Old Buck Folding Hunter vs a new one
I got the old knife in 1988 and the new one in 2023.
The date code on the old blade says 1989. Anyway I got the knife in latter part of 1988. I got information from Buck by e-mail telling, that the codes don't necessarily change by the year.
The spring of the old knife is just a bit tired.
The tip of the old blade broke at the very beginning in 1988 twisting on something. The tip of the new blade doesn't look as thin and sharp as it did the tip of the old knife in 1988.
The sheaths haven't changed that much either. There are small differences in the logo and the color off course. The color of the old knife shealth was really light leather in the beginning.

From Kilpisjärvi, Finland to Skibotn, Norway and a little along Lyngenfjord. The video shows the actual driving time. Nothing is cut but couple of stops from the video. Distance from Kilpisjärvi to Skibotn is 48 kilometres and where the video stops 82 kilometres. This road is worth driving if you already are visiting Kilpisjärvi.

is it advisable to drive this route in Dec-Jan?
There is lots of local traffic too so they must drive through the year. I've only been there in summer/autumn so I don't know exactly if there is some special arrangements for snow in some areas. In north Finland I know they keep all the roads open and clean the roads from snow through the winter.
I've been driving there in mid-december, from Levi to Skibotn. Lots of snow and low visibility because it is night almost all day long. However we didn't have any problem. In my opinion, it is totally possible, as long as you pay attention to the road ! Finnish cars have the right equipment for those conditions. I totally advice you to do it, it's magical to drive there at that time of the year
I moved to northern Norway (about 60km south og Tromsø) last autumn, and I drove all winter. It's no problem as long as you're careful and have winter tyres. Most people use studded tyres. Also make sure you have good lights, as it's dark nearly all day.
I was there from South-Germany back in February 2019 (with a Camper van). It was challenging for me because of the lack of driving skills for these conditions but it was possible!
I've made it to the end and I've enjoyed the video. And the trip. Kiitos... or takk... whatever -- Thank You. Wishful thinking: one of these centuries I'm gonna make it myself )).

This road seems as "busy" as some of ours in northern Vermont, Disunited States.

Sorry to answer this late, Dave.The time it took was about 20 minutes longer than this video. I had to cut the video a bit for YT.The distance is about 160 kilometres and it takes about one hour and 15 mimutes.
