@@peace_ful_eyes I’m a wing trying to work on my pick n roll ability. I’m 6’4 in shoes so unless I’m a JJ Redick level shooter or an insane athlete, it’s better for me to develop my PG skills to keep getting minutes on higher levels.
@@loganadams369 yh if you get decent at making shots and really master the pick and roll you will give the opposing defense one hell of a headache. It’s about experience and trial and error tbh. Reading the defense comes from experience but also repetition as it is a skill. Off the court I always use 2k to get better at Pick and Roll 😂. Don’t get me wrong it’s nothing compared to actually playing but if you want to work on you reaction speed and how fast you can read the defense off court, that’s one way. The best way is to probably keep studying film.
This is the kinda stuff that players need to watch from youtube. None of that "5 Unguardable moves" stuff. Build the fundamentals and then that stuff becomes more usable
Need more videos like this. It allows the viewers to actually use their iq to see if they know what to do. Kind of like a test to see if the info being taught is being retained
Need more of these vids. Was right on some of them but the ones where you look for momentum really was an eye opener. Love that it puts my iq to the test and teaches me about the game further
This is some of the best educational basketball content on RUclips. I think the only thing better would be a version where the player is wearing a camera, and you do the read while seeing EXACTLY what they see.
I love your videos! This by far was the most helpful!!! I found myself more engaged and learning more during the video. Please make more videos like these on different areas of the game. Thank y’all so much for y’all’s programs and videos!
Actually got all of those correct save for one of the earlier weak side pass reads. I saw the weak side help side with his head turned during the Rolland figured that’s where the pass would be made
Definitely needed this coming off the screen unsure where your looks at will get you benched as a guard these days so these reads are definitely worth going over💯 🎒
Yo love this style of video! I have been looking for film to watch at night and I have to say that this video has been the best one I have seen so far!
2:05 he can actually just pass to the roll man and the defenders will have a bystander effect (u talked about it before) and the roll man can actually have an open layup, or he can pass out to the shooters waiting there if two of the defenders went to guard him. hope i can know if am i correct or not thanks.
I don’t know if it would work but a slow mo instead of a freeze frame might be cool so the viewer can make the read in real time while players are still moving.
The P&R is like a 2-on-1 fast break, but with (usually) a small & big offensive players. That means the lob is more likely than the pass & dribble. It probably requires a lot more practice since the players are moving in parallel to the basket (ideally) and only at the last second they read the defender(s) and decide who should take it to the rim. The ball-handler has to control the tempo, try to get between a defender and the basket and make the decision when to pass. Harden and Doncic are best known for this. I think pros are as concerned with having the shot set up properly and having their head and body ready to do it or they'll just pass away to someone else. College players are usually more concerned with the physical aspect (foot position, openness to shoot, rhythm of their body with the ball catch). If you're open, but your brain isn't in gear it's still not a great shot.
