- Bryan Kohberger, the suspected murderer of four University of Idaho students, is expected back in court Friday where there is growing anticipation on when the judge will set the trial date. NBC’s Liz Kreutz reports for TODAY and senior legal correspondent Laura Jarrett provides analysis.

If the prosecution would turn over the discovery, the trial date can be set...but the defense is still waiting for materials requested from almost a year ago. Blame the prosecution.

It's not really a delay but the snail's pace to which Justice crawls along, at least to everyone who is free. For people like Brian, awaiting his eventual sentences, he's going to drag it out as long as possible because there's a gigantic difference between general population in prison and being held in a local jail cell. Brian is only beginning to become acquainted with his fate after the choices he made that brought us all here to discuss the freakshow excuse of a human he actually is.

There are a lot of unknowns. Therefore, we have to consider innocent until proven guilty. We need the truth, not just someone to blame.

US Americans question that Bryan Kohberger would wear a suit - but don't question that their government unalives them with nitrogen. It’s hard to get the complete truth when criminals won’t speak, therefore police can only make a case based on the evidence- it’s not a tv show.

This has been explained over and over. It is required to sort out the garbage before placing it for pick up. It was Christmas and their garbage bin was full so he put his garbage in with the neighbors...duh.

On one hand I want to see the trial, on the other I want the trial to be fair and proper to avoid the wrong or sole perpetrator facing justice.

I know, right?! He looks like he thinks he's going to get away with murder, but he missed the window of opportunity when his defense waved his rights to a speedy trial. The prosecution will have the time to review all the evidence. I imagine it can be measured by apple boxes and not reams of paper (500 sheets) like the criminal files I used to drag from the oversized files storage to one of the 36 assistant attorneys general I worked with. Brian is his own worst enemy.

This has literally taken so long. I just don’t understand. Obviously innocent until proven guilty but if hes guilty or innocent they need to get this court case rolling. Ppl might forget about what happened to these kids by the time the trial begins.

If the prosecution wants a timely trial, then they should hand over their evidence to the defense in a timely fashion. Instead, the stall and make the defense make ELEVEN requests for discovery, and still refuse to release the required information.
And in an organized fashion.

I read that Kohberger's trial will be live-streamed by the court. I always watch Court TV for trials. Also, 2 days ago I heard it would start Mon. March 3, 2025 but they're still deciding what city to have it...Moscow or another city in Idaho where jurors would possibly not know much about the case plus not disturb the college students in Moscow.

Enormous amount of physical evidence? Where?!!!!!
Investigators pieced together DNA evidence, cellphone data & surveillance video they say links Kohberger to the slayings. Also, according to an affidavit Kohberger's cellphone pinged in the vicinity of the house 12 times prior to the murders. Police also took trash from the curb outside Kohberger's parents' house in Pennsylvania where they allegedly found a familial match between his father's DNA and the knife sheath sample. That's all I know so far.
You would think if they had enough to convict him they would have had the trial. These victims had something going on

There is something about these two that just rubs me the wrong way! They complain that they are not getting information from the police/prosecution, but can't keep their mouths shut! I think they like to see themselves on TV. I don't blame the police, etc. I blame them. "Don't make me do it". That is one BIG reason they are kept in the dark! I understand he was very upset when he said that, but I wouldn't tell him anything for fear he would destroy the police case.

In my town its not unusual to be in pkain clothes until a conviction..you wear jumpsuit at your sentencing ....he has not been found guilty .. people have taken seven years before a trial

The question the reporter asked "How does it feel seeing this person in the court room?" and the father and mother answer is just horrifying to hear! "It's hard to keep control of yourself" or " Its not fun to see someone to sit with a nice tidy hair cute, clean shaved, a suit." In all honesty nobody truly knows what the defense and the prosecutor has in FACTUAL evidence if this man truly did commit theses crimes or not. What happen to the Innocent until proven guilty? This set of parents has already determined that this is the suspect with out a doubt and to lay a finger on it they probably don't even know a quarter of what evidence has been found.
The only people who have to presume his innocence is the JURY. That's it, that's all.

