Me and my family have gone down this route several times, very nostalgic

Not boring at all; I'm glad you posted even with the weather conditions as they were. I'm planning a move to Tromso from northern California, so it was an asset to see a long drive in the area I wish to live. Thank you.

This road seems as "busy" as some of ours in northern Vermont, Disunited States.

Vermont might be my kind of a Place then :-)

I found it informative, we are planning a trip there this summer from the US and was wondering if that was the actual time it took you? (1:52)

Sorry to answer this late, Dave. The time it took was about 20 minutes longer than this video. I had to cut the video a bit for YT.The distance is about 160 kilometres and it takes about one hour and 15 mimutes.

is it advisable to drive this route in Dec-Jan?

There is lots of local traffic too so they must drive through the year. I've only been there in summer/autumn so I don't know exactly if there is some special arrangements for snow in some areas. In north Finland I know they keep all the roads open and clean the roads from snow through the winter.

I've been driving there in mid-december, from Levi to Skibotn. Lots of snow and low visibility because it is night almost all day long. However we didn't have any problem. In my opinion, it is totally possible, as long as you pay attention to the road ! Finnish cars have the right equipment for those conditions. I totally advice you to do it, it's magical to drive there at that time of the year

I moved to northern Norway (about 60km south og Tromsø) last autumn, and I drove all winter. It's no problem as long as you're careful and have winter tyres. Most people use studded tyres. Also make sure you have good lights, as it's dark nearly all day.

I was there from South-Germany back in February 2019 (with a Camper van). It was challenging for me because of the lack of driving skills for these conditions but it was possible!
