oliso MP3Pro which is great for the precision pressing on this little project but a normal iron will do.
The secret to getting these stars really neat is keeping everything tight and pressing well throughout the steps. I've also found that starch helps. A little temporary fabric glue helps to keep the folded edges together.