You can't set a court date if the prosecution won't turn over discovery to the defense. This delay is directly due to the the prosecution withholding evidence- see the defense's 11 requests for discovery.

Not from what I've understood...I think they just want to SEE the evidence they have on him if indeed they do...this happens to be what those following the case have been wanting...its just that their child was a victim and so their anxiousness by comparison to the rest is a given...apples and oranges...and please keep Kobergers parents in mind as well. I'm sure, as a parent, they anxious to get the process on further down the line.

And what about the literal knife sheath that was left on the property that turned out to belong to Bryan? (it had his DNA all over it) If you are seriously questioning why there isnt a lot of DNA, lets think for a second. What type of person could get away with such a crime without leaving much DNA evidence? Someone who has a background in criminology or experience in law enforcement. Lets not forget he was a criminology student and a good one too.

Also, he was driving around at the same time as the murders, with his car (supposedly) caught on camera 4 times circling the neighborhood. The car itself matches his, including no front license plate (something they do in his native state of PA, but not in UT). He admits he was driving around that night. And the odds of another car exactly like his at 3am in the same small area is nearly impossible.
His phone was turned off, very conveniently, as the murders happened. And when his phone was actually on the pings indicated he was traveling to (before) and from (after) the house, matching the time frame of those camera sightings.
It's obvious that the murderer was well planned, and this would match someone with a background in criminology. While the trace evidence (such as the knife sheath) point to someone inexperienced and in a rush

In 9th grade our science teacher showed us how easy it is to frame someone with DNA evidence! We had to replicate that in class and tested the results! So easy we swiped a cue tip on the persons door knob then rubbed it on the item that would be planted on the victim! Instant Frame Job and it happens all the time when Police can't figure out a case or the Perpetrator left no evidence behind! In this case it's to save the University because if the truth was known it would be a media circus of students being charged with powerful parents and the Sigma Chi Fraternity imploding and likely being bulldozed like the house then parents not wanting their offspring going to that town! Costing hundreds of millions to the town, University and the families of the perpetrators not to mention millions of costs to the tax payers!

"Prayer" doesn't do anything (statistically speaking). It doesn't change outcomes (as evidenced in studies). Empty gesture.
If you are going to pray then pray for real true justice to be found. There's a lot of stuff being hidden and changed in cases in Idaho. Just look at the case of Dr.Moore who was falsely accused of killing Dr. Drake. The interrogation of him alone will make you think hard.

BK is innocent. The PCA makes no sense. Don't just rely on the news, (polly-parrot-repeater-peats), take a listen to crime investigators who have already identified the flaws in the PCA. The family of the victims want answers and they can only direct their anguish towards BK, who is innocent. The attorney is also wanting to know how did you get to my client, Mr.Kohberger -how? Its been a year, a year of investigating and its just not adding up..if it doesn't fit, you must acquit/exonerate. Do not send an innocent person to jail. We want the truth.

But you don't know if he did it yet. So how do you hate a person they can't prove who did it, we can assume he did want him to be the one, wait for the trial.nobody knows. And this truth will come out, and some may be crushed by it and what they hear about about some of the victims? No one wants to see the families in any more pain.

There is no way that the perpetrator will be exonerated. The evidence is huge and if I was a juror; I would focus on evidence.
The probable cause evidence is overwhelming regardless of any other arguments brought forth.
Defense will twist and twist and twist and twist to disrupt; however, no one can feel safe at a college knowing murderers are not held accountable.
It is a nightmare put upon the judge that has to demand the trial to begin and set timelines.
Too much goofing around with time wasted.

If the prosecution would have handed over all the evidence then the defense would be able to do their job properly. Are you actually following this case and watching what is going on in court. There seems to be a lot of things missing in this case and no one seems to actually see it.

If he takes a guilty plea that may never find out. Then they’d have to apply and pay for the information.

@trisha4797 they should of started this trial a long time ago, that means he has to spend more and more of his life in jail if he is innocent not saying he is, but if he is not guilty. how does he recoop his life everybody took? This is being drug out for a reason.
