I come from a tiny village in Tiruppur district. We didn't have electricity at our home when I was growing up. I never heard of IIT's until I became an undergraduate student in a nearby arts &science college. I was the first one to go out of my village to college. However, I was thrilled later when I was offered a faculty position at IIT, Madras (I declined it and joined IISc, Bangalore). I wish I had the opportunity to join IIT for my undergraduate studies.
Narrow minded Dravida Kazakam only ask this question. There many non-Brahmins have successfully come out from IIT all over India and they are employed in foreign countries for very high salary .
How many Tamils got benefits? Very carefully avoided Tamils except Brahmin s Tamils should get alerted. Too much cooked up praise. Planned propaganda channel.
Even with great effort got entry into the institute such Tamils were discouraged or ill treated to make them leave in the middle of the course. Go deep you will find sorrowful not stories but real happenings.
Great. Now a days IIT Chennai taking pathbreaking steps to reach out the community which could not access to its gates for education. Appreciate this new initiative.
What about the placement prospects?. They are charging lakhs of money for this course. They actually started with the intention of internal fund generation. It can't be affordable by common lower middle class people.

IIT is shelter for socalled higher caste people's only because most of teaching and non teaching employee's are being still selected from this socalled upper caste people's and experts says IIT is not following reservation policy.
IIT reaching out is not important. Opening the IIT gates for non bhrahmin tamils is what is the need of the hour. Otherwise how will people believe the standards inside and outside are same.
Caste a kattikittey azhungada. Entrance la merit vangura yaarukkum admission kidaikkum. No reservation basis. 10 marku vaangittu quota la seatu vanguravangalukku adhu puriyadhu.
A person who have potential should lead an organization and should be respected.. I am not a bramin but Quota system screwed up royally. Quota system should be based only on the economical back ground (EWS) of a person. Should not be on caste or religions

Are you a faculty member in IISc?
