- Liza Minnelli arrived in Paris in late November 1969
and stayed for two weeks. During her time there,
she rehearsed at the Olympia Paris, refined her dance
routines in a studio, and performed for two nights at the iconic
venue (5th and 7th December 1969).
She also recorded a one-hour performance in a Paris studio.
All of these activities were captured on film.
Check out those unreleased concert audio from Liza Minelli:

This is a treasure..luckily I worked as a showroom manager and got to see her rehearse and perform many many times..always on just so truly talented and always standing ovations
I knew Liza was a dancer...but wow! How hard she worked to find her best...thank yoiu Liza xoxo
I saw Liza live once, many decades later, but she never lost that spark. Many thanks!! ❤
I saw Liza 5 times. She always gave every bit of herself. Every time. I brought a Liza skeptical and he was on his feet after several numbers.
Just 23. Amazing footage. What a talent. Brilliant.❤❤
Interesting to watch the crowd slowly warm to Liza. I love the French and I would never profess to have an ounce of her showmanship but I, an unknown, performed in Paris nine years ago and while I do have my showstoppers and can usually captivate ant crowd ... the French audience can be VERY humbling. The best response I got was surprisingly the one I received for the song I dreaded the most, LA VIE EN ROSE, since I was certain it was overdone by every American singer in France. My audience's response hardly got better than the first quizzical-looking response after Liza's opening number, many hardly even looking up on the stage.
But, Liza ... wow. At 23, no less. I knew she danced but I never really saw much of that talent before the heavy Fosse influence, of which I can appreciate but was never a huge fan. I am SO appreciative of tis video, thank you for posting it. It's amazing to compare her early talent which would have carried her through had she not proceeded to grow enormously from there. Thoroughly entertaining and, again, thank you so much for posting this.
That's quite fascinating, Julian! GOOD ON YA, MATE. I was in the West End (I'm back in USA, for long time, mostly Alas?! now, but ...) - blah blah ... Check THIS out; reckon you'll really dig it - - my dear friend and erstwhile tap teacher, Tracy Everitt - and Liza, about 5 yrs. before this footage, on the Judy Garland show! They were bf/gf for a year ... Tracy's still goin' strong in NJ .. GO, LIZA! -- re the French: Haven't experienced 'em as a performer at all - but I believe you! You've got guts! (I lived in Belgium for a year, LONG ago, as a teen... SUCH a beautiful wee treasure of a country, like Czechoslovakia ... a mixture of so many beautiful cultures ...)) - Yes, THANKS for posting this! Have heard her sing many of these songs before (guess we all have! lol) - but always so fun to hear whichever version and w/ such healthy young pipes! ... SUCH a great, generous (as far as her talent is concerned, massively) workaholic she is! Showman (ShowLADY) EXTRAORDINAIRE --- SO few Triple threats in this world (My favorite actor of all time: James Cagney, was another) ... Well... Wordily yourn (lol)_, - Stay well ad safe, All, - VCH & Midlantic Theatre Co., Newark, NJ 💙💚💚🧡❤
PS: Such HUGE eyes, eh? So widely spaced (perfect for the camera) ... like James Cagney's were ... and those endlessly long, GORGOEUS, strong legs ... Perfect Performer's equipment, eh? GO, LIZA!
8:30 - 11:30 "God Bless the Child" - if any song doesn't express Liza and her family (Judy Garland ... Vincent Minelli - Rest in Peace, you HONORED legends ... ) ... etc. ... Then I just don't know what song does! GO, LIZA. 💓❤💚💙💚💚🙏🌲🌲🌲🌲
Thats real Star Power on show there. WOW! Liza has got it all. 😊
Liza has her charms and there are many ♥️♥️♥️♥️❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤♥️♥️♥️.
45:52 - "Cabaret" well BEFORE the film - Yay! Cool. ❤💙💚
Interesting Liza already had some of her legendary moves and vocal expressions as early as then.
She's only 23, but already being molded by Fred Ebb. Unfortunately for her voice.
Thank you for uploading this gem! Thrilling to watch....
Wowwwwwwwwwww. Gracias por publicar este hermoso concierto de Liza.
WOW!!!!
Love it! ❤❤ thank you!!
I came here for "I Will Wait for You", my favorite performance from this gig. 😢
A true star full of god given talent.
She was a true powerhouse!
Exelent !!! 👍👏👏👏🥂🙋♂️
Petite Fleur petit Flore ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
A young American in Paris.
Thank you very much for posting this video! It's a tremendous rarity! The quality is great, I just have one caveat because it looks like you used AI and sometimes the image looks strange. Anyway, thank you very much!
I used AI to remove a logo that was right in the middle of the video. And it did an amazing job compared to what was before...
@@realmusics5508 oh! My bad. Sorry. Now I understood.
❤❤❤❤
55:27 - That's one tough cookie! - "Mammy" - and Judy G. had just died 5 months before that. A strong lady here, indeed.
DIVINE THIS IS THANK YOU !!!!! 😍wow this is before the Halston make over, right ? 😄
This article say this was from December 11 & 13, 1969: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Live_at_the_Olympia_in_Paris
@@dannydougin3925 it’s wrong she performed on the 11th and the 13th of December in 1971.
In 1969 she performed on the 5th and 7th of December. The last 3min of the video is from the 5th (first night) the rehearsal from the 3rd. The whole video from the 7th
And 1966
More Spice Girls content please 😁
Amazing footage! Was there a watermark on the original film?
Just GOTTA say: That GAWJUS long dancer number, SO exquisite - w/ the guys - SO well DONE !!, eh? 23:30 - 41:00 and those 2 folks' (OK: ALL the audience's 🤣🤣🤣🤣) funnily, goofily pained expressions? rt. afterwards? (Well; they're sorting things out in thr. heads, I guess?? - they look puzzled? ... lol!) Hilarious! Oui, c'est de la peine, bien sur! lmao 🤣 😛❤
Damn, what a voice! Could Cardi B or Beyoncé or Billie Eilish do this? Er…NO!
Was this before or after her mom died in London? June of 1969
@@gregglienna1442 this was in Nov-Dec 1969. Therefore after.
Liza with a Z. She sang in French with that song as well.
🎉❤😅 utube JOHN BAVAS CABARET
Lucille Ball said that Liza couldn't be domesticated. With talent like hers, screw doemestication!
I never understood why people thought she could sing...
could or couldn’t?
I don’t think Liza possessed the same vocal skills as her mother. She also lacked that rare and unique gift only Garland had: pathos.
She always starts out OK but winds up shrieking off key.
She’s better than her mother. And you’re a fool
@@hor2kulture Off-topic, but I used to tell this joke: "I can use horticulture in a sentence. I took Jayne Mansfield to the museum to introduce the horticulture."
She could've used a LOT more rehearsing.
Excuse me?😮
