@Eilliw Nodrog: I personally love Ram. Better than anything the Beatles ever recorded though? Hmm. I will admit it´s certainly one of the best post-Beatles efforts. Lennon needed Maca more than Maca ever needed Lennon, for sure.
So much soul, charisma, wit, energy, positivity, love, intelligence, kindness, sensitivity, and IRRESISTIBLE GOOD LOOKS come from this man. I've spent hours of my life watching this man's face on you tube and I can't stop!!! You rock Paul!
Incredible to think that Paul basically created the blueprint for all 70s music with Let it Be, the Long and Winding Road, and this absolute gem. It's so normal now but at the time this kind of sweeping epic song must have been quite revolutionary.
This song has been driving me crazy. That Chorus @3:10 is so powerful, I find myself wanting to hear it more earlier in the song. This song has been stuck in my head for a few weeks now. I almost forgot how good he actually is.
Much to my shame I avoided Ram for so long then lockdown brought the chance to through the whole solo catalogue of The Beatles and I was floored and this was the highlight. I adore this song
I was 13 years of age when a good friend of mine gave me this LP to listen to,i did not have the money to buy this incredible album, but it was lodged in my brain until I could afford this classic, this is pure genius in my opinion
One of many obscure McCartney gems. His whole 70's output is way underrated. Fantastic video, by the way, Sarah. Effervescent awesome guy Paul through the years. It's might be my favorite Beatle video ever!
No, not underrrated, Band on the Run was hailed as a great album. People would critizice the previous one's because of a more homely, low tech sound after the big Beatles sound... but what could you say of the rest of the Beatles: just the same thing. Lennon went evn more minimalistic, Harrison for the run-of-the-mill unrehearsed- no arrangements- mediocre- backup band sound for his nice tunes. Then came the big hits like silly love songs. 70s his best decade after the Beatles anyway.
All from Sarah Mourad, all my thanks to you Sarah Mourad. All great fab fantastic,I spend hours listening to it all over and over , never tried of Paul and Linda's out of this worlds Great Great music 🎵🎶🎉😊❤🤗👍 Xx
One of those amazing gems in McCartney's back catalogue. Incredible that he played it during the Get Back sessions but The Beatles didn't pick it - what other band could pass on a song as good as this?
I love ❤️ this song ❤️ 🎵 Paul McCartney has some hidden gems 💎 ✨️, that really sound amazing 🎉🎉. He's got so so many types and varieties of music 🎶 🎵. I'm blessed to have grown up with the best music ever 🎉🎉
V první polovině sedmdesátých let jedna z nejlepších, ne-li nejlepší skladba, kterou Paul složil. Cítím v ní ještě dotek v dané době už neexistujících Beatles. Zejména ta dechová sekce mi navozuje atmosféru Abbey Road. Radost poslouchat. Paul je výtečný zpěvák i hudební aranžér.
Lyrics: Speed along the highway Honey, I want it my way But listen to her daddy’s song Don’t stay out too long Ooh, we’re just busy hiding Sitting in the back seat of my car Looking for a ride in a haul-about Looking for a ride in and out of town Stalling for a ride in a haul-about Looking for a ride in and out The lazy lights are pretty We may end up in Mexico City But listen to her daddy’s song Making love is wrong Ooh, we’re just busy riding Sitting in the back seat of my car Ooh, ooh… Ooh, we was only hiding Sitting in the back seat of my car And when we finished driving We can say we were late in arriving And listen to her daddy’s song We believe that we can’t be wrong Hey, oh-oh, we believe that we can’t be wrong Oh-oh, we believe that we can’t be wrong We can make it to Mexico City Sitting in the back seat of my car Oh-oh, we believe that we can’t be wrong Oh-oh, we believe that we can’t be wrong Oh-oh, we believe that we can’t be wrong Oh-oh, we believe that we can’t be wrong Oh-oh, we believe that we can’t be wrong Oh-oh, we believe that we can’t be wrong No, no, no Oh-oh, we believe that we can’t be wrong Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, ay
I love the massive Beach Boys influence on this song as you can hear in the vocal harmonies (specially the Mike Love-esque bass vocals), they're so superb. And of course the orchestral arrangement's sublime as well.
I think even the reviewer who lambasted Ram initially had also said that this was the production number, could not agree more, this is the best song on Ram...
I’m in tears seeing Paul and Linda, his Linda. She was everything to him. I’m sure that the day she died part of him also died. Revelation 21:4 talks about conditions in which humans will enjoy in a world where wickedness would be no more. (Revelation chapter 20 takes you what will happened before). I believe this was written, as least started, at home, at night, when George had left the Let It Be sessions. He played it the next day sitting around the piano, with an American accent...jokingly.
Paul demonstrated this song as it was in progress and not completed to the film crew during the Let It Be project that I just watched on Disney plus called " Get Back" awesome .Peter Jackson project!
We're too busy "driving" sitting on the BACK sit of my car? Sounds weird uh .....? Ah, but were they "driving the car ...? or humping like rabbits? Ah the glory and naughtiness of Sir Paulie.' And the "We believe that we can't be wrong" is a MASTERPIECE of vocals and musical arrangements . Heads over anything Paul ever did with the Beatles. A clean flawless sustain turns into a growling savage scream , a false ending and yet another banger from that steel made set of pipes.
We played this song in our McCartney marching band show many many years ago and during the climax “oooh we believe that we can’t be wrong” the entire band including flag girls and percussion section marched forward slowly to the audience, played our instruments with power aimed right at them. They always stood up and cheered. We watched a video of one of our performances and it was the first time we’d seen the show from an audience member’s perspective. We were blown away how good we looked and sounded, lol.
The beatles belong to my generation and are part of my life, my feelings... their music run through my veins........ and it will be until the end of my days
great visual work.. 1:28 and... my mind understood (a bit later then soul), that U know, what u're doin'... no doubt... 3:46 - only Paul could make such a long and musically perfect intro to this moment... this biggest musical punch of two centuries...
Love it Prue Paul, good rock but fun and not the world's coming to an negative, the year I went to Vietnam a long time ago, Paul peace George and john rip.
This has Brian Wilson written all over it. Not that he wrote the song, but this was McCartney after hanging around Brian. He always admired Brian's songwriting and bold chord changes.
God, this song is a freaking MASTERPIECE.
Another underrated Paul McCartney song that deserves so much more credit and holds up all these years. It defies the generations.
Couldnt agree with you more
How long did Paul carry and motivate the Beatles long after John had gotten stoned and lazy?

