  • Liza Minnelli arrived in Paris in late November 1969
and stayed for two weeks. During her time there,
she rehearsed at the Olympia Paris, refined her dance
routines in a studio, and performed for two nights at the iconic
    venue (5th and 7th December 1969).
She also recorded a one-hour performance in a Paris studio.
All of these activities were captured on film.
Check out those unreleased concert audio from Liza Minelli:

I saw Liza 5 times. She always gave every bit of herself. Every time. I brought a Liza skeptical and he was on his feet after several numbers.

Interesting to watch the crowd slowly warm to Liza. I love the French and I would never profess to have an ounce of her showmanship but I, an unknown, performed in Paris nine years ago and while I do have my showstoppers and can usually captivate ant crowd ... the French audience can be VERY humbling. The best response I got was surprisingly the one I received for the song I dreaded the most, LA VIE EN ROSE, since I was certain it was overdone by every American singer in France. My audience's response hardly got better than the first quizzical-looking response after Liza's opening number, many hardly even looking up on the stage.
But, Liza ... wow. At 23, no less. I knew she danced but I never really saw much of that talent before the heavy Fosse influence, of which I can appreciate but was never a huge fan. I am SO appreciative of tis video, thank you for posting it. It's amazing to compare her early talent which would have carried her through had she not proceeded to grow enormously from there. Thoroughly entertaining and, again, thank you so much for posting this.

That's quite fascinating, Julian! GOOD ON YA, MATE. I was in the West End (I'm back in USA, for long time, mostly Alas?! now, but ...) - blah blah ... Check THIS out; reckon you'll really dig it - - my dear friend and erstwhile tap teacher, Tracy Everitt - and Liza, about 5 yrs. before this footage, on the Judy Garland show! They were bf/gf for a year ... Tracy's still goin' strong in NJ .. GO, LIZA! -- re the French: Haven't experienced 'em as a performer at all - but I believe you! You've got guts! (I lived in Belgium for a year, LONG ago, as a teen... SUCH a beautiful wee treasure of a country, like Czechoslovakia ... a mixture of so many beautiful cultures ...)) - Yes, THANKS for posting this! Have heard her sing many of these songs before (guess we all have! lol) - but always so fun to hear whichever version and w/ such healthy young pipes! ... SUCH a great, generous (as far as her talent is concerned, massively) workaholic she is! Showman (ShowLADY) EXTRAORDINAIRE --- SO few Triple threats in this world (My favorite actor of all time: James Cagney, was another) ... Well... Wordily yourn (lol)_, - Stay well ad safe, All, - VCH & Midlantic Theatre Co., Newark, NJ 💙💚💚🧡❤

PS: Such HUGE eyes, eh? So widely spaced (perfect for the camera) ... like James Cagney's were ... and those endlessly long, GORGOEUS, strong legs ... Perfect Performer's equipment, eh? GO, LIZA!

8:30 - 11:30 "God Bless the Child" - if any song doesn't express Liza and her family (Judy Garland ... Vincent Minelli - Rest in Peace, you HONORED legends ... ) ... etc. ... Then I just don't know what song does! GO, LIZA. 💓❤💚💙💚💚🙏🌲🌲🌲🌲
