I’ll be posting a few of these bonus videos in the run up to Christmas to “use up” all the reports I’ve filmed on my iPhone. I’ve got some great content planned for January 2018 using a new, proper camera and some professional editing software.
Helvetic are a strange airline. They run their own flights, mainly on a charter basis, but as in this report they subcontract to Swiss International Airlines on certain intra-European routes. On this short hop in business class, follow me though the whole journey, with a bit of a focus on the excellent Brussels Airlines “Loft” Lounge at Brussels Airport.
Overall, a pleasant flight on one of my favourite aircraft, the Embraer 190. Despite the 30 minute delay I enjoyed this flight, though it did help my hotel in Zurich was just a 5-minute tram ride from the airport!
This flight was booked as part of a complex multi-city itinerary with Swiss Airlines (including a 6-month stopover and a surface sector) so the costs I paid probably won’t be reflective of your own plans, if you’re interested!

I am glad you had this opportunity. You were clearly working quietly and calmly so passengers can feel safe.
I think I'd be a drunk businessman in business class with access to these lounges.
I used to handle Swiss at Birmingham, and we often used Helvetic flights. I found the Helvetic crews and flight deck more friendly than the actual Swiss ones who could be quite aloof at times.

Great report, love the attention that goes into it. The train station in Antwerp looks stunning (and yes you had breakfast on the train lol). I do like the lounge in Brussels but not much partition in the busy seating area. Good filming... I look forward to your new camera

Two comment. One negative, one positive.
Negative first. The music you use generally is somewhat painful for me to listen to with the heavier rhythmic accompaniments. I realise you can't please everybody all of the time, but it detracts for me and makes your reports something to be endured in that respect.
The positive second comment is about your politeness. You are always polite to the ground staff and cabin crew. Please, thank you, etc are rare on RUclips. Some passengers would do well to follow your example.
I've flown Helvetic more than once as they work a good number of flights LCY-ZRH. I have had only one poor cabin crew with Helvetic. Unusually for one of the Swiss airlines, they were more interested in extensive gossiping behind the curtain rather than serving the passengers.
Like the fact we hear more from you in this video. Bravo 👏. Keep up the good work. 😎

A great video once again, and for me, even more pleasant for other reasons: lovely short flight, lovely cosy aircraft, the on board service and meal were beyond expectation for a 53 min flight, and my favourite time of day to fly, and into one of my fav cities. I fondly recall 2 flights to Zurich during summer evenings from Paris and Vienna and it is magical. Also very impressed with Brussels airports Loft lounge. Flew through there once in 2016. Well done.

+MrGreatplum Not really when the average cost of the business class seat is over double that of economy. (Not in my case though, my sector cost about £70-80 as I booked on a complex itinerary)

I'm left wondering what the value is in the additional cost for travelling business class on such a short trip. The review left me none the wiser. I travel a lot domestically in Australia and like the embraer 190 for its comfortable leather seats and more leg room in economy compared to 737s. But business? Why bother?
+doryanthes67 Depends very much on the cost of the ticket - I don’t travel specifically to make reviews as such, but rather to maximise my content. Might surprise you to know that on the complex itinerary I purchased, each sector cost around £70, but almost nobody has that sort of travel pattern.

Hey Paul, that a nice trip report, thank you very much for enjoying your flight with us and my humble Business class service! As a few people already pointed out, photography laws in CH are slightly different from international laws and require you either to ask for permission first or delete photo/video material of subjects upon request. No worries this time, I'm totally cool with being filmed, I can handle a bit of spotlight and filming of the aircraft/flight itself is a-ok. However, I'd like you to ask my colleagues at Swiss or Helvetic for permission to film them in action next time you're vlogging your experiences. Thanks in advance for your understanding, and do enjoy your flight on the venerable Fokker 100 next year! ;)
Paul - I think the middle dish was pickled herrings served two ways by the looks of it. Agree it's one of those acquired tastes. Good video and that lounge did look gorgeous
+ClaytonTheCruton It could be, but the catering is supposed to be based on Swiss food and I’m not sure they eat herrings. (I’m rather partial to a picked herring myself!)

A pleasant surprise for a Thursday afternoon to see this vid posted! Was taking the train to Zurich an option? There probably is a HST that travels the route,Western Europe seems to have many HST routes linking major cities.My memory says that Helvetic at one time had F-100's painted in a purple livery,when did they switch to the Swiss colors? Did you overnight in Zurich?
Jason Moors - when I stayed in Kandersteg in Switzerland, there was at least one train a day that went through that was Brussels or Amsterdam to Milan so the answer is probably!

Great video of a great company, but I hope you asked permission to film the FA as the video shows his full face....
You don’t need people’s permission to show their face in a video (as long as you’re not using the face to advertise something). That’s the case in just about all Western democracies. There are something like 100 faces in this video, just as there are in pretty much every vlog.
I always respond to people who suggest it’s either illegal or wrong to show other people’s faces on RUclips because it’s a common and damaging misconception.
You should re-check the regulations in Switzerland.