that last scream on this song leaves me breathless and amazed ... not many songwriters can do that ... truly inspirational writing and singing
Yeah. I could not find words to describe the cathartic feeling it bring me to.

Ram is a great album. I remember the day I bought it. Every song I could sing along
Ram is the equal to ANY Beatles album or anything by Lennon solo and this song is the perfect ender to that great great album.
No.
Preacher At Arrakeen yes, this is easily one of the best albums of the 70s.
Opinions. Are just that. Opinions.
Bold statement. But I can certainly see your point.
blah blah blah more RAM bullshit. have you ever had an original thought, like ever?
One of the best albums ever!!!! I could listen to it over and over .... and believe me, I have!!
I listen to it at least once a day, I'm working on my own cover version of it
Ram was/is still a great album. Hands across the water, anyone remember?
ive never forgotten

A stunningly beautiful song!
What a bloody song: BEAUTIFUL
BLOODY beautiful ! well said
best voice of the Beatles no doubt, too much power and beauty
This song brings back such great memories of the 70's. The happiest times if my life. ❤
How anyone could flame this album is a mystery to me. This song alone is one of McCartney's best.

I like the “Abbey road” sound of this song, especially at 3:46
Sounds like The Beach Boys
It was originally played during the Get Back sessions, perhaps why it still has an Abbey Road or at least late Beatles twang to it
This song has a lot of 'Beatles' inflections as it winds through the chords
Just a wonderful music... Wonderful melody....

Classic. One of my all time favorites.
ALL early songs by Queen derived inspiration from this song
wooow, nice notion! I heard Queen's The Night Comes Down here :)

One of my absolute favorite McCartney songs. Maybe it's the horns and vocals combining, really superb.
Lyrics:
Speed along the highway

Don’t stay out too long
Ooh, we’re just busy hiding
Sitting in the back seat of my car
Looking for a ride in a haul-about
Looking for a ride in and out of town
Stalling for a ride in a haul-about
Looking for a ride in and out
The lazy lights are pretty

Making love is wrong
Ooh, we’re just busy riding
Sitting in the back seat of my car
Ooh, ooh…
Ooh, we was only hiding
Sitting in the back seat of my car
And when we finished driving
We can say we were late in arriving

Agree! RAM brings so much joy!
A total masterpiece. I love you Paul.
How this has never been played in concert is a sin. That & monkberry moon delight & Dear Friend.
