It would blow the minds of today's generation of gamers. I've got RBR on the original Xbox, one of the most difficult but satisfying rally games I've played.
Graphics engine is old of course, but detail of some stages is way higher than in any modern racing game - just search for RBR Semetin or RBR Carvailho de Rei... Is is more about modding skills. But mastering that community created editor is not easy so there are not many modders which are able to create a stage. I don't think the game would be any better just by adding some modern graphics effects, I would love new sound engine though.
Relaxing Freedom Friends and Passions I completely agree, a difficult game doesn't automatically make it realistic.....however, RBR gets the mix of handling physics & course layout so right. Left foot braking, the Scandinavian flick, trail braking all work in RBR, if you can't master these techniques you're not likely to be competitive.
You have to have an understanding of weight transfer and contact patches to go really fast on gravel or snow, that's what makes this game so realistic and good.
you clearly have never driven rally in the winter in real life

@@jarischherxheimer1384 I bloody hate the snow courses but once you've endured them you have the USA to look forward to. Long wide open tracks where you can gun that throttle, really a breath of fresh air after Finland.
@@Quicksilver_Cookie Really sucks that it is a hard to find game. I play Dirt Rally 2.0 all the time and it is probably my favorite sim, I want to try this game so bad but its like impossible to find anywhere.
As for the man, You have very good multi tasking skills. Driving the sim and talking through about stuff at the same time is quite impressive. No rally game ever got even close to rbr and the graphics are very pleasant to the eyes even in 2017. I play it on 3d vision kit and its amazing, vr must be mind blowing.
When I first played this game I bottomed out on a tree stump after the first corner, 4 seconds into things. It was at that point that a tear graced my face. A tear representing shame, but also love.
10:45 so I'm not the only one. It doesn't matter how much I slow down, that tree is always there to collect what remains of my car.

Have you tried the new NGP physics? It feels sooo much more realistic. A lot more predictable, you can balance the care like a ballerina. Also, aerodynamics work too. You get huge downforce with the newest wrc cars, until you lose your spoiler or bumper...
Fantastic rally title. RBR comes to life when you know the stages well and youre driving up and around the very limits. Extremely satisfies when you start getting good at the game.
Brings back some good memories with this sim. Loved RBR! Had a bit of a Petter Solberg moment when the paddle shifter on my old Logitech Wingman Formula Force snapped part-way through a stage, leaving a little stub to try to do my up-shifts with. Good times!!! :)
Uhh... I just finished rally school! It took me about 2 hours and I'm all perspired and exhausted. This is a true sport game, not silly kinects or psmoves.
hahaha like the pause at 12:19 lol "we are not getting off this throttle.... for a long time" lol as Jimmy pauses to contemplate this life decision lol. You are the best mate, brought back a lot of memories there.
I remember we had a leaderboard amongst friends... Who could get the fastest times on each track in this game? Or second to that, the nicest looking or most amazing replay uploaded. And i've spent SO SO SO many hours on this one particular track it's not even funny. The best time IIRC was 03:16 and some milliseconds. And it was full madness through every bend, bump and hairpin with almost zero mistakes and the few mistakes that were there were minor. The rally school track was another one that was bombarded into submission time and time again. So much sweat and aching hands running that track OVER and OVER again to get sub 1:15 times. One of us finally made it... Turns out that's a world record time! Unfortunately i don't remember what the ms was, but i doubt it was low because beating 1:15 was hard enough as it is...
I don't know, there's something about how terrain feels in this game that places it so high above most if not all competition to this day. It's so alive. The way the car reacts to every little bump and uneven surface. For a 15-year old game it's extremely impressive.
RSRBR is a mod made for this game that brings all modern stages and cars each year into the game. If anyone of you is interested in playing this game, definitely install this mod.
One of my favorite racing games of all time is Burnout 3: Takedown. I suck ass at racing games, so I absolutely love the road rage feature, and that even in normal races, you can crash enemies.
I have both and really prefer dirt rally. It's just personal preference. That said, if a mate comes round to have a play on my cockpit setup I always insist they try rbr as well..
My personal favourite has always been Colin McRae 04, probably will also for ever be because it's a great game and that's combined with nostalgia, so nothing will ever pass it for me. But this game looks quite good too, to bad I never came across it.
Like i always said - RBR is the only sim where I find myself shitting me pants at a mere 60mph speed because all it takes is 1 pot hole and it's game over. No other sim has this kind of scare factor for me.
Loved watching this and listening to you laugh and enjoy this so much. I almost laugh out loud when I drive this usually... unless I’m cursing at hazards that destroy my car and ruin a stage. I am back to it again after a few years away. Drove a heavily modded version last time I drove it regularly a few years ago RSRBR... not even sure what version. I’m sticking with the vanilla version with a minimum of mods. Way more fun and rewarding.
Try RBR World mod, simply the best! it has better physics, better graphics, better sound, updated cars year by year (yes, until today), and so much tracks, let's do a video with it!
I remember watching WRC on TV. Richard Burns was stood next to his Peugeot rally car poring water over himself with a towel around his neck saying the car was too hot to drive in. Shortly after he was diagnosed with brain cancer. Such a shame.
MULLIGATAWNY Get Ready! :,) you just have to play this game with this username otherwise you'll destroy your equipment in rage while trying to unlock things
I play every day colin 2005 and this! New games like dirt have lost a lot, this old games Are ahead of his times and still good, another one is Mobil rally champ from99 but i have problem to install on my pc
I always preferred Rallisport Challenge back in the day, that game felt perfect to me with awesome feel and difference and distinct grip between surfaces. What do you think about that game if you played it compared to RBR or Dirt 2.0? I bought Dirt 2.0 now and I don't know it just feels so slippery, it is fun but so punishing that it gets a bit tedious, sure cars differ a lot some are impossible to control and others a bit more "normal" but still super hard.
Honestly, the graphics still look decent today. Lighting and stuff is so overdone these days. Head to a gloomy British forest and it looks exactly like this game. Of course that's not mentioning the unsurpassed driving feel and top-notch co-driving. Class.
There is some good things that are not on actual games sadly. Like the people that go away from the road, the birds flying, the shake of the car, the lose of control after a jump... Today rally stages are too smooth, unlike the reality

why doesnt someone just copy this game with an updated graphics engine? its practically a perfect game
The problem is that the physics are so well made. That it's so impossible to replicate :b
