@@joannagodfrey5111 Jessie May Smart has been on maternity leave from the band for the last twelve months, the other lead singer is Andrew `Spud` Sinclair he has been with Steeleye for about four years now
I've been a Steeleye Span fan for decades. Their music is always magical. I'd love to purchase the 50th anniversary set but we don't have CD players anymore - keep hoping I can buy it in a digital format.
Love this!!! Didn’t know until stumbling upon this that there is a 50th reunion tour! Was just exploring “gaudete” and “all around my hat”. This is awesome!!! Maddy prior’s vocals has recently inspired me as a volcanic snd performer as well. Wishing you all and awesome tour! And many thanks for this posting!!!!
Great music accompanied me for more than 40 years. Tjis is sos to my british friends, protect us again now againdt the green warmakers from germany baerbock , habeck, scholz sos we need help from abrougth imedeadly before itd to late
Well we all can have a view. I would suggest that with the gaining of years our values can change slightly and we do things in differing ways for many reasons. Musical interpretation can change a little and be as valid.
A poor facsimile … no not in the least, an evolution without a doubt, Spud Sinclair adds a nice edge to the sound and while this isn’t Jessie May Smart, Jessie adds a whole new exhuberance to the band Maddy , if you have seen any other videos is her old self intermingled woth a more staid persona as her age would dictate, Steeleye are still brilliant don’t worry! Listen to Dodgy Bastards or Est 1969, the production on both is brilliant and bastards is definately in my top 5 albums ever! (Btw I’m 64 have been an avid collector and listener of music since I was 12 and seen all off the heat 70’s and 80’s bands live on several occaisoonsso there’s a fair bit of listening in my past to compare them to as well)
Absolutely stunning, magical, haunting performance by ALL the artists...please name them for me...I recognise Maddy...of course
Are these folks real? What a wonderful bit of musical poetry
They are real, wonderfully real.
My favorite version
Wow I just love how those drums pull you into the music, and the violins tie you all up.
A truly beautiful violin part, really evocative
Come to Edinburgh, I would pay hard earned money. Best regards. 🙃
Magic.
Ahhh... another reason why of all their albums, _Time_ is my favorite.
brilliant song, superb fiddle playing by Violeta Vicci
has she replace Jessie May? and who is the lead singer with Maddie on this?

@@paulbaxter7985 thanks for the info, I was supposed to go to their concert in Glasgow last year but developed a streaming cold so couldn't go
The violinist is Jessie May Smart
@@jamesnorthwood2974 the violinist is Violeta Vicci.

Volcanic = vocalist (sorry typo)

Hey, you have a lot of catching up to do. Enjoy all those years from 1969 until today.
Thank you Brian, slap on the wrist for me. Believe Violeta Vicci first came into the band to cover Jesse May's maternity leave.
Fantastisch.
Dacht ik
Weet een van jullie of ze ook weleens in NL optreden.
@@rienkeheinen3601 Geen idee!!!
I must buy that DVD !
Love this song
Magical.
A brilliant song, the sheila on the violin is fantastic
Can you say that today Bruce?
@@desallen2174 who is Bruce ?
You must be joking, just as Sheila is Aussie slang for a woman, so Bruce is slang for a bloke. You can't be an Aussie.

Outstanding!
What wondrous creatures we are!
stunningly performed!
A positive comment at last. Jesse May Smart is a worthy successor to Peter Knight. Huge shoes to fill. I think she does.
It's Violeta Vicci on this recording. Magnificent player.
Sorry Maddy. My infatuation with you had now extended to the fiddler. Sigh
This man has a pleasant voice, more than the original singer.
I thought Bob Johnson had a great voice
@@JCtechwizard Totally agree, Bob's had far more character.
Going to listen to Lark in the Morning. The real Maddy and Steeleye.

A steeleye cover band with special guest Maddy Prior.....
A tad harsh but I know where you are coming from.
Sad, sad video. A disinterested Maddy Prior. Love the original Steeleye. Latest edition a poor facsimile.

If you want vintage Steeleye Span, you'll need to find Ponce DeLeon. Otherwise, here is the next best thing.
